So the CPU load is okay? It was just the server paging to disk that was causing the issues? I'm suprised you were able to keep going this long with only 2GB, we had to go to 3GB a year ago due to paging and we only have 1/3rd the registered users you do.

I've optimized the website about as much as possible. It's MySql that has more issues than anything. Too many queries going to the database at one time lock up the database. Blah.

In that case the RAM should be good, we were having db lockup issues too before going to 3GB. As long as the CPU load isn't too high this RAM upgrade should hopefully really help the whole site.
Question, are the forum pictures stored in the db? We cut MySql usage a lot by disabling that and having pictures stored on disk.
