It's a pretty loose interpretation. I think what Will was pointing out is that Takara was referencing something specific, instead of it just being a random "Space Cruiser".Sigma Magnus wrote:Nexus Knight wrote:I am I the only failing to see the similarities with Leo's ship mode and the Yukikaze? So instead of him captaining the Yukikaze he is the Yukikaze? That's... pretty neat, actually. Wish Hasbro had done something similar w/ AT.
Japan , when are you never awesome? * remembers something* Oh... right.

But is that the official word, though? Did Takara actually claim that they're using the ship mode to represent the Yukikaze, or even that they simply colored it in homage to the Yukikaze, or is it just an assumption that we fans have made? Cuz I don't recall hearing anything from an official source about the ship mode being the Yukikaze or even just being colored after it.Nexus Knight wrote:Cobotron wrote:It's a pretty loose interpretation. To me, it just looks like the base plastic colors carried over from the other modes into the ship mode, while the windows got painted blue because blue is an extremely common color that windows typically get painted on toy vehicles.
After all, the Yukikaze was predominately cream and violet, and there's not a speck of violet anywhere on this toy, let alone its ship mode. Also, there's no giant blue Maximal symbols on either side of the ship mode, which were proudly displayed on the Yukikaze in places where this toy instead just has plain white surfaces that could have easily had a blue

Its a loose interpretation. And I just added that detail for us to see if it even is a decent interpretation or not.
The part that makes me think there is definite intent is that blue cockpit at the top, its exactly where that same blue can be found on the Yakikaze

Sorry, WJ88, I'm gonna have to give this idea the thumbs down as well. The human brain is wired to figure out patterns, which is why we often want to see patterns where there are none, hence wanting the alt mode for Legends Leo Convoy to mean more than it really does. This is also why conspiracy theories can be so compelling, since they give agenda and reason to events that are random, and therefore scary. Of course, I'm not trying to say that you're a conspiracy theorist, lol! Any similarity at all between the Yukikaze and Legends Lio Convoy's spaceship mode is just coincidence, in my opinion.

I'm not quite sure, but I'm starting to think you might like Beast Wars: Uprising

It's arguably the most prolific fiction the Club ever put out (for free, even, save for some few magazine-only stuff).Kurona wrote:I'm not quite sure, but I'm starting to think you might like Beast Wars: Uprising
Arguably some of the most prolific TF fiction ever, right up there with some of James Roberts' works. Jim Sorenson and David Bishop are darn good writers.

Can't say I have any doubt of that - TFCC fiction has already struck a chord with me as second only to IDW in terms of quality TF fiction thanks to Of Masters and Mayhem. That Alpha Bravo/Offroad story, man...

And his function on the packaging in English reads "Ancient -----ot". Could that be "Ancient Autobot"? If so, that's bizarre considering he's a character from the future.

That... is very strange. If it's another clone situation like Convobat or a predecessor situation or, just generally, a different character; the choice to have Sentinel's face doesn't bother me as much as it does if this is supposed to be Lio Convoy.

Prime Arms Micron Leo Prime is an aged, dimension-hopping incarnation of Lio Convoy, so this could be an alternate form of him.

Tis the first time we've seen it come from the source of TakaraTomy itself. Online shops and such don't always label their toy listings correctly.Emerje wrote:I thought the figure being called Leo Prime rather than Lio Convoy was old news? e-Hobby is a Japanese store that only sells to Japan, they have no reason to list it as anything other than what Takara Tomy tells them to, same with the magazines. If it were HLJ which regularly changes Japanese names into English ones I could understand some skepticism, but you aren't going to see that from sources that cater only to Japan. AmiAmi also gives all of their toy listings in Japanese under the English name (トランスフォーマーレジェンズ LG41 レオプライム). Now, if it really does say "Ancient Autobot" behind his leg then that is something new.

Unlike Broadcast and rewind, the latter slides in smoothly. But in SW, Ravage has some issues. The pseudo screw gets in the way of the basket like device that holds the tablets in. Haven't opened Condor yet. Hopefully no issues with him too.
Funy enough, even though I have all the tabletcons and soundwave, I havent played with them together yet. For some reason I have had enough fun playing with them individually. I should get on to that though.
Could you also check if the issues I have are the same with yours? That d@mn pseudo screw
Ok so I finally had a chance to check and yeah Ravage is not a smooth entry. The jaguar head side fares a bit better though. Rewind/Rumble is super smooth on the end that is less wide.
See thats the trick to a good penetration, you have to be less wide at the tip to slide down better.

I've got both. The only real difference is a few more red paint apps on the Takara version, most notably on the chest and the ankles of robot mode. While these paint apps match up with Jetfire's most recent IDW appearances, they are actually LESS accurate to his G1 cartoon appearance. The plastic colors are identical. For my Classics display, I use the Hasbro Leader Jetfire figure with the Takara Leader Jetfire's non-chromed accessories.

You can post them here too. It wouldnt derail anything since we are still conversing in the Legends Thread, which is the thread where Legends Jetfire could be discussed

While the biggest difference (but not the only one as the Wolfman explained) is the presence of chrome, its pretty funny how its Hasbro who got the chrome this time around rather than Takara. In the Japan Classics versions (so Henkei, Gentai, United), they always felt more premium due to the chrome. The seekers are a great example. And they look freaken awesome too. But then for Jetfire, Hasbro got the premium chrome and all of a sudden it was as if chrome became a cheap ugly deco.
Its as if Chrome was only cool if it meant you had to pay more money for it.
End rant (not directed at any of you anyway, but at this board 2.5 years ago).

Eh, it's just such a fingerprint magnet. It doesn't really help at all and it feels... weird, especially when contrasted to the plastic. It's just not something I enjoy.
Plus the painted detail is nice... but it's in places where it's clearly not supposed to be and paints over certain molded detail just for the sole purpose of slavishly recreating an exact colour scheme even when it doesn't work with the mold itself. Which is weird, because this isn't a Takara toy.

I gotta go with Will on this. I didn't realize just how toy accurate he was until I opened him. But, I see the down sides of chrome too. I love it and think it works really well.
I just finished editing a thing for work and I'm feeling nit picky.

Back to Legends.
Anxiously awaits Lio Convoy (Leo Prime)

I still need to remove the chrome from my Jetfire. It's the only time that taking something away from a figure actually feels like an upgrade.
