fenrir72 wrote:Now that oil costs around $80/barrel, maybe we'll see a resurgence of bigger, less hollow and cheaper TFs?
the only movie figure (of the 8+ variety) that said bottom line to me was leader prime and voyager galvatron. though galvy is one of the few AOE figures i dont own, so i cant really comment on it. everything else is pretty normal as far as movie toys go.TheMuffin wrote:Mostly it's Hasbro that disgusts me. The toy screams bottom line over quality. The movie line is in a similar situation. Instead of spending money to design an interesting transformation the line is filled with 3 steps and other simple designs.
$22 Marvel Legend and Star Wars figures are high on my WTF list as well.

Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

I forgot to mention in my last post, poor quality AND rising prices.
I feel you though. Let's prey to Primus that Combiner Wars will be something special.

That'd be nice. I'd just like to clarify that my OP was strictly concerning the quality of the components used and the cost cutting measures used in this figure. I absolutely love the actual design of Jetfire. I just hate the hollow bits, cheap looking chrome, thin plastic walls, missing paint apps and overall price tag for what you're getting. Amount of toy you're getting vs. cost of the toy you're getting seems waaaaayyyy too skewed lately.
Yuuuuummmmy......................me too.fenrir72 wrote:I pine for the days of TF Galaxyforce...............beefy, thick and heavy.

and the 1steps and stuff, thats for the wee ones.
Yeah, I was surprised when I got it. It's a fair representation of the character, even with the simpler transformation. I keep him in truck mode, and I really like the colors of the cab. Black, silver and gray. It just works.RhA wrote:Galvatron is kind of my favorite AOE guy so far. Simple, yes, but solid.
ugh... i know... and ive read rave things about him over and over again. im pretty sure ill have to bite. probably takaras though since they actually painted more of those amazingly sculpted details.RhA wrote:Galvatron is kind of my favorite AOE guy so far. Simple, yes, but solid.

I just wanted to clarify something, the cost of an oil barrel is in no way related to the cost of plastic since the oil used for fuel (which is the number you indicated) is not the oil used to make plastic. Plastic comes from another oil source which has different demand trends. So if ever an executive gives us that reason for the rising costs of plastic, they are fooling us.

transportation costs increased the costs of almost any labored job
You're not just paying for the cost of the plastic used in the toys you buy
All the residual labor must be paid for some how
On topic, after seeing him in the store, I'll just wait for the MP. Current trends tell me there will be one in some way or another. Even if it takes a couple years, whatever.

Yeah but that fan was referrig to the amount of plastic being used, as if the plastic itself cost more.

A week or three ago I had the movie badguys on display in my living room, from 2007 leader Megatron to Galvatron. Galvatron fits the baddies almost perfectly in terms of colorscheme. Granted that be could use some detailing, but overall he does not stand out in any negative manner.

Hi. Some of you may remember me as NOT a movie fan. Some times there is a movie toy I like because it's just a really fun toy. 2007 Leader Prime, Sea Spray, for example.
I pick Galvatron up often when I see him and debate in my mind. That robot mold is just sculpted really well, and the Alt mode is really sleek. Despite the fact that he is just kind of wearing the truck as a "hoodie".
Seeing good feed back on him makes me consider him more.
I know this is a Jetfire thread. Just thought I'd chime in.

Seaspray was just released into the wrong line.
Also- Buy Galvatron.

Yeah, Seaspray is not technically a movie toy. I consider him a similar reimagining of a character just like the Hotspot/Grapnel mold is.
