lol there raising prices everywhere but i would pay 70$ for thundercracker especially since starscream was 80 when i got him from walmart.Megatron Wolf wrote:Knew they would raise the price, so what is it this time the stand justifies the extra $10? Im happy with skywarp so this is an easy pass for me.
To bad thundercracker isnt a walmart exclusive cause i dont like toyrus's policy on employees buying products.
I think he may possibly get released late september. And optimus prime is gonna be released for november or december for christmas

I am skeptical that the new mold is improved enough to justify $40 more than Skywarp ($30 clearance sale at Walmart), but we'll see.

Gettin this no matter what - & hopefully don't have to pay > $69. Hopefully there is some kind of coupon out at the time i find him. Now where's that Prime?!?!?!?!

Maybe Starscream will be Takara exclusive while Thundercracker will be Hasbro exclusive? Well that's just my assumption xP.
Will pass on this since I already have Starscream but gotta say he looks great.

My TRU is a pain to get to and I can't justify making the trek if there's no guarantee of stock.

Because we got a Starscream out of the original mold back in 2008 or so. That's our MP Starscream, according to Hasbro.

So even if I wanted this, as I originally wanted a loose piece to stand guard with my MISB pieces (which I seriously need categorize before sending off to AFA)... This experience (and what I have read on the production practices used to make their stuff) has me think I should pass. Even though it does look nice. Even if my small collection is 70% Cybertron and 10% Autobot. Gah! Decisions!

In street clothes paying cash at a different location, how would they know youre an employee ? Or give a friend the cash and text him what shelf you stash it before some kid finds it...

No, it's quite a bit more detailed, intricate and articulated.
But $70 seems a little high. I really hope they don't jack it up even higher for the Canadian release.

Here is a side by side with the original MP Seeker mold. They are the same size.

Yeah, I think on the Twincast the guys said that TRU reserves the right to increase and decrease prices on items based on the area certain stores are located. For instance I live close to DC so of course my stores would be more. I think anyway.

I 100% agree on this. The price is affordable, in my opinion, for an MP new version of the seekers. I've been waiting for this one for a while now. Can't wait to get it. I'll bet it will sell quick too. Seems the more complaints that come with new figs, the quicker it goes.....
And thanks to Lost Cybertronian for for the comparison pic.....Now I can breathe a sigh of relief........

I agree on behalf of those who either buy Hasbro only or not brand specific. And I wish that the complainers soon realize that the increase of price may mean an increase of production quality... As these items are produced in one of their Asian production factories.
As for the pricing of the Takara Tomy MPs, I have to say that the production quality and packaging is better. And adding import costs, as well as the Yen to Dollar aspect, a more hardcore collector is getting his monies worth with their line.

I'm not complaining on the price, esp. since Rodimus was $70. The one that pissed me off was the SDCC excl. FOC Bruticus at $100. If it were $75 I might have jumped, but 100? Horse*&%$. It's probably a moot point since the Hasbro line was the worst I've ever seen in 7 yrs. I knew people who waited 3+ hrs. for just the ticket to get in the line, who didn't get in. By the time people got in, days later, everything was sold out. All bitterness in this post justified? Absolutely.

Seriously. How is the ranting of a person who hates something that he cannot control "justified"?

I mean... Should I bitch about people like you with the same level of regard you gave these two companies and call it just that? How about the fact that I might be spending the same amount of money to have my collection graded, as it cost me to get it in the first place? Should I hate AFA for their increase just because I'd like to pay less?
Point is that these items do go down in price if they do not sell well. My Toys"R"Us, when I liked going there, has numerous MPs and Commemorative sets go on clearance. And the SDCC exclusive? You do understand that they pay to be there and it is not cheap, right? So those who paid that $100 paid $15 per figure, plus another $5 per figure just for the exclusiveness of the item.
So yeah... Where is the "justification" when getting angry will just stress you out, as well as sour the enjoyment of doing this kind of collecting? Because if you do not like the needed increase or price, then what does that say about your collection in the future? You need to think about that.
Because for me, I finally found something worth collecting. And while I do not like the prices I pay, as well as the fees tied to AFA, I do it because the only "justice" is either having the reason to pay said "premium" or not and enjoy what I have. And this is after 15+ years of trying to find my "collecting groove."

Posted by vectorA3 on August 22nd, 2012 @ 3:15am CDT
It's your choice to get your figures graded - even at a premium. Just as I passed on the BS "premium" price of the SDCC FOC Bruticus.
Lastly -please show me the TRU where MP Grimlock and or Rodimus went on clearance. What did they cost? Need to see that to believe it. The other big box retailers clearance much more frequently than TRU - so the frustration/bitterness is toward TRU for not following suit. Example: SW EPIII figures being clearanced finally after 2 yrs.

Let me simplify this: I have no love for either company. Nor do I have love for SDCC. Especially since Anime Expo in 2007 was better organized and cheaper than SDCC. So when it comes to me, lets say I am completely neutral on the subject.
So with SDCC version, its price is based on the following elements: The regular price + the additional cost to cover their SDCC booth costs. And with SDCC, I have read that their booth spaces are overpriced for what they are. So since they want to be there, they need to cover that and still make money.
Then again... Your complaint is part of the many issues tied to SDCC, and not just Hasbro. Plus, I heard other stories that make that issue sound mild.

As for Toys"R"Us, I used to work at the one closest to me. And from what I was told, your beef is not their fault. Blame their higher ups. But, then again, I stopped buying TFs because the last two I bought had the same QC issues, and both were different lines. That, and I find these stores to be uninspiring and make shopping online a better option.

But with the attitude towards the price and company, let me say that it is a poor move to obsess, much less get angry over such things. If the price is greater than your need, move on and allow somebody who feels differently buy it. You are the potential buyer, not a owner of the company. And when it comes to the things you collect, it should be about why you want it... Not why you skipped something you did not want because of its price.
In other words - Skip the talks of how they price their stuff, and enjoy what you do have. If you disagree with the price, then do not buy it. Just say that the price did not justify your need, and allow others to do business with them. And I say this because you are souring your time hating something you know nothing about, opposed to just using that time planning and creating a collection that says "This is me. This is what I like."

And if you cannot do that because Hasbro had a justifiable reason you do not know, then you might as well try to find something that will support your emotional and physical health... As they say that nothing is worth bitching about.

Hasbro still did that "ticket" thing for their exclusives at SDCC? In 2007 at the Con, they set it up to where you had to find their people standing in various places with a box of tickets. You had to have one to get the exclusives, but they would not tell you where they would be standing.........just give a "round about" time in which they would start handing them out. It was chaotic. I got mine by picking up some off the floor.......it was like a piranha frenzy when someone all of the sudden yelled "get your Hasbro tickets here. I was able to grab a bunch and hand to those who weren't able to get any.....

Agreed. Because despite the number of reasons a Takara/Takara Tomy MISB versions of the Masterpiece line is so much more collectible... When it comes eBay, sellers tend to jack the price on virtually anything that is highly collectible. And a good example includes the C-108 Artfire that I assume is still for sale there.

Besides, that is a very nice price you have gotten him for.

But something may be suspicious but yet confusing. If TC has no Coronation accessories, then why is he a redeco of the retooled SS (MP-11)? Looks like Hasbro forgot to not yet expose their version of MP-11, just like how they forgot to make their Skywarp was supposed to have red optics instead of yellow.
