I just saw on BBTS that they also have Encore Sky Lynx for about 120 USD! I just might be able to get both Preds and Lynx for about 220 USD! Lets just hope they don't sell out before I can get ahold of Preds, and Sky Lynx for my brothers! :D

I wish it to you, those are both great toys!

Yeah, its a feedback loop. But to be honest, I find the hands and feet on G1 predaking to be better than any HFGs.

I wouldn't worry Silly, If a figure that old is still sitting around then it won't disappear in the next few weeks. But, let me show you a trick.

This works with many online sites. If you want to know what their inventory is for an item, add it to your cart. Then go to your cart and update the quantity to something astronomically high. When you hit "update cart" it should auto adjust for what they have in stock, or what their max allowable quantity per person is (in BBTS's case it's 25).

Have a look. I added Encore Skylynx to cart, and changed the quantity from 1 to 55.

Image

After you update, it auto adjusts and bam. You can see they have 14 Lynx's in stock. ;)^

That's just not right. They're denying me my dream of an army of 55 Sky Lynxes.

That is awesome Shajaki! :D Thanks so much for the tip! Apparently there are also 24 Platinum Predakings in stock! :D I need to ask, does the Encore version and/or the original g1 version of Sky Lynx have die-cast?

Hand foot guns, thats what people are calling the combiner wars hands (which are also feet and guns).

Also Skylynx has no diecast in any version. They stopped making TFs with die cast in generation one after the movie (as a general rule, dont know if there are some exceptions).

But he does have a motorized function which can make the shuttle (with base) roll and make the lynx walk and also have the fully combined skylynx walk. Hes a huge toy, its really cool.

I'm hoping later down the road we get some more CW characters as platinum sets:

Sideswipe from Breakdown
Hoist from Trailbreaker
Ratchet from First Aid
G1 Scourge from one of the Aerialbots

The only one of those I can see happening is Ratchet because of Botcon. Aside from that I doubt any of this because Platinum doesn't do any new characters from the original mold that you can't buy on their own; they don't even do any original molding - and rightly so; I'd be outraged if they only way I could get a character was paying absolute top dollar for a Premium Platinum set. They're just Premium paint schemes.

How do you feel about the Platinum Sweep with the Devcon head? That might be the closest analog to this situation...

Well... for one thing it's very similar to the botcon head, and for another; it's a sweep. No-one really cares about the sweeps on their own, it's a sweep. It's more cannon-foddery than the vehicons wearing red shirts.

 Yeah, I see that point. I'm just thinking that Hasbro has given us something in the Platinum series (and maybe the other Junkion too?) close to the list above. And this has me thinking. Perhaps this is a good idea for the new Hasbro Collector's club Seibs started a thread on. If Platinum isn't appropriate to get these final few CW molds some of us collectors are looking for, maybe a new club offering is appropriate.

Provided each figure isn't $80 #-o

I'm basing this off the recent 86 movie tribute sets... they have been giving us new heads with the Junkion and Sweep. Other than heads they are just repaints...

However, it seem to me those sets sort have missed the mark since most people already have these figures.

Giving us some more Combiner Wars characters to complete some of these groups seems more enticing. Sunstreaker needs his Lambro, Trailbreaer and Ironhide need their mold mates. Galvatronus needs a Scourge.

Also it would be nice if they could give us an official Masqurade set... which means a Jazz and a Windcharger.

Also how about a Beachcomber from Swindle?

The Junkion head isn't new; it's from a previous e-hobby exclusive release. They don't do new heads.
I'd much rather see these as domestic releases and there's no reason for them to be platinum releases tbh. Especially with no Voyager.

Yes the heads existed, for obscure releases though.

Not all of what I suggested would require new heads, some existing CW heads could probably be shoehorned.

I give them props for the tribute, but I just don't think the interest is there on these 86 sets... I think people would be interested in more CW figures, and would pay a little extra if it was something like a store exclusive.

If you don't want to call it platinum, then don't call it platinum then...

I thought so too, but then a fan said that they were great since these offered us a deco we never had before. Since this is the celebration of the movie, where all the characters we like were getting reformatted, this is the first set to incorporate that process half way. We had them in full colour in the original release and we had a set of all clear ones, this is deco we never had before. I personally would have preferred G1 reissues of these same characters but at least now I see that there is some merrit to the existence of this set and that some fans out there are happy to fill a movie themed void.

Also it would be nice if they could give us an official Masqurade set... which means a Jazz and a Windcharger.

I was always wondering about that. Wouldnt a true masquerade homage just be Menasor? Because thats how it looked like when they were all combined. Also, you can add CW Windcharger to Optimus' chest, it was shown early on before we even got these toys.

Also how about a Beachcomber from Swindle?

But shouldnt he be the same size as the other minibots?

I don't see much of a reason honestly... if it is a new head, it looks like it's slightly modified off of Devcon.

That said, that was just a minor point - the main one being that if the overexpensive Platinum sets were the only way to get these characters, it'd be absolutely terrible. There should be an alternate way to get them, and the Platinum sets should just be premium paint jobs that also in part serve to reissue older molds for a cocurrent toyline.

Hmm I am actually kinda now thinking that Predaking may not be as good of an option as I thought. I like him, but I only recently have kinda wanted to get him. I think it would be a better option to get the guy I have been wanting for a year now. That being: Platinum Supreme Starscream. I like Predaking, but he seems to be hard to keep together and such. He is more of a shelf piece, whereas SSS is more playable. Also, SS is for about 80 USD on BBTS currently. Best deal on him I could find for a while.

When it comes to opportunity cost, I feel that the one I want more is the one I should get, rather than the one everyone likes more. Also, the original version of Supreme Starscream came out about the time I first learned about Transformers, which was around 2004 to 2006. Cybertron toys are really nostalgic to me, even though I hate the show.

Arent all Optimus heads just slightly modified from one another? But your right thats beside the point. I dont get your main point though, especially when you write "If" and "it would". It's definite. 2 sets this year are the only way to get a sweep with an alternate head AND the Junkheap head at retail. One head is new and the other head is only available through more expensive exclusivses. Plus last year, Platinum Perceptor had exclusive accessories that were made to work with the G1 mold, it was pretty cool. And the platinum release was the only way to get it.

Plus, the platinum line did confirm taht this is how we would get toys that were once region exclusive, like the Platinum RID set which is the only way to get voyager RID grimlock at american retail. So no Ifs, this is already the case.

SillySpringer wrote:Hmm I am actually kinda now thinking that Predaking may not be as good of an option as I thought.

I hear you. However I want to dispell some things you may have read:

1. Pedaking sticks well together.
2. Supreme Starscream is not more playable. He does not pose well. Both have abut the same amount of articulation. Supreme Starscream has the worst articulation among all Supreme TF toys. If you want that toy, you are better off finding a complete original second hand, they do not sell for a lot.
3. Both are as much shelfpieces. However you can pose predaking combined, all robot modes or beast modes, or a mix.

Well yeah, but those are sweeps and junkions - background generics. They're not characters anyone particularly calls for; and especially in the case of Sweeps most incarnations of them are just exact copies of Scourge anyway. ... which come to think of it means the Platinum Sweep having a different head is very... weird.
If the only way to complete the trio of Prowl, Smokescreen and Bluestreak in CW was by getting a Platinum set when the other two were retail, that'd be insane and ridiculous.
