Haven't you seen Blade-trilogy? They had many different vampire tribes who had different features and abilities. Even Drake(Dracula) was anti-sunlight vampire: meaning he didn't burn in sunlight.

Edward's sparkle was probably just a minor side-effect to his diet and sunlight-immunity.

While it IS true some Vampires are immune to sunlight (Carmilla and Dracula, who popularized the genre, were both immune to sunlight, at least in their original books, thought it weakened them greatly), the way Twilight portrayed Vampires was just straight-up wrong. Stephenie Meyer even admitted having absolutely NO knowledge of Vampire lore when she wrote the books. Werewolves in the Twilight books are just as bad.

Back on topic: I can see where people who hate the movies are coming from. I see all the little flaws they're talking about and I recognize it. I like the movie regardless, but I can see why people wouldn't like it and I accept that. It's a pity few people can be like that.

And Distressed Watcher? Saying people should be rounded up into concentration camps for liking Revenge of the Fallen? You are a skid mark on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.

I can see where they're coming from too, but I just don't see how they can say ROTF is a terrible movie. I just don't see it. If you don't like action movies, fine, but if you like Transformers and the first movie, how can you not like it? It just doesn't make sense to me. It feels like I'm trying to make sense of reality and everything that was compressed into what it is to create reality itself.

It's bias. You just can't accept other people's perspectives. It's extremely easy to not like ROFT, you just haven't been able to accept any dissenting opinions.

Or how about not label them at all, like "being stubborn and stuck in the 80's." Get over yourself. Just because some people don't like the movies, doesn't mean they're stubborn or stuck in the 80s. I liked the first film, didn't care for parts of the second. My opinion. Doesn't make me stubborn just because I disagree with you. Should I call you ignorant just because you weren't even around in the 80s to appreciate G1? No. And I won't. So stop calling people names just because they have a different opinion of a continuity.

Actually, I do believe what he said wasn't meant to be inflamatory, just worded wrong. Granted I could be wrong too, but I didn't read any hostile intent.[/quote}
Burn: Thanks for that, Burn. You are correct. You obviously know me well enough that I wouldn't be that ignorant...at least try now not to be ignorant.
Rodimus Prime: I meant to put quotes on that phrase and forgot, so I meant: "being stubborn and stuck in the 80's". I was saying that too many people use that too much because it is ignorant, rather than yelling at people myself. If you read my whole shtick there you might have or might have not picked up on that. Ironically to you maybe, I condemn that talk now since some intelligent people (such as Burn) have changed my views over the past several months. Don't automatically assume I'm being ignorant and negative. Hey, it's my fault. I said some really stupid **** when I first joined, so now a lot of people hate me for being the radical movie freak. Just don't always assume I'm being ignorant, because I've changed my mind...if I'm allowed to change my mind. I know it's more fun to think someone's being ignorant and argue it, and some like to assume the other is being a jerk so they can feel better about themselves by putting them back down and being "right", like I used to do, but at least read carefully. Go back and read my post in a different light and tell me if you see what I really mean.
And to all: I very damn well appreciate G1. I just downloaded season 1 of the show on iTunes. Oh and guess what? Movie fans like G1 too! Wow! 8-} :P
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

That whole website leaves alot to be desired except for Critic, Linkara, and Angry Joe. At least Spooney, after a very inflamatory review of RotF, came back with a brutal criticism of Roger Ebert for hating on fans of series and accusing them of leading "idiotic lifestyles" in his Fanboys review.

His rage against Ebert is captured here: http://uiforum.uaeforum.org/showthread. ... inst-Ebert

Yeah, apparently even though I grew up in the 80's with TF's, have a collection of over 1000 figures spanning G1 to Reveal the Shield, a lot of Japanese exclusives, an extensive UK comic collection ... I lack the "passion" to be a "true fan".

Probably should have mentioned I have all the dvd's as well. Oh well, I'll just have to validate my own fanism seeing as some troll (oh, he didn't know what a troll is either) won't validate it for me. :-(

Funny enough,
I was drawn back here cause I heard Vampires and Werewolves magically made an extended stay.....

Blade and Twilight, ha ha ha, I would have loved to see that.

I like how this thread is already starting to desolve into what every other thread of this nature desolves into....another extended scuffle between one side and the other, though I'm not absent such guilt. Infact I'm more then happy to say I've had my fair share. It's kind of fun, but the orgins of this thread is to point out fan boys stop being fanboys really, at it's core, and thats not going to happen. I mean, it's what makes fanboys (And girls...I'm all for equality) such and gives them their....charm.

