Are you thinking of G2 Dreadwing? He kinna looks like that in alt mode but the colors are different.

But I'm probably going to remove the Cybertronian symbols on his wings

From this angle its really hard to tell there's a robot in there, which is always a good thing.

For Mindwipe, I don't really know, it looks to be a decent figure. The purple is a bit weird, didn't expect to see that there. I think the Robot mode will sell me though.

As far as I know, it's just vehicle to vehicle. Although it would be awesome in Skystalker makes some armor for Mindwipe in bot mode.

Think you're mixing him up with Cybertron Soundwave.

I think it's a little of both. Thank you for clearing that up.
As for the tpy, I'll wait for some robot mode and combined mode pics. The vehicle mode looks good though.

1. Why dont they cut the chase and just name him Whisper ??? He clearly is a homage to this G1 Micromaster character...
2. Why cant Hasbro stop putting these annoying Chinese letters on the toys. It is so unrealistic...
3. Why didnt the guy who took this unofficial picture take the time to transform him to robot mode for us to see ???
Just curious...

FYI those are not Chinese letters/characters. These are the things Sam had in his head in ROTF, they are the cybertron languague symbols thingy.. You can see them on the first ROTF Starscream too..

I don't think he's supposed to be a throwback to whisper. G1 mindwipe transformed into a bat, and seeing as how there's no animal forms in the movieverse (other then ravage of course) then what better plane to help pull off the "bat" image then the F117 Stealth?

I don't think it's a very good throwback to Whisper. War Within Mindwipe was a sonic fighter jet that looks like this jet, only it had more G1 colors on it. Letters are movie related tie ins for ROTF toys. You don't see them on Universe or Animated. Lastly, those are quick pictures taken in an area where you're not suppose to be taking pictures. One snap is all he or she can get away with.
Personally I love the look of this guy. Can't wait.

You have characters that are actually in the movie and you have new characters, homages, and repaints that are added to keep the movie line going for profit. This guy probally will never see the big screen. As far as the asian lettering, it may be "Cybertronian" but by the shapes and styles you can see it is roughly based on asian text most likely Chinese because Japanese has more straight lines and boxes in its lettering. But I feel the whole point of transforming into an earth vechicle is to camoflauge. That is why many of the first movie line vechicles didnt even have Autobot or Decepticon symbols. It just looks more real. For 25 years we have never really seen excessive Cybertronian writing in any storyline...why all of a sudden does every character need tattoos now ??? Was this Michael Bay's idea or Hasbro's ??? Throwing it on Starscream in the movie to give him a "rebel" look was kind of cool but every character need not have them all over their body...
I'd await Nebular Starscream's bio for the answer to that, as those Cyberglyphs aren't mere decorations, they give some ancient power. And the only Chinese I've seen on any toy is on Voyager Prime. Those Cyberglphs don't come close to that.

I use to think this too until I started noticing that alot of the vehicles used were actually in the movie. They just were real world machines and didn't transform into anything. Most of the additional charachters in the 1st movie toys had alt modes that were actually in the movie. It's just now Hasbro has taken it alot farther with repaints and such but if I'm not mistaken I thought I saw this alt mode for Mindwipe in the movie.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one hoping a Bugly will come out so The Fallen can have all three of his disciples. The moment these figures were announced to the general public (Mindwipe and Bludgeon) I was calling for a Bugly to complete the "Chaos Trinity"Desslok wrote:Let's see... We've got the Fallen, and going back to War Within Dark Ages #1, the three Decepticons which freed him in that storyline were Bludgeon, Mindwipe, and Bugly. We've got three of the four so far, so should we be expecting a pretender in classics 3.0? I doubt it, but I can hope...

It's Hasbro's idea. IT builds more lore, and a reason to repaint the shit outta things. Starscreams tats aren't because he's a rebel so much as they make him stronger. those symbols are nanobots that boost his power. kinda like movie universe minicons.

That's because they're not restricted to a pre-designed robot mode with an absolute alt mode, and very little real way to get from one to the other without ten thousand moving parts. They can just create something "in the style of", with lots more freedom of design.

A very good point. I'm in awe of those designers who actually managed to design a movie-accurate ROTF Prime, even if it took them four years. Given the time constraints and the overall difficulty of designing Bayverse toys, the fact that they were able to come up with even decently accurate figures is a wonder.

Adding to the awesomeness of the achievement of the design of RotF Leader OP is the fact that the toy designers aren't simply given free reign to design a toy. They apparently have a restriction on the number of parts they can use for different classes of figures...taking that into consideration, the great design of RotF Leader OP is something I constantly praise.
