Thanks to a heads up from our own staff we have learned that the WalMart exclusive Transformers G1 reissue of the Constructicon giftset is back in stock at WalMart.com! The Constructicons came and went with some states seeing him only briefly last year, and others more recently on clearance only a few months ago. He's still listed at full price at $74.00US but if you were reluctant to take the plunge on this set and regretted missing it, here's your second chance. Great news for you Americans!
Even if it's a bit pricey, it's cheaper than the vintage original and it's way better than some Chinese bootleg.

If you dig many pages back, I asked that question because the Takara Encore "anime colored" version that I got was stable as a house of cards. But the Walmart one was confirmed to be rock solid.

Damnit! I just missed out again! I had to wait until today to make an order, and of course, now it's out of stock, even though it stayed in stock for several days. I kept checking back when I first heard G1 Devastator was restocked at Walmart.com, and on the day when I can finally order it, it's gone! :-(

Huh, one of my local Walmarts restocked Soundwave. Haven't seen him for over a month since the original stock sold out. I've seen the tapes come and go a few times, but this was the first time I've seen Soundwave in a while.

I have 7 Walmart's in my immediate area. As of thursday, they all still had plenty if Soundwaves and cassettes. Selling out is wholly dependent on location. I was a complete fool to pay full price.

No, you did the right thing.
Because distribution is always a gamble and when you bought yours, you cannot know how much would be available.

Also, SEVEN Walmarts in your area. Man. The USA have LOTS of people. Or if you have a car, it make "your area" much larger.

My whole city have 3 Walmarts and they are very far appart. Got no car and Laval busses suck. Only Montreal have 12, but that's for the whole island. Hunting there would require me to spend the whole day and buy an expensive weekend bus pass for that purpose alone. Something I never did. Guess, I'll just stick with my old TrU reissue.

Unless you already have the cassettes, you should have gotten them. Soundwave himself is much more common.

Wanted to shout out to the gang I also saw 5 Soundwaves and 1 Cassette pack at my local Wal-Mart...which is by nobody :lol:

but just the same check your local stores if you regretted passing them up the first time this might be your last chance.

Swerve and Devy are still the only 2 reissues i've gotten so far. I'll get them if they are cheaper and I have money, but they are low on priority list.

From what I understand the 2009 version has a clear chest while the 2019 version has a tinted chest like the original and is lacking a rub sign.

Yeah, there don't seem to be any complaints about the QC on G1 Vintage series Devastator, in as far as structural integrity and functionality. However, there do seem to be some changes made to the mold and assembly for some figures, like molded details being less sharp and more shallow than before, pins being used instead of screws, the green plastic being a slightly different shade, etc.

What I find interesting is how Hasbro has chosen either to update figures or not. They obviously aren't using the G1 rub signs, but then there are some subtle things like extra paint apps on the Minibots, using the remolded Bumblebee head instead of the vintage visored one, whereas with other releases, they don't make any changes to the original toy's presentation when they easily could, like giving Optimus Prime or Soundwave their respective cartoon blue and red optics, instead of the toy yellow. Is there any rhyme or reason to it?

I still never saw any G1 cassettes nor Soundwave at my local Walmart. At least there's still the minibots including lots of Bees.

BTW, Walmart.ca is bullcrap. Even when filtering the item by seeing sold by Walmart only, there's still lot of items at "Amazon" boosted prices. >:oP

I just got back from my local Walmart and it had a TON of Soundwaves. Like, so many they were piled up on top of each other right up to the underside of the next shelf above. There must have been at least 10 of them, when there were previously usually only ever 2 or 3 there at the most.

The Walmart exclusive G1 Astrotrain reissue has been spotted at Walmart in the US. Like Soundwave and Optimus Prime, it is also $50 and comes in a gorgeous G1 box. They were found by Michael who found them at a Walmart in Farmingdale N.Y. It was the only one on the shelf. He posted it on Facebook and our fellow Seibertronian Lorekeeper sent this our way.

Boooo! Would have possibly spent full price on sight if Astrotrain was in prototype/cartoon/box art colors, but as a standard reissue I can wait for the better price. Hopefully they bring back the mini cars so we'll have something else to look for.

His price is a 75% mark up from the original, accounting for inflation. The gap in original value/production cost and new pricing gets larger as these reissues go on. It's getting a bit absurd.

That's the only mildly interesting part of this one for me. I'm extremely disappointed they didn't go with this opportunity to make one like the Collector's Edition New Year's Special but with a deeper purple.

edit: comparing the train's stock image to the site gallery, I think the purples may be quite different. Could be lighting, of course.

Sideswipe was the KB exclusive, I got mine from a KB Toys Liquidator store and never saw them at regular stores. Astrotrain was a Hasbro Toy Shop exclusive, though I could have sworn I saw him at TRU, but I guess my memory is off.

Whoa! The Op without his trailer was a big stretch for $50. Soundwave is a larger figure and comes with an additional figure, so that's almost fair.
But this?
Astrotrain for $50? No way! He's a small figure with one accessory. Uh, uh, nope, not me.

You'd think Walmart and Hasbro would catch on after every year having to mark these down and sell them on clearance.

I'm okay with paying the higher price, as long as it means that they will still be making Transformers. The more money they bring in, the longer the toyline will exist - which in my books is a great thing

Checked my local Walmart last night while out shopping. No sign of G1 Astrotrain yet (or Siege Astrotrain, for that matter), but they had a TON of "Classic Animation" Optimus Primes warming the shelf. Seriously, they had almost two dozen of them.