I cannot speak in favor of one or the other because (as I've said on either this thread or another) my critique of the films is as a movie fan, not a transformer fan. Even so, when it all is stripped down, it's a movie about toys. Better yet, it's a movie about a cartoon about toys. If attacks from either side of the camp do emitionally scar you so, I suggest your problems run deeper then just the useless rants and posts that do make up an internet forum....of nearly all subjects and natures. Not just a Tf forum....any forum, it does make it more interesting though it revolves around a forum based on Transformers. Like I said before, I call for Chaos because thats what all this is, fun random banter and arguments we can all laugh about later. To call for sanity however, for me, seems the more insane of the two. ;)

"Tough I'm sure that Transformers have had their own "vampires" who feed on the others energy."

they do! the latest was the scout class decepticon dead end. any way i would like to see a twilight 30 days of night cross over... it would be short and horrifying but funny...

aaaand my 2pence worth on the movie/true fan antics... now i am one of the fans that grew up with TFs back in the day and had the luxery of a friend that frequented japan so even had some diaclone, just for some perspective.

i think what causes a lot of problems is expectations. when i saw rotf i wanted 3 things, at least 30sec of soundwave, at least 30 sec of ravage, and megatron having a cannon arm... well i got those and was happy. common ravage was just @#$%^%^&ing awesome cyclops or not and soundwave as a satalite was shere genius (the cassette player was a great toy but come on) and hey i actually liked megs apperance overall in rotf, the tread feet were cool.

and as for true fandom, well transformer was a toyline first, so imo a true fan (if there is such a thing, seems pretty subjective to me) should be number one concerned about the toys, then the media and fiction. and who can argure the fact that the movies (regardless of whether they are good or bad)have spawned some of the best transformers toys ever. also i feel that between the movie line and the animated line transformer engineering has really hit a high note of toymaking. i say roll on the third movie and i could care less if it is a steaming pile of dookie, bring on the toys!

I can imagine, I saw that "true fan" thread he started.

Sorry everyone, but it's time for Burn to burn. The dude has no respect what-so-ever. You can't debate what a private message is - IT'S PRIVATE!!! It was between me and Burn and nobody else. So with that in mind - below is the entire recent email I sent to him based on what he sent to me. But first, this is a partial segment of what he sent to me after I originally emailed him for Locking my original post:

"I don't need someone on the internet telling me i'm not a "true" fan of Transformers.
I grew up in the 80's with Transformers. They were my number one cartoon and toy.
My collection numbers over 1000 and is spread across various lines from G1 to Reveal the Shield with a lot of Japanese figures thrown in as well.
I have a UK comic collection that is near 2/3 complete.

You're either a fan of Transformers, or you're not. It really is that damn simple."

----------

So, other forum members, you can decide now for yourselves, cause you can easily interpret what Burn said as: "you're not even a fan of Transformers unless you grew up in the 80's, have over 1000 Transformers and own a 2/3 complete comic collection!"

Plus, at no point anywhere in the forums have I written down telling anyone that they definitely either are or are not a true fan - it's all been intrepretations! Yes, I think there is a difference between someone loving something and someone who is just a fan of something and I'm pretty sure it's called passion, but maybe I'm wrong. But if you are a devoted fan or a committed fan or a fanboy or a "true" fan or whatever...I say you are more than just a "fan".

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, Burn is nothing but a spoiled-rotten little school-girl gossiping on the playground at this point. And, to be fair, he needs to Lock this forum up now too because HE just started back up what HE accused me of doing in the first place - "flame baiting". And now, if he Locks this forum up, then where does it end? Someone else is going to come along...and so I say; "If you can't practice what you preach Burn...then get out of the fire." Here is EXACTLY what I wrote back to him:

froneyzone wrote:wow...then I guess I have to say that you have no passion then and just a bunch of Transformers stuff. And that right there is the difference between and true fan and just a fan...passion.

Well, either way, one day you'll be able to sell your collection or pass it along in your inheritance or whatever and keep Transformers kicking. And I have NO idea what "flame baiting" and "trolling" is? I'm old, from the 80's, remember. (but I'll look them up). And since you are accusing me of those things, you are show-boating - you really think I really care (or anybody else for that matter) how many toys and/or comics you have?

Anyway, I challenge you to pick out where I "put down" others for not liking the movies. As far as I can see the only thing I said was "You might not be a True Transformers fan if you think this new trailer is Awesome!"

I didn't make a list of here's why someone isn't and why someone is not a true fan. But even if I did - it's freedom of speech baby! Either ignore it, comment on it, and/or debate it. Plain and simple. My post was meant to be funny (as my friends and I thought it was) and to spark debate about where in the world this third film is going. Obviously I either stumbled upon a very touchy issue or just made one up - either way, just like you telling me:

"And YOU think you can sit there behind your little keyboard tap tap tapping away and telling me i'm not a "true" fan of Transformers?"

