I agree completely. Even though the Tracks design was a blatant ripoof of the Firebird hood design, it was still different enough to sidestep a liscensing issue. And, it is flames.....not bird wings.

Exactly. These photos make the new deluxe figures look no better than legends. A closer review by someone who actually knows how to transform these will probably reveal a lot more detail.
That being said, I am a bit disappointed in Thunderwing. Is he going to get his drone/pretender?

We hardly ever see the smaller Pretenders outside their shells in the Marvel comics, so I wouldn't count on it.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Apparently he comes with a drone that looks exactly like his inner robot jet-mode from the original mode and even clicks into his jet-modes cockpit, but it has no robot-mode.

That is what they said at Botcon, and what I repeated a few posts in...

And the icon I put with the post was not meant to be the 'frustration' icon. Must be a programming error going on here.
No worries, I know not everybody is anal about reading all the posts. I am actually interested to read what everyone is saying upon laying their eyes on this product for the first time.

It's not about what he's meant to be, he's about how close it is to the real thing. Hasbro has avoided licensing issues by mixing and matching car models for the toys. For example, Universe Sunstreakers base model is the Lamborghini Gallardo, but it has features from other models, like the Murciélago and the Diablo for the back end.
I can see the current owner of General Motors easily suing Hasbro for, what they assume, using one of their old designs. Hasbro and court cases don't mix that well

I still don't believe it is the reason. I don't think that you make a bad point. Your Lambo example above is a very good example, and I definitely se and understand your point. However, I don't think this is the reason in this particular case.
