All they did was hack bits out of the back part and compress it all together. As well, if you notice, the black part her head is on the person also made able to lower/rise in bot mode. (Or just simply lowered.) Then there's the already mentioned clear headlights and... That's it. *Shrugs.*

Basically, it's there to activate a spring, and it moves so it doesn't get caught on the rest of the body, and cause problems for the gimmic.
