Alternator Bike...?

Post all your customized Transformers here. Whether it's a small mod or a true kitbash, we'd love to see it!

Postby Captain Crooks » Sun Oct 22, 2006 12:11 pm

Well folks, I started work on my Motorbike transformer tonight, and have some news - it's a girl!

Heh, after looking at the parts and how they can feasibly connect, I've decided to go with the front fairing folding backwards over the fuel tank to make a nice, prominent bust, and her long, long legs unfold from under the main fairing, incorporating some of the shell - and believe me, fitting all that in there is a cringeworthy task, heh. I havent got any pics yet, as she is basically just a pile of bits right now, but i'm working on developing one leg fully, to see if it works, and the torso is only a few tweaks short of done, so you may get to see a standing pic soon....

In the meantime, if anyone has a good design for a female bot-head they want to donate to the project, i would very much appreciate it - i'm good at making designs into a reality, but not that crash hot at designing them in the first place......

The lass is a gloss black decepticon, i havent worked out secondary colours yet, but im thinking purples, greys and maybe something more striking for contrast, like reds, oranges etc.

As always, i look forward to your input guys! Thanks to RavageX-9 for those pics - I love the colour selection, I see that femme-bot bikes are in the vogue - and why not, they look SOOOOO GOOD! ('Teen Girl Squad' moment, heh)

^^^ Heh, you're lucky this isn't a comprehension test young jimsloth - you'd have lost a mark for missing the part in the first post where I said i already bought the 1:18 scale Honda CBR1100XX....

I've been working on it the last couple of nights - i reckon i know where just about all the parts are going to go, and have nearly finished the prototype leg.....and it's a long one!! I was worried she wouldnt stand up to the ALT'S very well, but she will nearly match them in height!!!

And dont worry, she wont be all skinny and yuk - I've got a pretty womanly body worked out for her, including the obligatory stilletto heels....heh.

Still have no real idea for a face though....anyone?! :D

Well, it doesn't really scream fembot, but what if you do something shockwave-esque. Model the head to resemble the front end with a single headlight eye. Actually an alt mirage head might work if you carve in the jawline and its not too big?

^^^Hmmm, interesting idea Retread - i might save it for one of the 'male' bots i'm likely to end up doing. An ALT head would still probably be too big though, i'm almost certainly going to have to make it myself....

The head is going to pop out from the cavity in the front end fairing, and provided it fits the dimensions of that space, it can look like pretty much anything!

LOL, that or prime has gotten so tubby, the other bots have had to slim down. :P

The headlight on the bike Crooks has chosen is a little sleeker too. Was half thinking it could be a pseudo headlight (like the roof chest on tracks).

Maybe Nightbeat took his 'Detective' persona too seriously - since 1985 his diet has consisted of nothing but cigarettes and scotch-on-the-rocks.... He's wasted away....

Okay, progress report! No pics at this stage, due to the digital camera being overseas, but I am happy to report that this project is coming along really well! The actual bot mode is about 60% complete, with only the lower legs and feet, and the arms and head left to do.....! I also need to figure out where the rear wheels are going to go, but other than that, this project has been quite smooth, and i'm really happy with the results so far!

Pics will hopefully be posted by the end of this weekend, so stay tuned!!

Okay, I finally have some pics for this project!

Here is the bike in ALT mode so far, which comprises of the legs and torso:

Image

Unfolded, this is how tall she is compared to good ol' G1 Jazz (he likes helping out with these things, it seems...).

Image

Standing with no feet is kinda tricky, but here she is chilling out on the masking tape. All she needs is a drink, arms and maybe a head, and she'll be dong great!

Image

Here is what the leg looks like all folded up:

Image

And here are some details of the knee joint:

Image

Finally, here is the hinge joint that allows the seat to pivot around and close over the back of the bot like a 'backpack' - this is where her weapon will be kept (it incorporates the twin exhaust mufflers, and will be featured as soon as i make it, heh...)

Image

Basically, the legs tuck under the fuel tank, the nose fairing flips back over the top of the fuel tank, forming her 'bust'.

