Even something as simple as including a link stating "You have private messages" on the Registry could be sufficient; since Factions will need to coordinate in the all-out conquest, getting those who are doing well/poorly to coordinate more will be beneficial.

That's what I was just thinking about and coming to the thread to ask.

A lot of people don't use the forums, so in game messaging would be great.

Especially if you can mass message your faction(if your a commander)

Very good thought; mass messaging even by Level, or by need.
E.g. Send this message to Players who have Transformers who have this/these tactic(s) configured... "Need rammer / medic to support strafing in mission. [Link]"

The interface would have to be on the commonly used pages though, primarily the Registry. The HMW homepage (http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/) is easily avoidable by creating bookmarks directly to the Registry or Team Page.

Perhaps the home page has details of faction communications, while the Registry has links saying "You have X private messages" and "There are new faction communications to review" taking the user to private messages or HMW home, respectively.

Edit: For a Pred that was an impressive thought. You finally had functioning CPUs installed? Congratulations.

Will V2 allow us to "schedule ahead" the addition of our Transformers to strategic missions?

This can help coordination across time zones. The system can have *some* pre-determined missions (which will play heavier on border control) which factions can coordinate to submit certain warriors into these missions by scheduling ahead.

To ensure there is no conflict with this, a Transformer cannot be submitted to wait / fight in the arena nor fight in a mission for 3 hours prior to the scheduled mission. Also, the CR chamber setting MUST ALWAYS be set to auto whenever a Transformer is scheduled for a future battle.

I have suggested to OS that the faction commanders be allowed to post messages that would appear either on the main HMW page, or the registry, or maybe the top bar that currently shows character quotes or the missions/arena matches won statistics. I believe that OS likes the idea.

Also I've been pushing for a PM notification link to appear on the registry. It would make it much easier for us staff to contact those players who don't visit the boards.

This part I can't answer. I'm sure it's been thought of, and probably has been debated at least once or twice here. Whether or not it'll see its way into the game, I don't know.

Thanks for the response Mkall.

To clarify another point...

Mkall wrote:14. Do I have to take part is what my faction is doing? I can't keep track of it all/
You don't have to. The Mission, Asrena and The Pit are all there for you to play regardless of what is going on in the warmap. You may also play on the Warmap without worrying about coordinating with other players. However don't expect to have much of an impact without the rest of the army.

So the warmap is *separate* from missions / arena / pit. Active Transformers may be entered in one of those 4 areas, but only entries into the warmap specifically will impact control of Cybertron.

Correct?

That is correct as far as my understanding goes, which of course means it could be something completely different :P

Hi. I've been out of the loop for a while and there are almost 50 pages to this thread. Is there a place where I can get an up to date summary of what's going on with v2? :???:

Check the home page. There's something in the news feed about Dec. 14 and how "Cybertron will never be the same again." Has something to do with "The Voice of Destruction."

Ah. I very often bypass the front page and come right to HMW... :P

I suppose it COULD be HMW v2... But I'm skeptical. Especially since we were told we would be warned well in advance that HMW v2 was coming. Of course, it could be an announcement of the warning that HMW v2 is coming, but that seems just silly.

If it is v2, that only gives me a week to pick up the remaining two spots I need to get into the top 50 overall.

Unless it's the announcement of some big send-off of v1?

Or, maybe it's something to do with the rest of the site outside HMW. I know, I know it's a crazy idea, but it just might be true. :-?

Unless OS has been hiding things from all the staff, the Voice of Destruction thing has nothing to do with V2

That would actually mean that WE have a clue. And let's not turn this topic into the Voice of Destruction topic please. There's already a thread for that here
