Which more or less was the inspiration CW drew from. Those spike knuckles are so bad@ss!
I wouldn't worry Silly, If a figure that old is still sitting around then it won't disappear in the next few weeks. But, let me show you a trick.SillySpringer wrote:I just saw on BBTS that they also have Encore Sky Lynx for about 120 USD! I just might be able to get both Preds and Lynx for about 220 USD! I wish it to you, those are both great toys!

Yeah, its a feedback loop. But to be honest, I find the hands and feet on G1 predaking to be better than any HFGs.
SillySpringer wrote:That is awesome Shajaki! Thanks so much for the tip! Apparently there are also 24 Platinum Predakings in stock!
I need to ask, does the Encore version and/or the original g1 version of Sky Lynx have die-cast?

"HFGs"?

Hand foot guns, thats what people are calling the combiner wars hands (which are also feet and guns).
Also Skylynx has no diecast in any version. They stopped making TFs with die cast in generation one after the movie (as a general rule, dont know if there are some exceptions).
But he does have a motorized function which can make the shuttle (with base) roll and make the lynx walk and also have the fully combined skylynx walk. Hes a huge toy, its really cool.

Sideswipe from Breakdown
Hoist from Trailbreaker
Ratchet from First Aid
G1 Scourge from one of the Aerialbots

The only one of those I can see happening is Ratchet because of Botcon. Aside from that I doubt any of this because Platinum doesn't do any new characters from the original mold that you can't buy on their own; they don't even do any original molding - and rightly so; I'd be outraged if they only way I could get a character was paying absolute top dollar for a Premium Platinum set. They're just Premium paint schemes.

How do you feel about the Platinum Sweep with the Devcon head? That might be the closest analog to this situation...

Well... for one thing it's very similar to the botcon head, and for another; it's a sweep. No-one really cares about the sweeps on their own, it's a sweep. It's more cannon-foddery than the vehicons wearing red shirts.

warzon3 wrote:I'm basing this off the recent 86 movie tribute sets... they have been giving us new heads with the Junkion and Sweep. Other than heads they are just repaints...
However, it seem to me those sets sort have missed the mark since most people already have these figures.
Giving us some more Combiner Wars characters to complete some of these groups seems more enticing. Sunstreaker needs his Lambro, Trailbreaer and Ironhide need their mold mates. Galvatronus needs a Scourge.
Also it would be nice if they could give us an official Masqurade set... which means a Jazz and a Windcharger.
Also how about a Beachcomber from Swindle?

That said, that was just a minor point - the main one being that if the overexpensive Platinum sets were the only way to get these characters, it'd be absolutely terrible. There should be an alternate way to get them, and the Platinum sets should just be premium paint jobs that also in part serve to reissue older molds for a cocurrent toyline.
SillySpringer wrote:Hmm I am actually kinda now thinking that Predaking may not be as good of an option as I thought. I like him, but I only recently have kinda wanted to get him. I think it would be a better option to get the guy I have been wanting for a year now. That being: Platinum Supreme Starscream. I like Predaking, but he seems to be hard to keep together and such. He is more of a shelf piece, whereas SSS is more playable. Also, SS is for about 80 USD on BBTS currently. Best deal on him I could find for a while.
When it comes to opportunity cost, I feel that the one I want more is the one I should get, rather than the one everyone likes more. Also, the original version of Supreme Starscream came out about the time I first learned about Transformers, which was around 2004 to 2006. Cybertron toys are really nostalgic to me, even though I hate the show.

Arent all Optimus heads just slightly modified from one another? But your right thats beside the point. I dont get your main point though, especially when you write "If" and "it would". It's definite. 2 sets this year are the only way to get a sweep with an alternate head AND the Junkheap head at retail. One head is new and the other head is only available through more expensive exclusivses. Plus last year, Platinum Perceptor had exclusive accessories that were made to work with the G1 mold, it was pretty cool. And the platinum release was the only way to get it.
Plus, the platinum line did confirm taht this is how we would get toys that were once region exclusive, like the Platinum RID set which is the only way to get voyager RID grimlock at american retail. So no Ifs, this is already the case.
