Which is disgusting. Further proving that there's no justice for this girl, at all. (Other than she's finally at peace)

Yeah, why can't we sue people because someone got made fun of on the internet?!

Just noticed a couple of inconsistencies:

Megan ran upstairs, and her father, Ron, tried to tell her everything would be fine. About 20 minutes later, she was found in her bedroom. She died the next day.

So...they found her some time after she hanged herself (No more than 19 minutes)...and she somehow succumbed to her wounds the next day?

And if anyone wants them to press charges...this story is from over a year ago. Statute of Limitations is up.

Depends on the charges and IIRC there is no Statute of Limitaions for murder.

Suicide isn't murder.

EDIT: Okay, it's kind of like murder, but the killer and the victim have to be the same person.

Suicide IS for attention. You think people don't notice you but you think if you kill yourself, THEN they'll realize that you exist.

I consider suicide to be stupid, therefore, I think the people who do it are stupid (not in the sense that they have a low IQ but in the sense that it's a stupid thing to do).

There are people who are homeless and starving in this world, kids who don't get a Christmas because they live in poverty and people on our side of the world are going to commit suicide over something like this? Maybe people should take a trip to Africa and see what those kids go through on a daily basis. You don't have to be a teen or older to commit suicide. You can be any age yet those kids who are living far worse off in this world are holding onto hope.

We are all lucky enough to have access to internet, education, doctors, schools, have clothes, a place to live, food to eat. There are so many kids in this world who don't have any of that. Just imagine knowing that you might not even live until the age of 5, which goes for a lot of those African kids. Their parents die of AIDS and they live hungry and have to drink dirty water but they choose to live on.

I find it more horrendous that people living in better conditions can be so selfish and kill themself over petty things when there are people in this world who would do anything to have what we have.

QFT

Kinda silly how the only way a person feels they can get others to know they exist is by jumping out of exisence, huh? :P

I was talking about pressing charges in general, regardless
of whether they apply to this tragedy or not.

I don't think they can't press charges for suicide.

*Some* suicides are for attention. But some people commit suicide because they're tired of hurting (physically or mentally), because they think the world would be a better place without them, or as a cry for help, among many other possible reasons.

This doesn't feel like a "get attention" sort of suicide... I'd think the girl would have been far more histrionic about the matter and left a suicide note if that were the case.

I always hate this sort of argument. Just because someone is worse off than you doesn't mean that your life is necessarily enjoyable or pleasant. Better compared to someone else is not always good in an objective sense. And there's such a thing as delusional/pointless hope.

Yes, if you're a bullied kid in America, you are better off than a starving kid in Africa. Does that still make being friendless and emotionally abused on a regular basis a fulfilling and wonderful life to live (or even a tolerable one)? No, it does not.

I think that saying someone should be happy with a miserable life because "it could be worse" just exacerbates the depression, since a person will probably feel guilty and beat themselves up for actually having a normal reaction of being unhappy.

I was guessing she broke her neck, and that killed her as opposed to strangulation.

To those that say suicide is for attention, I would say that *attempted* suicides are often for attention; suicide attempts made with the intention (conscious or subconscious) of being stopped or saved. Slitting your wrists incorrectly for example, or calling someone just before you go to it. Of course, sometimes they bungle, and they do end up dying, so certainly some successful suicides are for attention, just the same as some are for revenge ('punishing' those that have wronged you by saddling them with guilt), and some are to avoid a fate the individual perceives as worse than death (like going to a prison and being roommates with 260lb convict that doesn't get regular conjugal visits).

If you're going to insist on equating suicide and murder, then at least assume that the motives and justifications for suicide are as diverse as those for murder.

The funny thing is, normally I'd respect other people's opinions, say, 'let's agree to disagree', but I used to think like some of you do. As an ignorant teenager, I condemned those who committed suicide as selfish, weak-willed fools (ironic, considering it was probably my own weak will that saved me from doing the same at that age). But a few years of higher education and self-examination changed my mind, so I'm inclined to perceive such black-and-white perspectives as a product of ignorance or naivete rather than valid, well-informed opinions.

Yeah, same here, pretty much. It wasn't hope or strength that kept me going; just the fact that I was too scared of dying.
