So what you're saying is that it's a way to gauge our setups in the new system while earning (or losing) energon in the process?
Sort of an expensive version of Burn's Battle Simulation idea.
Would you miss the arena?

So there's the Arena which will be energon only, and the pit which you can gamble xp and energon?

yep. Ahh I get you now.
Well I'll miss the arena as it is, but as I said earlier, we still have the alternate xp source, and that is all I have asked for.

Why xp? And how can the winner take it? I don't get that. I can understand a few braincells getting damaged but I don't see why the opponent should pick up the xp.
And seeing as this is more of a "pick and choose arena" rather than a "challenge arena", how are you going to prevent abuse?
What abuse?
Well it's simple. One person may opt to not play, configure their bot to be poopy and then the other person who's been told about it comes along and picks that bot up, beats them down easily and voila, instant xp transfer.
I'll be blunt, the "pick and choose" system stinks and is going to promote favouritism.

Could you please point me in the direction of where I actually attacked you? You obviously seems to be suffering from the same problem as Silver Wind where you seem to be seeing me singeling you both out for attack.
Do yourself a favour and go back and re-read my posts and you'll find that at no point did I single anyone out. If you want to take offense to a post that was not aimed any individual person then that's your problem not mine. I'm not going to apologise for someone being over-sensitive.
It's also quite funny how you continue this "attack" on me yet you completely ignore the comment from someone else where they straight out said YOU Redimus were unreasonable. Yeah, funny that.

C'mon Burn. You know this place would never be right unless somebody was attacking you for no good reason.

This pit idea sounds awesome! I know what burn means when he says it may be open for abuse, but if and when it occurs we (or OS) can try and combat it.
I just think it sounds like a great way to get new rivals and interact as never before....
I hope the pit isnt too good, or i may end up spending too much time in there

Why wait until it happens? Why not ensure it can't happen before it's even put in place?
I just find the whole thing pretty insulting as myself and a number of other people spent months fleshing out the idea and this is nothing like it.
Makes me wonder if we are being listened to because I seem to see a lot of things "coming soon" that contradict the ideas a lot of people (no, not just myself, unbunch the panties children) have put forward.

With that logic we shouldn't launch anything new. All new pieces of a game might have holes in it so let's just forget all of it.Burn wrote:Why wait until it happens? Why not ensure it can't happen before it's even put in place?
Point taken. I've taken many liberties with the idea (considering the general concensus is in favor of it, for the most part). I'll call it something different.Burn wrote:I just find the whole thing pretty insulting as myself and a number of other people spent months fleshing out the idea and this is nothing like it.
If by this, you mean that everyone isn't getting everything they want, then you are correct.Burn wrote:Makes me wonder if we are being listened to because I seem to see a lot of things "coming soon" that contradict the ideas a lot of people (no, not just myself, unbunch the panties children) have put forward.
Quite frankly, to claim I don't listen to anyone is a slap in the face considering what I've done to try to get all of you involved in this process.
I will tell you this honestly..You are not going to force my hand on an issue trying to form a mob by starting threads in the public forums everytime you see something in the planning forum you don't agree with.
That may not have been your intention with this thread but it is hard not to percieve it that way.

So instead of eliminating the arena and making the focus of the game on the missions, you add a third option for the characters and draw even more people away from missions? A third option that has huge potential for abuse.
This is not a good idea.

I think you missed my point.
I just pointed out a obvious exploitable flaw and all you can say to that is "well with that logic we may as well not launch anything".
If a hole can be pointed out BEFORE implementation shouldn't that hole be plugged?
Were you here when this game first started? (Honest question because I can't remember). The game had plenty of exploitable flaws then and when they were fixed there were cries for reset to "even things up". You'll have to forgive me if i'd rather see potential exploits removed BEFORE people have a chance to use them. Six months down the track after losing over a 100 million in xp I wouldn't want to see 6 months worth erased again all because a bunch of wankers decided to use exploitable holes that could have been plugged in the first place.

It's not a case of calling it something different. This was a core thing that a number of people worked on, a feature that had been bandied around for nearly 2 years, a feature that nearly the majority of forum goers wanted and it's been cast aside for your design, which leads me to say ...Burn wrote:Makes me wonder if we are being listened to because I seem to see a lot of things "coming soon" that contradict the ideas a lot of people (no, not just myself, unbunch the panties children) have put forward.OS wrote:Quite frankly, to claim I don't listen to anyone is a slap in the face considering what I've done to try to get all of you involved in this process.

Perceive it how you want. I honestly couldn't give a **** what you or anyone else thinks about my intentions and my character.
And like I requested earlier, lock this thread, i'd much rather continue this in private OS without involving others and having the "Burn Haters" and "Burn Lackeys" joining in to prolong this.

I'm neither Hater, nor Lackey.
The Pitt seems cool, as long as it's an anesthetic feature purely for the enjoyment of choosing who you'll face. Nothing more, nothing less. No XP gained, no Energon gained. Just friendly challenges.
Frankly, I don't see why we even need to rid ourselves of the Arena. It serves it's purpose. Forcing people out of it by eliminating it won't do anything but make regulars angry. The arena is a simple, click and done page. The missions page is some what more for the non-casual player that is interested in whom they'll be battling and whom their be teaming with.
There's my two energon chips about it.
Word.

I'm keeping it open for now as there's still the potential for a little bit of discussion, however I'll be keeping my fingers on the padlock button just in case.
By the way, I won't miss the arena but I know that a bunch of people would. I realize that there are a lot of players who stay there for the most part, and thats their choice to do so. The way I see it, people have the right to play the game how they see fit. Calling them cowards or saying that they abandon their allegiance is all well and good, but in the long run what does it achieve? Nothing in the long run. Some people my take the suggestion and try out missions for a bit, but eventually they'll revert to type and stay where they're more comfortable.
From the sounds of it, there will hopefully be more incentives to play missions and partake in the battle for Cybertron come the new version. Hopefully they will be enough to pull more traffic to the missions.

Mkall is right there is still some discusion going around here Burn; and just because OS adds a little of his own spin to things doesn't mean he doesn't listen to your ideas.
And OS he is right you know; that is a major explotation that needs to be taken care of before the new version is released.
