BigBadToyStore.com now has pre-orders for G1 Optimus Prime 1 Meter Speaker Tower with USB Head created bvy a company call "Most Wanted". The description says:

Optimus Prime Head with Built-In USB-Powered Speakers mounted on 1 Meter Body Statue.

Interesting but it's a product that answers a question few of us have asked. With all the great stuff being released this year, a year where lots of folks are cutting back, this kind of thing really doesn't have much of an audience IMO.

I can't believe it! I knew I should have marketed my idea from 2 years ago. This is smaller than what I had in mind by about half but then this unit doesn't allow for the lighted display shelves and the glass paneled chest pieces. I even already have a rotating display stand large enough to support the size and weight of a 2 meter tall version. I just couldn't gain access to a shop for the time it would have taken me to crank out a proto.
Oh well, as it stands now, I don't even have the room for this 1 meter version so it's just as well I didn't try to construct my version. I was having a hard time trying to figure out how/where to best integrate the CD/MP3 system anyway since I was still more into CD's back then. Glad someone figured it out.

Cool idea but how does it sound. If the speaker is good then i may pick it up. And it itll work with my PSP. And why the hell havent we seen thus before? For years ive been saying that there should be some thing like this but in a Soundwave mold and bigger. My originle idea was have either Blaster or Soundwave and replace the chest with TV. In blasters case the speakers would be in the legs and on Soundwave in the shoulders. Also SW would have the buttons removable so you could add a PS3 or Cable box. Oh yeah patent pending.

You can buy the head by itself, a lovely bust of Optimus Prime, complete with two USB-powered speakers in it, for $30 from robot kingdom. For that price, I imagine you get a couple of piezo buzzers in his ears and that's it.

The speakers do not look like anything resembling quality.

Now you're starting to see what I was planning a few years back. The chest panel for Prime would open (although you could look through the clear "windshields" when closed)but it was primarily to have 2 small adjustable shelves for diplaying figures but I was going to take the speakers out of my 2 Pioneer towers and have Primes legs be the new, narrower speaker boxes. I suppose the adjustable shelves could have been removed and a smaller TV set in place. Primes grill would have split down the middle to swing with the "windshields" since they would have helped support the weight of the glass. A TV would have worked fine in the chest/body area. Nice idea. Now that I conjure up the old designs in my head, Soundwave would actually be far easier to build for TV/Stereo/Game System configuration.
Had I mentioned before that I was/am a cabinet finisher/builder by trade?

This is almost cool.. LOL I really love how they molded prime in a
" Ahh Hell I Give Up " pose lol .. His guns held off to the side not ready to fire lol.. If you are going to make something like this , At least make it look cool.. And that price is so jacked up like everything made from these companies these days.. By the looks of it , it's made like those plastic lawn statues that people put out for christmas and such and they just slaped a few speakers in the head.. In these times no one is going to pay 500$ for i-pod speakers taht aint even ipod and just some generic knockoff..

Why wouldn't you just get a iPod Convoy dock? At least that comes with a trailer and can transform

Looking at those pictures again, does anyone else think that it looks like a blown up, less articulated version of the 3 inch Heroes of Cybertron mini-statues? It almost looks like somebody Photshopped a picture of one and added a coupple of paint apps. that would have otherwise been harder to do during production of the 3 in. version.
I could have built my own with greater detail and functionality for less money if I still had access to the necessary tools. Would have been a whole lot heavier is the only downside.
