Hasbro MP-04 Masterpiece Prowl Revealed

Doesn't look much different (if at all) from the Takara version. A little paint missing on the bumper in car mode, but present in robot mode.

Only two real questions....is the box the same size as MP Soundwave and Acid Storm? Prowl isn't nearly as big as the Seeker mold, and doesn't come with anough accessories to justify the larger size box that Soundwave came in.

Also, pricing? If it's around $60 or so, I'll be glad I got my Takara release. A year earlier, easier to find (if past MP releases of popular characters are any indication), and not that much more money.

If I've learned one thing from my life as a Transfan, it's patience. Hadn't saved up for Takara's, passed on those leftover parts KOs (I bought Red Alert's, and got what I paid for), and now THIS!

And if he's on TRU shelves the same time as the MP Grimlock rerelease, it'll be like watching their arguments from the end of the Marvel U.S. run on the store shelves.
(Hopefully Underbase-ish Platinum Starscream will finally be gone by then, for continuity's sake)

More popular than Acid Storm, but up there with Optimus and Soundwave? Nah, he won't be that hard to find.

And since Acid Storm's box was one size smaller than Soundwave's, my guess is Prowl's will be about one inch less in width and height.

Well as far as I've always seen, he's more popular than Hot ROd/Rodimus Prime, and I NEVER saw him on shelves...got him via eBay (though thankfully, for not much more than retail). Gotta wonder, too, with his more prominent role in the current comics, if that'll spark a bit more interest than there would have been.

That makes sense. I don't know what else they COULD include to make the box as big as even Acid Storm's, other than empty space.

I too bought the Takara one but since I only paid about $60 shipped (maybe a little less), which is what it is looking like this one will cost, no big deal.

I paid a little over $90 for the Asian market one. Even $60 I feel is a bit much for what we're getting.

Having the Takara one there's no reason to get a Hasbro one, especially for Prowl. But I do like the box.

Due the cost of collecting these I've been reluctant to start getting serious with Masterpiece figures but of course now I want them all now that they seem intent on making all the main characters. What sucks is I saw my Grimlock, Skywarp, and Optimus get me offers double or sometimes triple what I paid so I sold them all thinking they would never make a full set of Masterpiece figures. Who knows how much of a bitch karma will be to me while trying to buy those back again.

I think I was $75 or thereabouts for the Japanese one online. I suspected that out of any of the new licensed car ones, Prowl would be the most likely to get a US release, but it wasn't set in stone.

The lack of Sideswipe or any news about anything from Hasbro, and my love of Prowl (both the character and the MP mold) combined to plenty of reason for buying it when I knew I could. I'm not worried. This new box is fairly nice looking, but the black T/T one fits with the rest of mine anyway, and whilst I suppose this might turn up on shelves in TRU's here, I'm not counting on Hasbro UK.

Nice one for folks who missed out or passed for whatever reason before though. He's a great toy.

My wife got mine for Christmas, so this gives hope for others to be released soon..

$60 is expensive, probably due to the license. But if he has the chrome missile launchers I'll give the price a pass and buy him.

That box will look awesome next to the MP Soundwave box, as will Grimlock! I like the way they're packaging the new MPs.

I did NOT like the packaging of MP Thundercracker. That box is now in storage, while my MP SW box is on display.

I ALMOST did the same when TFsource made some available on Amazon during the holidays, but Prowl sold out so I got Bluestreak (Streak) instead. Now I'm glad that happened.

So really, no visible differences between Takara's and this one.

Tempting, tempting... I'd like to see the final price for it before making a conclusion.

We won't know for sure what it acutally looks like until there are in-hand photos, but it looks good. Awesome for those who missed out on the Takara version. The pricing is unfortunate though, based on the general consensus of how much it's going to be. If you know where to look the Takara version was cheaper.

In the case of Wheeljack and Bumblebee while I believe we'll see those eventually I want to be sure I get the extras so I'm keeping my pre-orders

Based on the two Hasbro Masterpieces I own (first MP Optimus Prime and Skywarp), it's satisfactory. I haven't had any issues with chipping paint or anything like that for my Masterpieces.

Since MP 10 there has been little to no difference. A different app here or there, like with Soundwave but nothing drastically different.

Well, if they couldn't/didn't get the Lamborghini license for Sideswipe, it's not likely that they could do Red Alert without said license either.

If it's identical to the Takara release, then that means Reprolabel won't have to make a different set of decals, so maybe that's the silver lining.

Already got my Prowl but really looking forward to getting my hands on a Sunstorm.

While not exactly breaking news, the official Transformers Facebook page has posted some images and release information on the upcoming Hasbro Masterpieces MP-03 Grimlock and MP-04 Prowl. Both will be Toys"R"Us exclusives, expect Grimlock to start arriving on store shelves soon with Prowl arriving in August.

While I wish Grimmy had his accessories(apron, Computron helmut, etc.) if I see this I'll probably get it. I never got the first TRU version way back whenever, and his crown certainly does look nice. Now all he needs is a throne!

Oh my gosh....I JUST noticed that in these pictures, Grimlock's dino-mode feet are turned backwards in the out of package pic. With the box presumably available as a reference. Photography fail.

Is anyone besides me tempted to get another MP Grimlock so I can open one? (I still have the original MISP)

Also, I'm curious about the size of Prowl's packaging. I know the new MP packaging isn't one size fits all, but with as small as Prowl is in comparison to Acid Storm and Soundwave, I wonder if his box will be noticeably smaller, too.

Well, Acid Storm and Soundwave had differently-sized boxes from one another, so Prowl's box will probably be a different size too.

Right...I just wonder exactly how small it will be. I have both Soundwave and Acid Storm, but I like seeing size comparisons. Wish they'd shown a picture of him next to his box so I could get an idea.
