I think he looks awesome and can't wait to get him. Peoples expectations are sometimes too out of wack. He was never gonna be toy or show accurate, which I feel gives him the freedom to be what ever he will be. and that's all I ask off him.
Y'know... I've been thinking about MP's I don't like or wasn't excited for, and the list is surprisingly short. Here's my MP pit-falls:Cobotron wrote:OH GOOD! I'm relieved. You nailed it. Also I think lots of people switched to auto-hate simply because he wasn't designed by the dude who made the Datsun's and such.Cobotron wrote:Peoples expectations are sometimes too out of wack.
Boom, that's it. There is an awful lot of that in our hobby. And on the reverse side of that coin, and just as bad - auto-like.shajaki wrote:Also I think lots of people switched to auto-hate...
Good answer. IF my theory holds, Skywarp may be easy to obtain. Acid Storm on the other hand will be a pricey Ebay hunt. I think with MPs you shouldn't stress to bad about acquiring them. I think they will be around for a long time and you will have plenty of opportunities to catch up.Decepticon Sunstorm wrote:Probably Skywarp, as I always liked his color scheme.
Though Acid Storm is quite tempting as well.
It's funny, because I always wish this specifically for you. Like a car dealership. If you could walk into your local Transformers dealership and test drive a bot before you buy it. That would be great.william-james88 wrote:Gotta admit, while I dont care for the characters nor for the resulting bot modes, the engineering on both Hot Rod and Ironhide looks INSANE! I would love it if we could test drive these TFs and give them a transforming spin.
Thanks G! I remember seeing that shelf over a year ago in your thread. Aside from the awesome bots on it, I really like the shelf itself.Genocide G2.0 wrote:Hey C-Dowwg! been meaning to crongrats you on your new "Master Rack"![]()
You know what? I too was really disapointed in Ravage, or at least very underwhelmed. They did such a great job with Rumble and just taking the G1 toy and making it worlds better. There is something off about Ravage's proportions. I wish they had stayed with the old toys design a little harder.shajaki wrote:Y'know... Hmmmmm? even I have felt a little remorse over this. (Tracks) But, it's not fare to short change new designers. They didn't get the job by designing piles of suck, that's for sure. I also think some folks just fly on auto-hate, and said hate is contagious.shajaki wrote:You nailed it. Did you once state that you have Shockwave on pre-order, or at least worked into your budget for the year?
Now if I don't reply right away, don't get your panties in a bunch.![]()
Just kidding sorry I skipped over your post.

I picked up Skywarp when he was on clearance at Walmart for $25 or $27. They had a few back then, just sitting there. I bought two and gave one away just because I didn't want a scalper getting it!Decepticon Sunstorm wrote:And I actually did find an old Hasbro Skywarp for $60 at a comics shop in Anaheim, but I didn't get him (which I'm kinda regretting).

Well, if my crystal ball sees clearly, maybe you will have the chance to buy a brand new MP-11 mold with an even better Skywarp deco for that very same price.Decepticon Sunstorm wrote:And I actually did find an old Hasbro Skywarp for $60 at a comics shop in Anaheim, but I didn't get him (which I'm kinda regretting).
$19.99 plus tax BABY! the Week after Xmas IIRC.itscramtastic wrote:I picked up Skywarp when he was on clearance at Walmart for $25 or $27. They had a few back then, just sitting there.

Thundercracker!?! At Big Lots!?! Zowy! That would have been an awesome find. Still kicking myself for not getting him.Decepticon Sunstorm wrote:My uncle did the same thing with a couple of MP Thundercrackers that he found at a Big Lots, except for the fact that they ended up getting returned for some reason.
Ya know it's funny. In Japan these guys are treated like pop stars, 'cause they are. They are responsible for designing Japanese pop culture icons. That's why the Takara guys are always rockin' cool shades, black blazers with jeans and cowboy boots, and rock star hair cuts.itscramtastic wrote:You know what's pretty funny?Cobotron wrote:Hmmmmm? even I have felt a little remorse over this. I don't even think of the people designing the figures. Weird, right? It's just Hasbro or Takara guys, they have the source material, they put it in 3D software and make it work. SORCERY!!
I guess what I'm saying is I'm not all "ooooh this guy didn't design this so it's not as cool as that guy who designed those ones over there."
Also, and I guess with me being an Optimist Prime, I'm more in the "auto-like" portion of the fandom. It doesn't mean I'm going to buy a figure, it just means that I understand that these people clearly took SOME time to come up with something that ended up working with the time/monetary constraints they were given. And if it looks like something I want in my personal preference collection, I'll buy it.

I feel like that was my point too (what I bolded and you bolded), but it may not have come across that wayconcur-o-tron wrote:Ya know it's funny. This got me wondereing why we don't treat the Hasbro designers the same. So I asked someone I know who has had creative dealings with Hasbro. His answer was, "Because Hasbro won't allow it". He stated that the creative climate at Hasbro is very cut throat, and that Hasbro even pits the designers against each other to compete to even keep their jobs. We all know who Aaron Archer is because he saved the franchise, and John Warden (lead on CW) has been in the spot light a lot lately, but can anyone name any other Hasbro designers.
My point is these guys are artists and experts at what they do, and I think they deserve a little more credit.
The whole reason I collect these things is because I view them as pieces of...Dig it Daddy-Ohe'srightontastic wrote:It's all art maaaaaaaaaaaan!!

So if you are feeling regret, why DID you unload all your MPs? Was it out of necessity or did you just need a change of direction/scenery?
