Ok, I hope whoever is in charge of the distribution here in Mexico gets fired, (s)he is doing a god-awful job.

Doesnt look like it. But thena gain, he got the G1 treatment that others didnt get. That's better than Slash, he got nothing at all aside from his deluxe release.

He, Slog and Slash to an extent never even appeared in the movie as I've heard so no point in making "movie-accurate" decos for them.

Now that I think about it, I am surprised Slog got in the Dinobots Unleashed pack.

I'm guessing that they included him so they'd have another Voyager-Class figure in the package to justify the price.

Dog is funny, but his non-gimmick front leg is too loose so he have a hard time standing on all four. Prowl is based on Drift and he's quite nice. Megatron is quite big and he got a very minimalist but effective transformation.

Buyer Aware!
The Age of Extinction Voyager and Deluxe figures have been KOed!
Spotted these on SirToys.com but are probably elsewhere so be careful folks.

-Kanrabat- wrote:WTF would they KO standard toys that are available everywhere for cheap? It make no sense. The only KO I would accept and buy is an upscaled voyager AOE Galvatron to AoE Leader size.

The moulds could have been copied or stolen while everything was new and at full price, which could explain that.

If it becomes anything like the various TF Prime figures that got knocked off, we will probably see recolours and upscales, probably with Optimus Primes head attached to all of them!

If the Voyager Hound and Galvatron had actually been released over here in the UK at Toys R Us or Smyths then I would have picked them up but as Hasbro couldn't be bothered I will be ordering these come pay day!

Do you have any links to these or pictures to show? It's the first time I hear of this for the Prime line.

All sorts of Prime good ness to be seen here bud, big ones, small ones, some as big as your head!

Heres a few for you to me going on with...

On topic: I have finally picked up my first AoE figure, the Evasion Mode Optimus as part of the Evolution 2 pack, flames and all!
As the regular version is no longer available via Toys R Us (at least online or in my local store) I might get the KO of that as well, but will have a little fiddle with the Flamin Evasion one first!

I'd be more wary of those KO AOE figures if I were you. The plastic on them looks terrible, overly bendy and cheap.

I love the chromed grill and legs, However the wind vane is completely devoid of paint. For some reason. A silver Sharpie should remedy that, but it puzzles me why the Wind vane / Gun has no paint. In any case, the hinge it pegs on to is quite loose, so it drops back in truck mode, and has a hard time staying up in robot mode if you choose to keep in on his back. Not sure if I can tighten a pin hinge though.
Other than that, Evasion mode prime is very nice. The silver feet are a nice improvement over the thick blue feet of the original Hasbro release. The blue shoulders still scream for some paint though.
All in all a petty decent set.
Not sure I can say the same about the Grimlock set though. Still debating whether the set is worth buying if I only want the Energon Mold. Not to interested on Movie Grimlock. and I'd need to go hunt an Energon Swoop to go wit him. Maybe I can find a 2 pack on clearance after Christmas. They don't seem to be moving around here.

For G1 toy-accuracy. G1 Prime's gun was solid black and the top of his truck cab was solid red.Overcracker wrote:However the wind vane is completely devoid of paint. For some reason. A silver Sharpie should remedy that, but it puzzles me why the Wind vane / Gun has no paint.

Yup, totally agree with that. However, that doesnt excuse the vane from being super loose.

Hmm, I guess I can buy that. Bur yeah, the hinge for the vane is unforgivably loose.

sorry to confuse. i personally call the AOE dinobots by their proper G1 names. cause slog, slug, strafe... those are just dumb to me.william-james88 wrote:shajaki wrote:

I've already kind of mentally committed to Slog and Grim. Debating the TRU Evo 2-pack, but all these shiny paladin specters, whew, might be worth it.
SO MANY BOTS, ONLY SO MUCH SCRATCH!

This project was an absolute monster. Pilot was brought in about 18 months before the movie came out. Though well into the design phase of all the Transformers characters, none were completed. We were working with concepts, designs, information, and deadlines that were constantly changing. It was an amazing challenge that we all rose to in typical Pilot fashion. We were brought in for everything, a total overhaul and rebrand of a toy line plagued with different packaging styles for a decade. We were tasked with uniting them under a single, new, and simplified Transformers banner and provide all designs and illustrations to go with it.

you think this is bad art because of the pose theyre in? you konw that hasbro likely says "do it like this" right? you can do it better, then lets see.monstrinhotron wrote:yuck. Everyone looks like they have one leg! The silhouette is the most important part of any character art and it's horrible in almost all of these images. Secondly the light source is flat and diffuse meaning it's even harder to make out what the hell is going on with the one giant leg pose. Thirdly the pose is so twisted and EXTREME!! it's just a mess. Usually i give character artists credit because even bad character art is a hard skill to master but i honestly and genuinely could do this much better. simply horrible.

I don't even like the AOE character design, and I think this art looks GREAT. Those poses are really dynamic. Maybe the one legged pose leaves space on the card so the blister doesn't cover all the art.

To some extent yes. It's possible that changing packaging designs too much could make the product difficult for the consumer to spot easily on a shelf

Sure. Like i said. I don't get the opportunity to do character art that often so i actually have great respect for the skill. You can check out my (mostly non character art) over at nogunarmy.com
I also understand that clients can slowly turn the best work into dogshit with idiotic feedback until you just don't care anymore. I've had that happen to me. I wonder if that's what happened here. Some of the poses aren't that bad, but the running poses are just awful.

To be honest, of all the movie lines, I feel this is the best one. The robots looked more like robots than aliens for once and there was attention to detail in giving two extremities of design, either vehicle integration or not. Sure, the leaders from ROTF and DOTM were better but as a whole, the toys showing onscreen characters were far superior than the previous lines to me, and more fun to collect.

In other words, "yeah, this character art sucks and I can do better character art, so to prove it to you, go to my website where I post all art except for non-character art." Nice way to back up your argument.
