Halo: Combat Evolved [PC]:
Cleared the game. Uploaded all the videos I took playing, which can be found here: http://www.xfire.com/profile/1337w42210 ... ?count=120 Sorry about the order. What a fantastic game. I had forgotten that the Forerunners and the other rings were mentioned in this one.

Uninstalled Halo 1, installed Halo 2.

Halo 2 [PC]:
Well if this ain't a cold slap to the groin. It seems to me like ol' Micrapsoft was trying to convert PC gamers to consoled00ds due to irritation and making us jump through hoops. First, we have to wait excessively long for H2V to even come out. By the time it does, a lot of us had lost interest. To play it, they expected us to buy a new OS. Seriously. (Granted it works on XP if you crack it properly.)

So, now that I have Win7 and can run the game, I picked it up. I open the box and get trolled by the manual: the first 2 pages of controls are for the smegging echsbawkz controller. This is a PC GAME. An FPS on a PC. And they show a controller? And throughout the manual, they keep showing the controller buttons, too.

So to save your progress and get achievements, you have to make a Games for Windows LIVE account. A hassle at first, especially if you only have 1 game that uses it. I had to make one for GTA IV, so I'm used to it by now. Then, once I made the profile and got into the menus, what did I see? On every menu page, the Accept and Back buttons have the little green As and red Bs. What, was it too much of a hassle to reskin the menus, removing the console references, since we're playing with a mouse and keyboard?

Groan. So I finally get to the game and start playing. The first Halo grabbed me from the first cutscene and didn't let go. It really felt epic. I get chills each time I see the Pillar of Autumn take heavy fire and fly over that little lifeboat. Halo 2, unfortunately, lacks the personality. It seems like they wanted to market it directly to the fratboys with a first level like something out of a terrible action movie. That crap about the bomb made me facepalm. At least they didn't use the godawful rock song from the soundtrack album...

Oh right, progress. I just reached the second level and am looking forward to the urban setting.

Hey, want some info that's going to ostracize me from the FF community for years to come? I like this game. I mean, sure, there's a lot I don't like (That god-awful pop song) but it's otherwise a really good FF game.

Hurm. Either they're really hard to get, or something is definitely amiss. Maybe you were playing in offline mode, or something? When I was playing with my account on a friend's 360, it screwed me out of achievements too.

Halo 2 [PC]:
Well, I WOULD have got that "clear a level without dying" achievement if the damn controls weren't so confusing. Got Falcon Punched by an Elite while trying to melee him, while dual-wielding. Which apparently, a genetically superior alpha male space marine d00d can't do. Ah well.

Got the Warthog and drove through the city. It was a little unusual to see a Warthog take damage (at least outside of the UT2004 Project Torlan mod). My HaloClix battle-damaged Warthog miniature makes a lot more sense now. (Man, I should play some HaloClix sometime...)

Was on the Metropolis level (gotta get that Scarab achievement) when someone all of a sudden invited me to a multiplayer game. I spent the next few hours playing multiplayer and getting a bunch of achiements. I think I doubled my gamer-score. Though that's not saying much since I only have 3 games that support Live, and I only play 2 of them.

I dunno. It always says I'm signed into Game for Windows Live. And their not THAT hard to get; there's one for removing the control chip on Jill while you and her are standing up called "Masters of Removing" (Even Capcom is making sure Barry is never forgotten), which I SHOULD have...assuming it actually gives me achievements like it says. I dunno, I never got a notification or anything to say "bleep bloop, you got an achieveable," so who knows.

Final Fantasy X-2:
Kicked a few more of LeBlanc's goons and took their clothing and OH MY GOD a hot springs scene....okay, back to business...okay, for real now. Enough getting distracted by fanservice.

Gave LeBlanc a sensual massage-FOR THE LOVE OF...I mean, I'm not complaining, but I'm trying to save the world here, stop distracting me! Got the location of Vegnagun. Popular theory is that if the thing activates, it will destroy Spira. As opposed to Sin, which was always active, but could at least be subdued, and who's rampages were destructive but otherwise not world-threatening. Huh.

Damn, man, thasumolbollsheet. What's your username? I'll add you as a friend.

Halo 2 [PC]:
Farming Achievements while multiplaying.

One more thing I forgot to mention is that PC gamers are restricted from accessing certain features (like being able to make their own game room, a standard staple of any online game of this nature) unless they become xbox gold people. WTF? Paying for a membership for a console to access a feature in a single PC game that should be available by default? Ah, Microsoft, you slay me.

GfW Live name is "ydwyrd" One of think links in my sig actually explains what that is and/or means.

Final Fantasy X-2:
So, Vegnagun, right? It wasn't where it was supposed to be. All I found there was...Bahamut! How's it going buddy, long time no see...why are you charging Mega Flare--OH GOD NO!

