Well I was always under the impression that Takara designed the BWs toys, and after Hasbro bought out Kenner they handed the brand to them. I figured, like all the previous iterations of Transformers, Takara designed the toys and, Hasbro/Kenner re-branded them for sale in the west. Meaning They named the characters, wrote the bios, and designed the packaging. But according to our good buddy Willy James, Kenner designed the toys. (Will, can you shot us link to the interview where you read this, when you have a chance? )

I'm guessing than that Kenner designed the toys, and Takara did all the tooling and engineering, as it's been done for 30 years now. This also would dispel my suspicion that Beast Wars (in Japan) evolved from Battle Beasts. Another re-licensed Takara toy line.
All the Beast Wars toys have the name Kenner on the packaging, but as all corporate take overs go, Kenner was absorbed into Hasbro, Star Wars was pried from there grieving hands, and the name Kenner was swept under the rug.

Sure, but they usually need a little help in the form of me trying to pull somebody out who is buried in the back, or the whole shelf gets bumped or nudged. And you can bet, since I have them packed so tight in there, that it inevitably starts a domino rally.

I forgot about that whole Hasbro takeover of Kenner. Still have the product catalog that came with Optimal Optimus and it's all Kenner stuff that Hasbro produces now

I mentioned before in one of the threads that I have him pre-ordered, but the more I look at Optimal Optimus the less I want Optimus Primal. Does that make sense?

Oh Takara does all the engineering. I think the only thing Hasbro ever engineered was Energon Grimlock, but even then I am not sure.
