I've never been to one... If you are not staying at the hotel is there a special way to register, sign-up or whatever? I'm just planning on driving down there and I don't want to be stopped at the door because I didn't do a step... Thanks for the info!

You've never been in a car driven by a Detroiter obviously.

Ohio, can I get a "Hells yeah!" for Botcon coming back?
It's definitely changed since I first met you at a BotCon a while back. Would love to be able to meet up with you once again for the sake of old times. I believe you and your buddy were the first people I had ever met at a Botcon. Lots o' fun!

Botcon has been going on since 1994.I have been a fan since 1984 they never have a Botcon anywheres near me and I don't have a job that pays farelly well like others on this board so its kind of hard for me to travel.

My max happy drive limit is about 9-10 hours....
Train, plane or automobile, hmm.
I guess I am spending my B-day, 4/23 in a car.

Hells yes, it was fun. I even remember handing out flyers about this website--hardcore old school, boyeee! Remember that grim Red Roof Inn in North Carolina? :p
I haven't heard back from my friend yet...I'm hoping we'll be able to make it. He's got a kid now, though, and I'll have been married for all of two weeks...and our respective women are already gleefully calling us nerds...

Cincy is pretty big. But logical in it's street layout. There are plenty of hotels in that area as well. And this Convention center if freaking giant!

That's only like an 8 hour drive. Maybe 10 at most if you stop a lot. I can get from Toledo Ohio to West Virginia in 4 hours non stop. Hell dude just take a boat across the lake into Sandusky harbor. Then just hit 75 south.
Yea, but I haven't had my passport updated for quite a while. Along with me being a little short on cash, so it seems I'm going to have to wave as this one goes by. At least theres still Transformercon to look forward to about two months after Botcon.
dude, you live like 20 minutes from me. If I can make it so can you, 1337, and everyone else from the habs thread!
BTW, how many kilometers is that? Pfft, what do I care, I'll fly

Why not? It's less than a seven hour drive from Buffalo. I already have my trip planned out. Leave Saturday morning at about 3am. Get there a little after general admission starts. Stay for about three or four hours, then drive home, unless we decide to stay at a hotel and drive home Sunday morning.

Now however I'd say its a solid MAYBE. Its only a 4.5hr drive due north for me. The issue is having enough money for SDCC and BotCon. Do they offer non-toy exclusive all weekend reservations. I've never looked in the past. By not buying the $300 Primus package that comes with toys I'd save money. Do they have a weekend pre-reg pack for say $100 or so? I could sacrifice not having the exclusives and getting them just to resell is a hassle.
I've been to every BotCon but one since 1999 be a shame to add another to the list with it being close enough.
If your a teenager and can't come don't worry one day you can. If you live anywhere within a days drive and don't have high school, death in the family or a newborn child you have no reason to not be there.
It has been in California, 2003 Pasadena, for all those crying it hasn't been. It has been in NY, just not since 1996. I understand that convention hall prices in NY and LA are so high it makes having it there even more cost prohibitive.
It has been in the South. Durham, NC(2001) and Lexington KY(2006) and I can't wait for Nashville, TN to make the cut. The city is planning a new convention center for 2010 so maybe soon it'll catch Brians eye, not that our current center couldn't accomodate the event!

Crap.
I'm looking at around 2 1/2 hours to get to this one... I'll be in school already, but I may just have to take a drive down for a day or two and finally see about some of the excitement in person!
And I think I'm a little excited to meet some of the big wigs around here, too....
