As for Gal Gadot, she should be fine.
Still not happy about Ben Affleck.
If they write Luthor as a smooth, fast talking asshole, then he's the perfect casting. Have you seen his work outside of Zombieland? He usually plays a fast talking asshole. (Especially in Now You See Me) and he's actually one in real life. Ripped an interviewer to shreds and even got a bit uppity with David Letterman. (Guy's a dick. Seriously.)
But, since Luthor is so much more than that, I'd think Bryan Cranston would be far better suited to the role.
I see DC doesn't even try to replicate Marvel. I know they're trying to break new ground, but this is just awful. Decision making at it's finest, gents! DC's so badass and Über kewl that they broke the mold and stuff. Okay, I'm full of crap. They suck and they have their heads planted firmly up their asses.
The Dark Knight trilogy was excellent. Should've left well enough alone. Green Lantern wasn't terrible, but you couldn't build a franchise off of it. No. The Flash? Eh. No. Aquaman? (I couldn't even keep a straight face while typing that.) Now, Arrow is proving you can make a good, solid show out of their properties. It seems DC works better on TV than on the big screen, whereas Marvel works great in theaters and not so good on TV. (Agents is a show I like, but it has SERIOUS problems.)
One should dominate TV, the other cinema. Leave it at that and make money and be happy, but oh no, they have to try and fail so hard. I did enjoy Man Of Steel. Like... A lot. I was disappointed when I found out the sequel would include Batman and all of this mess they're bringing to it. Argh. Sad. I really was hoping for a true Superman sequel, not this.
The only thing I didn't have a problem with? Casting Ben Affleck as Batman. I don't care what the critics thought of the film, but I thought Affleck was good as Daredevil. (I don't know the source material, and I don't care, but I liked him.) He'll definitely get the playboy part right. Batman and who he is, is the least of the concerns here.
Gah. DC, just pay attention to what Marvel's doing. Just replicate it, seriously. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Get to flatterin'.