It's Old Yeller all over again, but instead of a dog with rabies I have a corrupted, psychotic Dragon God-King trying to kill me. So I had to put him down. now, Fiends are flowing out of the Temples around Spira. Methinks this isn't the only one of my old friends I'll have to kill...

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis:
You go to hell, Nemesis! You go to hell and you die! 8 Grenade Launcher rounds. That's how many he took before he went down. 8. Not three, most RE bosses can't take much more than 3. He ate 8, and came back for seconds. And he can go to hell!

Crashed the train, Umbrella once again shows the corners they cut seeing as how the emergency brake caused the train to derail which is, by my understanding, the exact opposite of what it was design to do.

That's what happens when the train is evil. Or at least used for evil.

I added you on Live, man. Maybe the reason why I wasn't able to add you at first is the reason you got conned out of your Achievements. At any rate, you should try a game and see what happens when you meet the criteria for an achievement now. Hope it works!

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Though I've been quite subtle about it, I don't particularly enjoy confrontations with Nemesis. I've used terms like 'dirty rotten bitch' and 'can go to hell and die' and I stand by those every time he appears on screen. I mean, Nemesis is not a bad concept, but his one-hit-kill grapple move is so cheap I want to smash my controller, until I realize that this is on PSP and breaking the controller would also break system.

Killed Nemesis outside the Chapel...that's a lie, he'll get up, he's taken worse beatings. But now Jill is infected, so I have to play as Carlos "Pick an accent and stick with it" Oliveira.

Ran some missions for the pirates until I ran out of missions. :-? After running a side-mission racing a boat through a minefield, the actual missions opened up again. Go figure.
Anyway, returned to the PLAV fold and ran an assassination mission, which was most easily solved through the use of armed helicopters.
They sent me on another mission to destroy a fortress currently being used as an army barracks and base. Took my helicopter through it, wiped out the barracks, and brought down the entire fortress.
I'm finally tracking down Solano and going to take him out. Considering I've only explored half the map at this point, I'm pretty sure I'm not at the endgame just yet.

From my last battle, hit a ranking challenge where I was attacked by a lightsaber-wielding schoolgirl who had a crush on me. Knocked her out and ran. After that, I had to break into a prison and release my next opponent, a woman in a fishnet bodysuit with poison breath. Sliced, diced, and pureed her.
Was informed that my next match was a battle royale. Waited my turn only to see that it was one-on-one due to my opponent having fried the other opponents. By the way, this opponent was a missile-shaped robot with a human brain and an earthquake generator. Word of advice, an exposed brain is an obvious weak point.
AFter the battle, Shinobu showed up with a story to tell. Guess who gets to play through that story.

At least you actually get to fight him this time.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis:
BEATEN! Just made some home-style Kentucky Fried Nemesis, only instead of being delicious, it's instead vengeance. I intentionally went for the ending with the cameo by Barry Burton.

Resident Evil 2:
Meanwhile, on the other side of Raccoon City...

I tried it on Rookie mode because I want to get the story without getting my ass kicked. It turns out, when they said "Rookie Mode" they meant "You get an infinite ammo SMG right when you start, and the first storage crate you find has an infinite ammo rocket launch and infinite ammo gatling gun, as well as a full stock of first aid sprays."

Going for Claire A/Leon B because that's apparently the canon version.

At least you actually get to fight him this time.

Henry still made his cameo, though as an homage to Han Solo, if you get the meaning.
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

Halo 2 [PC]:
Not sure how/why, but I seem to have access to the LIVEGOLDLOLZ-only features. Perhaps they've finally allowed ALL users to be able to make game rooms and parties. I sure hope so.

Human storyline is really just awful. Like something out of a terrible action movie. At least the Covenant story is interesting.

Cleared the Metropolis and sighed hard when the Chief emerged from the smoke cloud of the downed Scarab. How delightfully clichéd. Looking forward to the Arbiter level.

Was at a friend's house watching Halo Legends again and I tested a theory. I logged into my Live account on is 360 and did the first mission of GTA IV. It gave me the Achievement and the points. Strange, because other games didn't, and Ultimate Alliance 2 doesn't even properly track my progress towards Achievements when I play on my buddy's ECHZBAWKS. Ah well.

On an unrelated note, god damn, am I the only one who finds this site unbearable to visit without Firefox and AdBlock? Geez, it's like a freakin' Geocities page there are so many annoying .gifs...

Locking this thread up.

Not because anyone did anything wrong, but let's take all these discussions about these different games and make actual discussion topics out of them.

I'm actually hoping that getting more people into threads that they care about, instead of having to search through this for relevant games will help liven this forum up.

PM me with reasons to open the thread back up if you really find this move to be sandpaper on your bottom.

I'm splitting the difference by reopening this thread and removing the other.

Start a new topic for discussion game acquisitions.
