Id assume we would have to descover the Gestalts/Triplechangers/?-master/etc tech by taking the correct regions of Cybertron and unlocking it.

If that stuff doesnt appear until levels 2-3 (for example), it may be months until we can find it, but it will still be in there somewhere.

A game with some promise of longevity...

I'm all for it, a chance to really gain glory for the Decepticon empire! For those worried about it being too complex to play from work, I can't really say without knowing more but it sounds like you could just ignore the big picture and send your guys in to any random war zones that are active at the time, that way it wouldn't be really any different to sending them in to missions.

No Gestalts, no Triplechangers (with the initial release).
"Power-ups" will be more along the lines of resources and abilities.
I'll drop a one word hint to another power-up you will be fighting for in territories: Powerlinx

Level 0 up will have achievements to shoot for and things to do. You can either stick to the simpler aspects of the game you have now or jump right into the war.

I'll drop a couple of screenshots when I get further along. In the 3 weeks things should start coming together.

Can I be blunt and ask if there are any new Tactics being put into the game this time around?

There will be at least 3 tactics per alt mode.

whoa  .... this means if any real distinction is going to be maintained between alt modes we are going to be looking at 5+ tactics..... or just different upgrade costs. Hmmmm.... i wonder which.....

I have a question.

Will levels be determined by the characters experience rather than the number of upgrades?

Last I heard, the plan was for it to be xp based.

I do hope the plan stays that way, becuase the stat based level system is one of my least fav features of the current game.

Will the tactics all be alt specific? I'd imagine that one or two might be innate, maybe one faction specific, and the last 1 or 2 alt related but certainly they can't all be alt related, can they?

*ugh* Good to see the support staff thing has proven completely pointless and we're back to the programmer pushing through his own ideas and vision for this game.

I mean come on, of all the ridiculous gimmicks in TF mythology. Why that one? :?

a few will be interchangable. Here is an example from my development site:

Image

The levels will still be based on your upgrades but after level 0 you will need 1 or 2 more upgrades (10 or 11 instead of 9) to level up. This should compensate for the additional tactic.

Burn wrote:mean come on, of all the ridiculous gimmicks in TF mythology. Why that one? :?
Several people have asked for it and they are going to get it.
It was a pretty ridiculous gimmick but they were and are a very popular gimmick. There will be alot of the Transformers mythos in the new game and this will be in there for the people that liked it.

Several people have asked for other gimmicks as well.

So I ask again, but in a different way.

Why choose the gimmick from the lamest of all TF series?

Easiest to to implement?

And with a change of words, you can also get any other tf gimmick that involves pting two tfs together.

I think it'll be the Energon thing where two tfs form a larger one.

It was the Autobot gimmick in Energon.

All Autobots could combine with another (of the same class size at least) with one forming the lower half and the other forming the upper half.

It worked for some figures and you could make some really great combinations, but there were some bloody awful ones as well. Plus Energon had Ironhide and Kicker. 'nuff said. :P

No wonder you thought I was nuts, Burn.

I was referring to Minicons....

Armada Powerlinx, not Energon Powerlinx.

Could there be an otion to change the terminologie used if a player wants to?
For instence, game mechanic-wise, a minicon and a power master and a target master arnt THAT different. But I personally would much prefere to have Dreadspawn or Redimus as Power or Targetmasters rather than have them powerlinking with some fuglycon.
