But seriously, this is the kind of legal bull**** that just makes me wonder why. Why does it have to be a crime written and relevant that should mean they get arrested?

An individual or more caused the death of a 13 year old girl. I rest my ****ing case.

Why isn't it that simple? I mean at least here nothing is in question. They got a girl killed. End of.

Surely?

But what is a foosball?

It's kind of like a mix between table tennis and pinball, and, of course, Soccer. (I'm not getting into that American Football vs. European Football again) You've got a bunch of rows of "Players" who are controlled by two people on both sides. Each row consists of about three or four "players" (Except for the goalie line, which only has one), and are controlled by pushing and pulling a stick, which makes the "players" in the row move side-to-side, and twisting it, which makes them kick. The objective is to get a small plastic ball into one of the goals at either end, like Soccer, or any team sports, really.

And, man, it's awesome. Better than regular soccer, because you don't waste as much energy, it goes great with beer (If you drink beer, anyway), and you can shout all the hilarious taunts you want.

Here's a Wikipedia article on it.

Oh it's table football!

Yea it's fun, oh and I've been drinking beer since I was 16, gotta love the German alc law!

Oh and in Germany we call table football, Kicker, just if you want to go and pons about with a foren language and irritate your friends. :P

Because, if we were all prosecuted by laws not on the books, it would be a totalitarian oligarchy. Just think for a second how that phrase "prosecuted by laws not on the books" actually sounds. We in the states constitutionally protect against that. She's the only one who can be legally held responsible for her death. A problem was presented to her, and she killed herself over it. Good job. Not my choice, but whatever works.

Sure, let's just start arresting people for non-crimes. That's exactly the kind of totalitarian society we should implement to make sure people aren't made fun of on the internet.

It's serious business, you know.

It isn't because guess what? She took her life by her own hand. No one suggested she kill herself.

And even more so, all they did was make fun of her. That happens literally a million times a SECOND on the internet. Want to make that a crime? Because then it would get mighty lonely on here.

I have depression... and no respect for that girl at all. If she's that weak, she deserves to die! 'Darwin Awards', anyone? Heck, if she'd survived her attempt, then I would have killed her myself.

...Sorry, my inner Megatron broke through for a minute.

But still, I have no respect whatsoever for people like that. They disgust me and I cannot help but hate them. I have no clue why.

Such a waste of a mind.

I hope they're pleased with themselves. If they aren't true scum, the guilt will eat them up and they themselves will commit suicide or the like.

If they do nothing in the way of action, they don't deserve their blips of existence.

Okay, here's what you probably don't realize:

All this was was a routine, run-of-the-mill "STFU n00b" post.

Never, ever, did they say "Hey, go kill yourself!" They probably didn't even suspect her to commit suicide.

As far as I know, it's not a crime to make fun of people on the internet. If it was, 99% of the Net Population would be in prison, and then the internet itself would cease to exist.

So...yeah, you can easily get away with going "STFU n00b" no matter the consequences. It's called the "Serious Business" Defense. I think there's a funny picture for it somewhere on this site.

This was just a stupid girl over reacting to something all of us have come to expect.

EDIT: Let me reiterate: Yes, it's perfectly okay to make fun of someone on the internet. I mean, if you can find me ONE site on the internet where someone doesn't get pushed around, I will laugh so goddamn hard, because it's likely going to be a site full of crybabies hugging each other and making themselves feel good and happy. Then, I'll probably forward it to Maddox, because he's a badass pirate who could handle that kind of thing properly.

Yes. But not because of this, because people get made fun of on the internet ALL THE TIME, and one person dying because of it means nothing.

Hell, if girl commits suicide because her boyfriend broke up with her, (And if you think that's uncommon, then you need to pay attention) let's sue the boyfriend! Because it's the same goddamn thing.