Well vice versa Burn darling...YOU can't just sit there on your BIG keyboard tap tap tapping away telling me - You're either a fan of Transformers or you're not, it's really that damn simple.

Obviously, it's not. So, we can do this dance until we are dead or agree to disagree. I choose to agree to disagree - but if you want to continue...be my guest.

oh and here's what I found: [i]Flamingbaiting hurts the feelings of the weak minded, and trolling just annoys people. Flamebaiting can easily lead to a flame war which pisses alot of people off, hurts the feelings of alot of weak minded people, and gives the mods headaches.

Now I have to look up mods!?! But dude, if you really believe that's what I meant to do, then you really need to get off the computer a bit more often! But I guess then I also have to thank you, as well, for considering me strong minded. Well, take care...and enjoy all your Transformers stuff! :BOT:

------------
And his reply was: Wow, i'm completely done with you. Go away.
------------

So, it's quite obvious that he is not completely done with me and quite obvious that he did not want to take on my challenge. And NO, I will not go away...
"til all are one!" :BOT: And yes, I like the 80's, go figure, but I know things progress - in this case I would like to see this third movie progress into a coherent storyline that at least explains why on earth nobody mentioned, since 1969, that there was a Transformers spacecraft on the moon with possible alive Transformers (it's like, "Oh no! Shockwave is finally here - maybe it's a good time now to tell the Autobots that we have Alpha Trion and their spacecraft and/or know where it is); and then please explain where the Transformers keep "dropping" out of the sky from (and outer space doesn't cut it); and how are the Transformers receiving signals to know where to "drop" to in the first place (other than Prime just posing in a Superman stance saying, "I send this message out..."; anything else would be "icing on the cake" cause we already know we're going to get AWESOME Transformers and new toys!!! But we are talking about a movie here - they are supposed to have a story. So I don't know about you, but I would prefer one that makes sense instead of just trying to "jump the shark".

To avoid having to bust out my pwn hammer (since Burn is likely to do so in about...5 minutes), here's a link to froneyzone's thread that was locked, largely due to myself, Shadowman, and others taking a strong stance against what we saw as elitism on froneyzone's part:

Anyways, instead of feeding the troll, I think it's best to let Burn handle his business.

He's less than pleased that you're putting him down, saying he doesn't have the "passion to be a true fan" when he's clearly devoted considerable time and money to the franchise.

He's not acting superior, you are.

There's no such thing as a true fan. One day, maybe you'll grow up and accept this.

Every now and then you'll get someone that takes exception to a warning you've issued on them or their thread you locked. The majority of people accept things, but there's always the odd one.

Best one I had is a fellow Australian, he was banned from an Australian TF fansite (for abusing and threatening other members) and banned from here (for abusing other members). But because i'm a member of both sites i've been drawn into the various conflicts, even though there were times I had nothing to do with his latest banning! It got to the point he was going to take things to the Police and claim cyber-harrassment against myself and staff at the Australian site, even though he was the one who constantly violated the forum rules.

Back to "thetruefan", I do find it funny that none of the initial pm to me was posted, thus making my reply look completely out of context.

Remember that folks, there's always two sides to a story, I just have better things to do. I think most of you know that I can be a bastard and a dick, but I can also be very respectful of others.

To call for sanity however, for me, seems the more insane of the two. ;)

They emotionally scar me, because it insults my intelligence. If it's my favorite movie and the whole world hates it, that means I have a problem. Or either every one else has a problem. Same thing with losing video games. When I lose, I get pissed off and blow stuff up, because it insults my intelligence. If I can't beat the game on the first try, how the hell do you think I'll do in real life if I'm faced with a similar task?

Wrong. It's not insulting your intelligence, you just get mad at your own failure. I'm actually the same way.

Dude, I don't know what games you've been playing but I seriously doubt that would ever be an issue.

Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Mass Effect.

But think about it, are these games really that far off from reality? It's possible that 2012 could be a cover up for something bigger. It's definitely possible for there to be a nuclear war. And it's possible for us to make contact with other life forms in the universe who want to kill us all!

You'd love the pm's i've gotten from froneyzone then:

I lack the "passion" to be a "true fan".

Probably should have mentioned I have all the dvd's as well. Oh well, I'll just have to validate my own fanism seeing as some troll (oh, he didn't know what a troll is either) won't validate it for me

Private messages are private, yes. But if you're going to expand on what someone else alluded to about a PM, thus agreeing with the other party to no longer keep said PM private, the following is kind of important:

So if you are going to bring your argument to the public forum for support (or lack of), bring the whole truth in full context, not that balderdash. Thank you.
