Access Hollywood recently caught up with Mark Wahlberg at the premiere of his latest film Lone Survivor and as you would expect Transformers: Age of Extinction made it's way into the conversation. While we know TF:AOE is a sequel to the previous trilogy, Wahlberg points out it's very different from the previous films and can "stand-alone". Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters June 27th, 2014.

It’s a completely different stand-alone movie. It takes place after the third one, after the battle of Chicago. It’s definitely its own story.

I think it’s very different and fresh and people are going to really enjoy it. I had a blast making it,” he said. “And you’re going to see things in this particular movie that you haven’t seen in the other movies.

And some shots of Nicola Peltz in sultry poses. And some buildings blowing up. Some awesome car chases, some slo-mo fighting scenes, and explosions.

But yeah, robot dinosaurs! :D

Only time will tell but based on the images, the director and the news about this film. I am expecting it to be like the others. The first movie was the only decent one. It's too late to recreate the impact or feel of that film after everything that came out afterwards.

I agree the first one was the best, though I do like the last 3rd of DOTM as well.

Yes, and now that "mainstream" actors like wahlberg have invaded TF I am completely sick and tired of this Hollywood crap. Each movie gets more and more ridiculous. As for the marky mark guy... I'm sure he won't mind after he gets a few million, but I do.

I think it's obvious that AoE can "Stand-Alone" Since Bay movies are so dumb that that you don't need to even know what happened before. It is even better that way, cause plot holes are big enough to destroy your brain.

The people who animate the CGI are pretty damned talented, if you ask me.

The enormus ones? Actually, Bayformers make sense only if we agreed that almost all characters in this movies are morons. And it still don't explained why timeline in this Universe is so unstable...

Me too. There was a thread about these "plot holes" before and we came to the conclusion that the people who complain about plot holes didn't pay attention to the movies.

And most of this theories are only Wild Mass Guessing, additionaly, mostly either stupid and/or against some facts in movie itself (vide: Optimus had tammed himself in Mission City, because he don't wanna hurt too many humans).

I think it might have been because he wanted to die. Did you notice how he begged Sam to sacrifice him to the Allspark? I think after eons of conflict and losing Cybertron, he just wanted it to be over. But in the sequels, he saw that wasn't an option, and transformed that desperation into just pure pissedoff-ness.

Actually, in first movie he is as clueal and feracious like in the others, he simply isn't strong enough to defeat Megatron on his own. If he care about Humans so much, then why he left Helicopter's crew for certain death without sign of care? Why he lead Megatron into a Tower without sign of care?

One of first movies plots was Optimus was de facto underdog, with Megatron one step ahead. They are kinda like more drastic Ash and Gary from pokemon:) Later it was abandoned, but for Prime's Fatancis it isn't enough and they try to deny this even if that make entire first movie completly illogical and pointless...

The truth is that there is only one right answer to all RotF and DotM problems "Michael Bay is a dumbass, and this is an action movie, so there is no need to explain this." In first movie Optimus was complelty different, because it wasn't up to Bay.

He didn't use his swords or anything against Megatron. I honestly don't think Optimus's goal was to defeat Megatron there. Even after Megatron died, you could hear the regret in his voice.

Because Megatron don't give him chance to use it? Also It is hard to use blade properly, when you are under heavier oponent. Or maybe he already tried this before and knows that he's sword can't damage Megatron. And he use his gun and shoot Megatron right in face and... It wasn't effective even a bit. Also Movie prequels clearly estabilished that originaly Prime was't a warrior, and live in Megatron's shadow until Mission City - the first Autobots important victory... Aquired thanks to human allies. Humanity at least twice saved Autobots from total defeat and never really taked the credit for their actions... considering that this is story about how humanity is special, it is kinda awkward.

Optimus used his blades just fine to slice through opponents in ROTF and DOTM, Megatron, as well. He didn't shoot Megatron in the face, he shot him in the shoulder.

I quess it's because Bay had free hand in RotF and DotM. For me, it is safer to agree that human technicians gave Optimus some upregade between 2007 and 2009, i remember that even there was hinted in Reign of Starscream, that Earth-based technology makes Cybetronians stronger. However, this isn't the point, the point is that action movies aren't that complicated. But Bayformers is unlogical even by action movies standards, and it is hard to accept that Bay decide to turn franchise with such long tradition into typical Invasion Movie.

It depends from the frame, later we can see he's hand on fire, but eariler frames suggest that whe was hitted in heah.

The movies are perfectly logical. All you have to do is pay attention. And, what? There can't be a piece in Transformers fiction where the Decepticons actually try to take the world? Yeah, sure.

Only if you are imperfect ;) All this problem solving creates only more problems.

The wart part about Bayformer beign ordinary invasion movies is, that it kinda killed any kind of uniqueness. This is typical action movies about human beign special and aliens only in the background. If you replace Autobots with Angels and Decepticoms with Demons, and place it in XIII century England, the movie would remain pretty much the same.
