Wow, I hope a 'Con smushes Mearing. What a biotch.

Agreed. Also, am I the only one who notices that in Bay's films when the military and government are portrayed side by side the military (especially the soldiers) are genuinely heroic and the government is slimey, careless, and generally lacking empathy or respect?

Amen to that.

Carly, sure, a blonde bimbo, why is she there? Sam, hmm, he defeated Megatron in the battle of Mission City, he worked out (with help) where the harvester was hidden, found the Matrix of Leadership, used it bring Optimus Prime back to life so he could stop the Fallen from destroying the sun and our solar system and he has an Autobot protecting him from the Decepticons. I think that gives him some level of clearance.

It's because he has a good rapport with the military. The government is well known for sending out the troops to do the dirty work, the work that brings back intelligence and saves the day, while the generals and admirals and so on collect their checks and add more bars to their uniforms.

Support of the military doesn't automatically mean support of the government.

The character of ex Marine sniper/now Special Agent Gibbs (NCIS) said it best: "Don't call me sir! I work for a living!"

That's how Bay sees the soldiers, and the government.

Oh I'm aware that support for the two are not necessarily connected. As someone who respects our soldiers I'm totally ok with how Bay represents them in his films.

Still, yeah, I wanna see that chick get fed to Shockwave's giant worm thing. That's no way to talk to the kid who helped save the Earth twice (and technically the entire solar system once).

Right right, jethro!

On topic, I've seen an improvment in acting, overall, and that taxpayer line gave me a good chuckle. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow.
