Now I know I've upset the gods of RNG, the fact that the last 6 moves of the battle were a weakened and all but defeated 'con all of a sudden whooping my arse

it’s that stun-lock that was mentioned earlier. no rngenie involved, just your bot getting rammed and stunned by an enemy with superior strength. the only thing you can do to counteract that is allocate stat points to strength. you’d need to have equal or higher strength than an opponent who rams you in order to negate being stunned for multiple turns by a ramming attack. i think it’s ram = 2 turn stun so long as there’s not another ram during those 2 stunned turns.

It could be argued that RNG is the reason ram went off in the first place, let alone often enough to cause the stun lock. This just tends to happen sometimes, just like when ram just doesn't go off at all during a fight. Luck of the rolls
Not arguing that ram is powerful, but rng has a lot to do with it going off at all

Not faulting you for bringing up the game mechanics of the Ram tactic, I just think it's easier (and funnier) to blame it on the fictional deities of a mechanic we've got no control over.
And yes, it's comments like this that make the Gods of RNG not happy with me

I'm gonna lose lots of energon trying their gain favour again aren't I?

Possibly...but once the favor is gained, the rewards are plentiful. And so their words of eternal wisdom are echoed on this realm of HMW: go big or go home! kek!

On a more upfront response, you likely will regardless

My energon strategy: CR is free if you don't have enough energon, so buy expensive (not rare) weapons to protect the energon, at a 10% loss when you sell. Kind of like a financial mini-game within the game.

Hoarding weapons for selling later ... you're losing energon, I really can't see how that makes sense when you can just switch your CR chamber to manual and save energon that way.

When I read his strategy, it seemed more like he was proposing a "savings" so to speak. By the weapon not being rare, it wouldn't be a detriment to the game to hold on to it. You'd purchase the weapon at a time where you don't necessarily need the energon. Then, if you end up running low or completely out, turning off auto-CR and selling the weapon essentially takes energon from a time where you don't need it and gives it back to you at a time that you do need it.
With regard to losing energon, the money gained could pay for the armor upgrades or a more useful weapon at a time where energon is scarce. That way, while selling the weapon won't do anything for the fact that you're losing energon, it'll give you a way around the fact that you have none

Yes, turning off auto CR would save too, I need to try and analyze gains and losses with it off.
Wingz wrote: if you end up running low or completely out,
Yeah, more of a protection strategy, I noticed after a good round of missions I would be up in energon, but then a bad round and all the gain was gone, so a 10% loss is better than all (it is actually more because 10% each time you trade).
This is all the extra I have right now, except I did use the Energon Crossbow but reset the character, planning on using it when it the character has more upgrades.
Also around here hoarding weapons is an accepted financial strategy.

Edit: It turns out CR is free if you don't have enough energon ONLY if you use auto CR.
Else it gives you the same error as if you tried to buy a weapon that is too expensive.

But you're not saving. You lose energon when you resell it. You're investing in an asset that depreciates as soon as it's purchased.

As the guy who has to restock weapons when they run out in the shop, no. No it's not accepted. This is the sort of thing I've been concerned about. People buying weapons just to sit on them for who know how long, and others can't get them until I restock them, next thing the hoarder dumps their stash. Other players miss out and I have to restock weapons when there's already plenty in the game but people are hoarding them.
I can't stop people doing it, but restocking aside, it's a terrible financial strategy for the simple reason of depreciation.

Oops, when I said "around here" I didn't mean in the game.
We definitely need to leave weapons in stock for others (in the game).

I understand the depreciation in value of a resold weapon. My point was something different, though it doesn't really matter for the sake of your argument.
If it makes you feel better, here is my list of unused (or "hoarded") weapons (so you know I'm not actually holding on to a lot of things):

I reformat a lot lately and have been experimenting with strafe builds off and on. The weapons above are alternate weapons I've had for a while and use off and on. The option is open to sell them, however, if I run too low on energon and need some for armor.
Also, it's already Monday for you? XD ewww...

GMT +10, and my Sunday was that busy I didn't get onto the forums last night until about 9pm.
Sadly, I'd missed nothing. Conversation is waning.
