Fellow Seibertron.com user chachipower was nice enough to send us a video review of the not-too-recently released, but somehow overlooked since September Takara Tomy Cloud Starscream! The figure, as a reminder, is part of the Cloud section of Transformers, featuring repaints and redecos of Hasbro Generations figures - in this case, Blitzwing and Doubledealer lend their body to Screamer. Wow. I really like how this turned out. The bonus tank mode took a while to warm up to, but with the null rays.... Looks great. Hope they do the other two seekers.

I'd add, if you get the add-on kit for DoubleDealer to add the missile, makes the three quite different in each mode.

This Starscream is a BotCon 2008 Exclusive, part of the "Shattered Glass" negative universe that's full of fanwank obscure references. In this case, Starscream has Jetfire's colors as a reference to their friendship in the G1 cartoon.

They're all so cool, even Cliff.
I know it's been around for a while, but where does the SG concept come from?
Some fiction, or is it just a good excuse to make cool repaints?

Yeah, the person who took that pic included Classics Cliffjumper since he met and teamed up with the SG Decepticons in the first comic.

It started as the theme of BotCon 2008 and has kinda stuck around since. It began with a since comic issue, but then grew bigger with text stories and some magazine comic issues, all published by Fun Publications for the Transformers Collectors Club.

It's basically the Transformers take on the age old science fiction concept of an alternate universe where everything's backwards. Good guys are evil. Bad guys are good. Rights are wrong. Wrongs are right. History's inverted. Etc. etc.

Such iconic examples from the past would be Star Trek's Mirror Universe that had Evil Spock with a goatee, and DC Comics's Earth-3 that had the Crime Syndicate of America (evil Justice League).

Cliff was the positive universe guy who ended up on the wrong side among all the Shattered Glass cast. I love the notion, toys, and fiction. Great fun. Too bad they are so pricy after the fact. It's hard to jump into collecting them now. Box set runs a good grand.

I'm disappointed Animated never got to do their own Shattered Glass episode, and that Prime was "too serious" for it (just imagine what a SG Knock Out would be like!).
