Other than Prime and Megs, I'm still not overly fond of most the first round of classics figs. I like most of the characters, but they're not the most exciting figs to transform. Most of the classics 2.0 are fantastic, though.

Anyhow, I checked eBay...looks like the going rate is about $30 to get a complete loose Prime shipped with the possibility of low $20s if you play the eBay game patiently. What sucks is shortly before the trailers were announced toyarena.com had Henkei Prime for $35 (then use the 10% off code!) so I was contemplating an order of that and RID Black Convoy (aka Scourge,) but then the trailers were announced and they jacked them up to $49.99.

yeah Henkei and classics prime shot up pretty quick in price..

I was thinking of finding a loose version myself.. but no luck in the price range I wanted..

that's okay, they will pop up in time.. but I put off buying ROTF for classics/Henkei purchases.. I decided that i can wait till a premium line up comes out and if one doesn't then oh well, i can always find the originals online.. and cheap..

broke down and just ordered one....was going to wait but that usually ends bad.

and Prime needs a trailer!

I failed to mention but for collectors like skywarp-2 who own the TFCON City Commander Diaclone doo-hickey. He is said to carry a toolbox of sorts for energon. Well it has some functionality with the Roller/Buggy module.

And just noticed in the box, the part where the word has "Salute the Legend", well you can tear it of and "display" the Convoy cab just as you would his G1 version.

Not a double post. Concerning the chrome weapons which I did not remove from the branches. We have
1. Aw-1 (Bumble B)
2. Aw-2 (Sideswipes shoulder missile)
3. Aw-3 (Mirage's shoulder mounted missile/hologram projector(?))
4. Aw-4 (Grimlock's energon sword, curiosly, the G1 box art had his chromed while te actual toy was red)
5. Aw-5 (Hound's tracking scope (Jeep mode only)

I am not sure though if they fit properly.

That's what the box is going to look like when you remove the part "Salute the Legend". (I didn't realize this pics already existed. Anyway the functionality of the energon toolbox is also shown so skywarp-2, well you'll just have to wait and see and try it out with your TfCon armor. Those pics don't even begin to show the feel of the product.

As for the wheels, same radials like City Commander, not all the spokes are holed.

yeah i knew that but that is okay... the wheels look close enough for me.. and the tool box is something I am most interested in now... interesting, if the tool box is held by roller, can roller be lifted in Prime's hand by the tool box handle as a bludgeon weapon??

Not if you have any respect for him! Poor little guy is still the bravest little Autobot there is! That'd be like having a briefcase full of money and handing it to a Cub Scout, then grabbing him by the ankles and bashing him into stuff. Just wrong!

All kidding aside, I'm waiting for mine to ship from BBTS and really that Roller is what put the G3 over the top for me. He's going to have the red cannon attached to him at all times. I'm not going to use the extra weapons (grrr chrome), mirrormode will be too prone to smudging and I have transformed Optimus in about a year so yeah I think I may have just bought it for that Roller!

I don't know if we are trying to save server space on topics or what so I am posting this here..

there is a very cool, and shall I say "canuck accented" (AbOuwt) review of the G3 trailer by Vangelus on youtube, and it is fantastic, once you get passed the funny little campy scenes..

though I kinda liked his Optimus and Hound follies.. it was chuckle filled...

after extensive review by Vangelus, I have concluded 2 things about the FP trailer..

1. It is awesome to the extreme!!! and sets the Bar for any Optimus Prime trailers to come.. the quality is top notch..

2. the only issue is the weather vein on classics prime, it does kinda make the trailer addition seem like it is not doing what it should in real life..plus the classics prime is so small compared to the trailer..which is how it was in G-1. However, after seeing the trailer, the powered commander add on, and all of it together, I think that it looks like that Prime has got tons of weight to pull, and makes his truck cab seem very small and weak comparatively..

I suppose this is the way Hasbro had envisioned the Henkei/Classics Prime..and since they had no consideration for making this figure come with a trailer, the Henkei/classics Optimus Prime reflects that..what kinda sucks is that if you look at the whole thing together and once you get passed the awesomeness of the Optimus Prime, G3 trailer, and Powered/DIA commander add on, you start to feel like the whole thing is out of whack, like the classics Optimus Prime should be larger, or a new weather vein for the semi truck should be added to make the figure look more like it is aerodynamic and a bit larger to handle the payload..

My final analysis:

The Fansproject G3 trailer is amazing! It is a great set, has tons of Options and the whole thing just screams perfection..I love it! Now the only problem I have with it is that Classics/Henkei Prime should have a new weather vein for his truck cab.. this could easily be done by a 3rd party.. a weather vein that slides over the existing one, and maybe when in bot mode becomes Classics Optimus Prime's Jet pack.. maybe the backpack could also be compatible with the FP Powered Commander Armor as well as simple classics/Henkei Prime..that would work and it seems like that one piece of extras is about the only thing missing from the entire 3rd party add ons..

in either case, I need to buy a proper Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime G-1 styled gun..

I would hate to suggest this... and I know it seems like blasphemy, but if you took the 3rd party mini Masterpiece Prime and used it for display with this trailer and powered commander armor, it would look a bit better considering the scale of the mini masterpiece Optimus Prime in truck mode..

But I would rather hope that a new 3rd party weather vein/jet pack is in the works some day..

Concerning the wind vane/canon/shield. You can hang it in "repair mode" but can't be stored once the trailer is folded, kinda gets in the way of the robot mech/artillery unit, though makes sense since it's a part of the truck cab........minut complaint only.......very minute. And for more authenticity the square space on the outside of the trailer near the cab area, you can apply an autobot symbol.

Concerning the wind vein...


I've seen semis very recently with wind veins that don't go up to the top of the trailer. I'm not a trucker by trade, so it's all speculation, but I have to assume they all have a wind vein now because it helps even if it doesn't align exactly.

Some wind resistance is better than LOTS of wind resistance eh?

this is true.. but you can't tell me that a quality Fans Project bonus surprise wind vein that becomes a jet pack with wings, similar to the THS-02 jet pack is a bad idea??

Vange1us is a great reviewer and thoroughly entertaining.

This kind of work on the G3 Trailer just makes me gawk in awe. The product is great but also the attention to detail in the packaging and presentation of the product is great and can be especially appreciated by the collectors out there. You can tell a lot of love was put into this design.

Got my trailer today. Love it-pure and simple. Totally worth the money and wait. So far, the only stickers I've applied are Reprolabels Autobot logos on the sides-the fact that they left the space open for one just shows the attention to detail.

I'll post a picture tomorrow but if you're looking for a perfect way to display yours in "God Bomber" mode, Target sells long, chunky, white shelves (I also believe in brown and black) that are exactly the right length. I couldn't have planned it better for my display.

@ Devastattor, don't you just hate them people at FP? And here we have a debate on the legality of 3rd party products. FP can just keep making this type of upgrades so long as the quality is = to the price.

And I second you, I just love this trailer.

I have the D.I.A. set and it's great and all but I would rather have no chrome on it or the TFCon version. The chrome just sticks out like a sore thumb, ruining the cohesiveness of an an otherwise plastic design scheme. Still a cool set, though.
