I seemed to be running fine. There were some small hiccups but it was running fairly smooth when the areana is down.

Is this not simply becuase ryan has just uploaded a whole laod of galleries and dosnt want the extra traffic of all those galleries being looked at + hmw to crash the site?

I'd like to make it very clear that from my point of view (and that of most of the members I talk to) HMW is far more important to this website than his stupid galleries, and from a logical point of view, the game *surly* generates a hell of a lot more pageviews than the galleries that, once the innitial rush to look at em has died down, dont really do anything and can only gain a small trickle of hits.

Agreed, the galleries are an important part of the site; and in a way its a great archive of the last 20+ years of transformers.

HOWEVER, in the last six months the HMW game (and to an extent its community) have basically been treated a bit like the red-headed stepchild of the site. I know many of our regulars have jumped ship, and I myself am teetering on the edge. Let's just hope adding the addition RAM to the server will do the trick.

While in our eyes HMW may be more important, other aspects, such as the galleries, may be more important in Seibs eyes. Seibs even admitted himself that he is not a gamer. He knows that HMW draws people to this site. He just has other priorities as of late. If he didn't care about us HMWers, the game would have been pulled a long time ago. He has been doing everything he can to make HMW work with his current setup. Seibs still care about us. Ripping him for his "stupid galleries" over fixing HMW is a bit out of line. IT is after all his website.

The galleries are very important. You forget that Seibertron is not only a fan site, but a collector's site to boot. No other website gives the indepth galleries and views of a potential purchase you care to make, letting you know exactly what you'd be getting, and what to look for.

I love HMW, but priorities are priorties, and Ryan has to do what he thinks is best for the website. PLUS he just added 2 gb of RAM to help the cause. So your complaints are being heard, just give him time.

If not for him we wouldn't have HMW at all.

I've actually been surprised at how much I look at the galleries, even the old ones.

Like I said in the other topic I just locked, this thread has gotten pretty far off-topic (simply announcing the Arena was going on hiatus), and is not necessarily pertinent now that we know the server is getting upgraded.

As I said in the other thread though:

If someone wants to start a thread specifically about generating ideas to streamline HMW, then that would be fine. It would be nice to have the suggestions/ideas in a form that doesn't involve sifting through two different threads which each have the coherency of Bipolar Goldfish debating with Spastic Monkeys.

Sorry guys, but the galleries are FAR more important to Seibertron.com and to the overall Transformers community than HMW will ever be. The galleries, the forums, and the news all rival HMW for traffic. HMW is just a fun game for you guys to play. The rest of the website is what interests the majority of the fandom. Only a very small percentage of the people that visit Seibertron.com play HMW.

HMW isn't in the list because it was down so much last month and the events section was quite popular because of Toy Fair. Hopefully one month from now, we'll see HMW back in the top 10.

HMW being down for the past month has absolutely NOTHING to do with the return of the galleries. HMW causes the website to run extremely slow because the website has once again surpassed the server's capabilities. Because of the scripts that run every minute to process the battles for HMW, it is an extreme resource hog. HMW is the first thing to go because of this so that the sections of the website that the general public sees and the majority of people visit will still work. I hope that my invest of $45 per month into HMW to get us an extra 2GB of RAM (for a total of 4GB) this past Wednesday will resolve this problem once and for all.
