Let us delve deep into the Transformers comics that will be released this July by IDW Publishing. Courtesy of ComicNewsI, we've got solicitations for a handful of comics from the Premier Publisher. Ongoing continues with it's 9th issue, and so does 'Ironhide' with it's 3rd. Also in the mix is Nefarious' 5th issue, as well as Classic Transformers - Volume Six. To top it all off we've got a trade paperback of Transformers: Bumblebee, a series tying in with the new Ongoing, that finished this March. Check out the covers, descriptions and the spoilers below!

I for one am very happy to see Guido Guidi on the ongoing. If everything looks like the regular Floro Dery cartoon design that would be a huge improvement, in my opinion. What I don't get is why IDW doesn't provide an inker for his art. Sure, it looks better when he inks himself (the first couple of issues of All Hail Megatron), but eventually they needed fill-in artists because he was doing double-duty and thus was behind on schedule (I suppose)...

That is a really weak cover for the ongoing. Simplistic linework and very little in the way of detail. The colouring is lacking as well and rather flat. This isn't a cover I would look at and think "Oooh! I must have this!"

I kinda feel like it's 1986 again (where's my hypercolour t-shirt??).

I wonder when the Autobots will get their gestalt teams up and running?

I'm looking forward to the Ironhide miniseries.

Nefarious is a 'take it or leave it' one for me. Dunno... it might be the first miniseries I don't get all of. I'm not sure whether that's because it's movie-verse or because it seems a little rehashed plotwise. (Actually, I lie, I didn't get Spotlight: Cliffjumper because I thought it was rubbish... would you class the Spotlights together as a series??)

The fact that Swindle and Blast-off are not pictured almost could be a nod to the upcoming release.

Swindle's not there because he's with Rodimus and the Stunticons...about to beat on Magnus.

I assume the fiery rain is from Blastoff...just an assumption.

Actually, after having suffered through designs that looked like the ugly stephild of a Classics and Movie figure until now, I'd say this is a step up.