So yeah, i'll post more pics when i finish the feet and arms....still not sure what look to go for the head though....

^^^ Heh, no bionicle parts here my friend - all the technical stuff is either from Gundam kits or scratch-built....

I havent decided exactly what to do with the back wheel yet - but rest assured, i'll come up with something! At this stage, it will probably attach to the rear or bottom of the hip assembly, then fold either straight back, or split and go up with the back-pack thing. We'll see!

Impressive result sofar, I'd say.
How about calling her Black Widow (reference to Black Arachnia's TM2 bike mode) or Nightshade? ;)

Reminds me again of a yee ol' sketch..
Will upload it in a few.

I'm assuming you did the paint and decal work too - it's very clean, i'm impressed!

How many more?! :D

Sorry for not replying eariler; I had no idea that my post was responded to! Anyways, thanks for the props on my work! I am really pleased with how these guys turned out. Yes, I did all of the paint and decal work, so your assumption was correct :)

I also have plans for the RiD Sideways mold (the yellow cycle posted) as well as Energon Arcee and Cybertron Lugnutz (and I just found Cybertron Hightail today!).

With these guys, I think the aim is pretty obvious: I'm making my own bike gang. For those of you who follow my work, you'll notice that I tend to theme my work (Police Alts, Seekers, Stunticons, Bike gangs, etc.). One of the strengths of G1 in my mind was the subgroups or "gangs" if you will. In MtMtE, I just thought it was really cool that the Seekers seemed like a tough-as-nails gang. I wanted to take that concept and run with it. So far, I'm still having fun with it (when I get to work on customs)!

jimsloth wrote:wow superquad, four of the same repaint, you should have entered him in the botcon art contest, you could have stolen first place LOL!

Well, actually there are only 3 Alt cycle customs! Maybe one day I'll be able to enter the contest, or at least go to the convention again . . .

Again, thanks for the compliments guys and sorry for my late reply! There is also some rockin' custom bike work goin on in this thread! Keep it up man!

damn. really makes me want to do mine now, but I still haven't finished working out even a single (of the three) designs completely. I also don't know what scale I would want it in. I would prefer to make it a basic so it's better in scale with the cars (not that it would be anyways) but a deluxe would give me more freedom with fitting in joints.

Heh, it took me a little while to find all my threads - i've been a bit busy to do much work on my models lately, but i thought i'd mention that my bike-chick now has FEET..... well, I thought it was exciting anyway!

I'm considering splitting the back wheel in half, and having each half attached to the back of the stilletto feet of the bot - think oversized 'spurs' or something. It doesnt sound too bad to me in theory, and it will lend some balance to the figure while standing. Any thoughts...?

balance, I guess. it'll be hard to pose with one leg forward though. ;>
hrm... the sound of "wheels on heel spurs" sounds pretty goofy. but I've seen bikerbot chicks with wheel feet that look alright. they just had braces that formed their feet that wrapped around the front and back of the wheel. and... of course, I can't find it in my files. :S

I'm actually trying to think of a way to put the wheels on the legs of one of mine for a semi-third mode, but I'm trying to avoid splitting any of the wheels. I'm probably going to use a similar scheme on 2/3 of them, so that the back and front wheel both end up attached to the same place on either half of the bottom shell. on the ninja, they're going to be wing turbines, and maybe I'll store throwing stars in them. >_<;

actually, I'm just starting to rethink giving my running speed-freak big megaman boots, because those make it hard to run... (realistically, at least) maybe I should switch the thigh and calf parts...

And god help her if she ever needs to squat....

The other option is to attach the wheels to her butt somehow.......and that just opens up a whole catalogue of other problems!!!

I've just realised though - putting the wheels on her heels makes the current transformation method pretty much impossible without removing the legs - and removing parts is NOT an option!!!!

Sooooo.....i have some more thinking to do!!!

Sweeeeeeeeet........ninja stars = 8) !!!

I'd love to see more of your stuff, RavageX-9 - it sounds like you have some awesome ideas there!
