The only thing I dislike about awards is that there have been/are so many people who have played and I know I wouldn't feel comfortable if someone wasn't picked or included. I don't dislike the idea, I dislike feeling that not everyone will be included. i find it every difficult to single out specific players ad say that they are so much better than everyone else when really HMW is what it is because of everyone.
As being one of the vets who remember Rice-Ci and the others, I like the name Rice-Cies (I feel extremely dirty saying that). We could always name them after our good old friends GP and MP, like the Primaries or Seibertronians or Mkallies.

I like the idea of kind of a HMW Hall of Fame. It recognizes those who have contributed greatly the game. I know everyone has contributed, but some have done more than others. If you want to go strictly on time in the game, than have a Legends of HMW category. A post-reset group needs to be done as well. A good example would be Galvatron Supreme. He has put in the time in post reset to get to the top now, but I wouldn't consider him a "legend" as of yet. Give it a couple years and we will see. If he keeps it up, he will. He deserves to be recognized still.
Set up criterias for each era of the game. I see this as more of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame type thing instead of an Oscars type award. There is no reason we can't have each though. I am in the same boat as crazyfists as I want to see everyone who deserves it eventually gets in.

I haven't really been paying attention to this thread, since it doesn't pertain to me (unless there's going to be most time off game, or most emotionally unstable, or most stupid, I'm not likely to win anything, and polls always ALWAYS turn into popularity contest) but I disagree with the most heroic and most villainous. Because there certainly are a lot of players on both sides who aren't living up to the canonical alignment of their chosen faction.

Why create an award I have no major competition for? I mean, there's Tammuz but she's just not quite as consistently drunk every God damn night.

Speaking as someone who has played but is unlikely to win anything pre or post reset anyways....
Set up the basis of a Hall of Fame by rewarding inductee status based on skilled players from pre-reset. Nominate with a solid reason why, have a set number of people second the motion, and induct.
Treat the awards as here and now, starting from post reset. The game dynamic thou the factions and rules are the same has changed, so allow that to shine thru. Then any award winners from this round and any others held before the launch of V2 gets promoted to the HOF when we switch versions, if they haven't already for their pre-reset accomplishments.
Thus everything is set for the continuance of V1, with provisions ready for when we switch over to V2.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A quick thought for award titles, rather than best hero or villian, could we use Supreme Commander (Autobot/Maximal) and Emperor of Destruction (Decepticon/Predicons)?

I like this thread and wish to point back to origami post, love where it has gone and all for the HMWscars ONCE a year, but for creative reasons as opposed to popularist posters buddy, booty lickus.
If we are going since inception i vote PrimeReissue for the award of "being the butt of almosty every joke for a very long time", and Rice-Ci for "never actually cheating(at the time), just exploiting a very flawed game, whilst not playing in keeping within the spirit of fair play." Warhammerererer for the "black nail varnish, i love eddie izzard, i drink a lot but i never actually get as drunk as you so i am more socially acceptable than you" award. And Maximus Prime for the "best moderator for the HMW boards who held it together barely in times of crisis!" award for moderators. One last one. Burn for the highly prestigious..."Ego the size of Burns, Burn sized Ego that is far larger than any other ego, except Burns ego, self conhfidence in the field of ego!" award!

Not sure where that last one would go? Maybe Conjourous?
Whats past is past, but whats remembered over the past 12 months is more relevant perhaps?

If the HMW staff lets me know what you all decide I can set up a HMW "Hall of Heroes" in the new game to commemorate the warriors who have fought in this game.

I like this idea. It gives people like me who try to stay active on the boards (but aren't nearly as active as others) and who put effort into playing the game and supporting it a chance to be recognized. Doesn't necessarily mean that our chances are all that great, but it's better than being overlooked completely.
Still, those who have put a lot into this game to make it what it is today deserve to be recognized in some way. This seems like an appropriate way to at least honor them and let newer players know who came before and what they did to make HMW fun.

Anyways, I am working on something I think will please both the "Hall of Fame" supporters and the "InepticonobotoricecierASatammuzuburnicon Award" Supporters. I will post it when I am finished which probably won't be till around Monday sometimes as I have to go play army for the rest of the week.

But you like the other ones too.

I think you forgot the categories that draw out originality in bios. Most of the ones you selected (aside from Best Bio and Best Named), were game-performance-based ones, not character- or team-based ones. The game-performance-based ones could be based on luck, but the character-based ones are based on the person themselves.
As a staunch supporter of originality in bios, I think the comedy (and other genred) categories are necessary to the community. Shows a different side. I think stuff like Best Drawn, Most Inspired/Inspiring, Funniest, Most Sinister, Most Original would be great. It draws out people's more creative sides if they're going for a goal like one of these awards. Inclusion of a Funniest or Most _____ is a good way to lessen the bio-less or clichéd teams. (Especially the clichéd. I mean... how many most heroic, most feared, or sneakiest characters can we have? How many characters secretly would do anything for their teammates? How many mottos have to say "If you're in my way..." fill in the rest? Categories like Most Original or Funniest or Best Debut, etc. would get people's creativity flowing.)
I think the awards are a nice touch. How about Best Themed Team, Most Original Team, Best Named Team, Coolest Motto, and Most Contributing Member? Or am I too late to nominate categories?
And how about naming the awards "the Wheelies"?

And where is Tammuz anyway?

In a Galaxy Far Far Awry issue 1: Serial Fiction Sideshow now for sale.
Issue 2: Home Sweet Home Invasion also for sale.
Back issue 3: Technophobia coming soon. And you can help!