Instead, we should wipe MySpace, and perhaps we should also torture Tom Iscariot (Not his real name, but Biblical references are always awesome), because MySpace is a crappy idea of a website. Hell, Deviantart does more in five minutes than MySpace has done in ever. DA promotes creativity, but also includes a social system, which you don't even have to use to get noticed.

Not Tom's fault she killed herself. Geeze, I get the feeling here some people would rather have the government monitoring when they take a dump than have a few crazies kill themselves from a bit of free press. A little sad, but her own damn fault. We all get ****, we all deal with it. Taking hits is a part of life. And some people decide they just can't take life. They decided for themselves. Good for them.

Given the amount of **** I have recieved and dished out in life and online, and still stand here alive, anyone who takes it seriously enough to top themselves was bound to do it in their life anyways. If it wasn't some myspace hoax, it would've been a genuine relationship, some failed tests, a broken nail, a half-cooked risotto or a bad marriage 10 or 15 years later. The only person to blame for this is the one who killed herself. She's to blame for putting her family through ****.

....I really don't have much to add but what's already been said (was going to, but was a victim of the dreaded "no post mode specified")....but what I will say is just my general feelings on suicide:

No matter how bad this life may be, or how much more crap you see in your future, it has no chance whatsoever of getting better if it stops.

......that & I wish I'd quit seeing normal everyday run-of-the-mill newsworthy crap getting tied to popular services/products just to get a few more seconds of fame(infamy). Today it's Myspace....Yesterday it was Grand Theft Auto.....Tomorrow it'll be person with eating disorder dies after an eating binge they claim the Atkins diet caused. & hoestly, it's not so much that the media thinks it's such a tragedy that people should be aware of it that it is they want to boost their ratings through the misfortunes of others. That's what really sickens me on stuff like this.

Sorry but I don't see how one person is just to blame.

For starters, people seem to still be forgetting the fact she was apparently suffering from depression. That **** can cause you to do a lot of stupid things. Don't even attempt to understand it unless you've experienced it because it can make you into a completely different person.

Her parents, if they knew about her depression, should have been keeping a better eye on her, and definitely not allowed her to have a computer in her own room. She clearly needed to be monitored.

"Josh" ... well really, I can't see how this woman is to blame at all. Unless she knew about the girl's depression in which case she should have realised the ramifications of what she was doing. If she didn't know however then how would she know she was doing any harm? She probably just figured the kid was mentally healthy enough to get over it.

And MySpace is definitely not to blame. It's just one medium where a person's feelings can be hurt, be it online or offline as JP said. If people are going to hurt you they're going to hurt you wherever they can.

I think that woman's actions to create "Josh" was extremely immature, but I don't think she deserves to rot in prison or anything. It would just destroy her family as well. I'm sure living with a 13-year-old girl's death on her conscience is going to be its own hell.

It fault mainly lies with the girl's parents, I believe, by not monitering her online activity better whilst knowing she was depressed. They too will have this girl's death on their conscience. It's just a tragedy any way you look at it. Though....it seems odd that just 20 minutes later her body was found after that confrontation. That is some serious mental issues. Lots of teenagers contemplate suicide and never carry it out, not like that.

In the course of about an hour hour, I was physically forced to sit up straight, because I was tired, and wanted to lean on the arm of the couch I was on in the counseling center. I was mentally tortured for a couple hours after that. Because they pushed me so much, I was put in a separate room, where they made me apologize in a written letter that, of course, I never wrote.

After the counselor watching me insulted me multiple times, I attempted to make my own escape via an open door. I put my hand on the door frame, where, when the counselor slammed the door, I ended up with a flap of skin on my right ring finger, and a severe bruise UNDER the nail. They had my mom come in, and everything that happened was blamed on me being a "Danger to myself and others." I was institutionalized for a week. That's likely where my constant rage and mental anguish comes from. And I don't think I've ever told this story in full before.

Okay, your turn.

EDIT: Oh, excuse me, I was eleven at the time. It was in sixth grade. They kept me medicated as much as possible, and I only stopped the past few months, because I realized it didn't matter anymore.
