You missed the joke.Sorry. It didn't look like one from my POV.
It's understandable why. Burn and I are actually getting along for a change.
Seriously, we all should really be investing in some paper bags now. That Apocalypse is just around the bend.

2 weeks should be plenty of time to get settled into a new alt, 4 weeks is forever and 1 would be far too brief.

Four weeks is forever? BAH! Some people are never happy. This game has gone for nearly four years with very little forward movement and now you people can't even wait four weeks for fresh gif's!

I voted 4 weeks because it gives everyone enough time to "test setups" with all new alts and it gives them also enough time to figure out "do I want this alt forever yes or no"

i go 4 becuase rare alts should be rare alts, having a non-resetable is annoying but is also carries with it a certain something, sort of a declaration that the owner doesn't need to reset their bots..
what's the point of having rare alts at all if they just are weekly on/off, might aswell jsut have access to all of them all the time.

*shrug* I have a short attention span, and as all the alts are in pre-set classes that we already know, its all aestetics anyway.

Voted for 2 weeks.
A few more questions:
1) How the alts are classified? I know there's Core, Common and Rare ones... But why one alt is Core and the other is Common - it beats me. Can somebody shed some light on it?
2) Had any new alts (submitted in New Altmode Tread) been introduced into rotation? I'm sure that everybody'd like that...
3) There are people who've won their unique alts or something, and don't want to lose 'em. Can there be made a special class of alts - say, Unique - which is permanently attached to this or that player and is always available for him, regardless of rotator? Such Unique alts would make great prizes for Alt hunts and such.
(I can propose a great deal more about such Uniques, but first one has to make sure it's possible at all).

Common ones tend to be based on cannon alts and their faction. For examply the Convoy alt is common for the Autobots.
Rare ones however either are common for one faction (for example, the purple Mazda RX-8 which is Alt Shockwave is common for 'Cons but is currently rotated in as rare for the 'Bots) or are super special fan made ones (like the CATalyst alt)
2) Had any new alts (submitted in New Altmode Tread) been introduced into rotation? I'm sure that everybody'd like that...
There were a bunch of fan made alts that Glyph plucked out of that thread and entered into the database. Mkall might be able to help out here. 150 or so?

That was implemented when the rotater first went live. OS still has bugs to work out for it though but it is most certaintly a feature already.

I'd like to point out that players should only need time to test set ups if they've switched alt-classes, which is probably not going to be the case most of the time.
In fact, this gives me a crazy idea inspired by Blitzwing and Nightbeat in the new IDW comics.
What if players could change which particular alt they want for their bot under the Edit Menu? Basically, on the upgrade page they would choose their Alt-Class (e.g. Tank) and distribute their tactics. Then under the Edit Menu they could choose which of the available tank alts they want (e.g. Scorpion Tank) and fiddle with the color etc.

I'll go ahead and answer these questions to help out in the voting. (Eventhough Burn did a pretty good job at answering them already).
What I originally saw when I started writing the rotator was that the decepticons had a TON of core alts and very few commons. The Autobots were the opposite. What I did was swap some cores and commons for both factions to give each side 40 cores. Burn is right about the cores being more of the canon alts as that is what I tried to do. There was NO changing of rare alts at all.
As I posted in the other thread, if you need to reset a character with a prize alt, just pm me the character and the alt and I will reset it for you. I will need to add the "prize alt" functionality as a seperate piece.
Hope that answered everything.

Considering there never really was a "rotation" you will see plenty of new alts as the rotations begin. But in answer to your question, I personally didn't make any new alts.Elcor wrote:2) Had any new alts (submitted in New Altmode Tread) been introduced into rotation? Prize alts should be handled seperately from the alts in rotation but because mixing them up together was part of the problem with the old rotator code.Elcor wrote:3) There are people who've won their unique alts or something, and don't want to lose 'em. I'm doing a little of it.
And I'm slightly distressed, b/c when it was tied up between 1 and 2 I could have been happy either way. Monthly just seems so long, especially when there's only 2 months left!

I think 3 weeks would be enough time to properly test out an alt and get it set the way you want, and it's long enough so that you're counting down the days to the next rotation.

Eh, I say weekly. I don't want the rotations to take months at a time. >.>;

I voted for 2 weeks, that way growing bots get a good selection of alts when they reset and they don't have to hold on to a common one that doesn't pop up next month.
However, when the new system starts and if it allows you to reset without losing your alt, then 4 weeks would be perfect.

Resetting will be similar in the new system. In the Transformers universe, when bots go back to a protoform they have to get new alts.Palamon wrote:I voted for 2 weeks, that way growing bots get a good selection of alts when they reset and they don't have to hold on to a common one that doesn't pop up next month.
