That depends on many things, Megatron is deadly no matter what alt mode he has.Saber Prime wrote:He could have gone from a Cybertronian tank to an Earth tank which would have been a better fit. But no he got turned into a hand gun.
That's what makes him cool, he's killed more Autobots as a gun than a tank.Saber Prime wrote:Now if Shockwave had went to Earth with them and scaned the gun he'd be fine. He was allready a gun on Cybertron but at least he could fire on his own and not have someone else hold him.
Why do you say that? Because of the cartoon? You can't use the comics to back up something then use the cartoon to back up another point. In the War Within Shockwave was a tank too. Seems that the powerful Decepticons think a gun is a better upgrade...Saber Prime wrote:Allthough that might suck for Soundwave. Mabe they should change his name to Lightwave sence he transforms into a light post. Allso while we're on the subject of Cybertronian modes. Why was Laserbeak still a casset tape on Cybertron? He looked like a flying saucer with a head in bird mode but then he turned into a casset tape. That really made no sence.
Again, using the cartoon or the comic??? Which is it? You can only have one point of reference for alt modes because every continuity did them differently.
I imagine in the cartoon, Soundwave could change into many different forms as his disguise. Laserbeak was a recording tape of somekind, his robot mode was some kind of Cybertronian bird thing.
Soundwave only went from being a lamp post on Cybertron to a tape deck on Earth.
And... "A recording tape of somekind"? It's called a casset tape. That's the only kind of "recording tape" there is. And the odd thing is on Cybertron, he still was a casset tape.
That'd be a loosing bet. Laserbeak along with all the other transformers of his kind are refered to as "Casseticons" by alot of fans due to the fact they are "Casset Tapes"bookofjunon wrote:Saber Prime wrote:I'm useing the cartoon and fragments of information I got from other people about the comics sence I don't actully read them.bookofjunon wrote:Saber Prime wrote:Technically wasn't Megatron really a Tank originally anyway?

Well you can't have it both ways you can have Cartoon or comics, the two don't mix. As for cassette tapes, there are other kinds of recording tapes besides cassette tapes but you are probably not old enough to remember them. I am also willing to wager Laserbeak wasn't a cassette, he was probably some sort of digital recording tape. I mean come on, think for a minute.

also known as overlord! (masterforce reference)
Night Raid wrote:When people say "Megatron would be good as a jet" they don't mean a fighter jet. They are probably think of something like Energon Megs, more of a B-52 than an F-22.
Actually, more like an A-10 Thunderbolt, better known as the Warthog. Meanest jet out there, man.
EDIT: A B-52 fits the bill if you consider the 'hits like several tons of bricks' factor, but if you want speed, maneuverability, versatility in a combat zone and the ability to take one heck of a beating, a Warthog's the way to go.
How's this for proofSledge wrote:Wait, are you seriously arguing that fanwankery is acceptable as proof in a TF argument? BWHAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA! That fails more than Shockwave when he tried to take part in "Hands Across America."
Laserbeak was given the alternate mode of a red cassette tape.
The Cassette Transformers are really the size of mini cassettes

I personally dislike the idea of the Warthog. Granted, it is the tank killer and pretty much awesome but it's not intimidating just by looking at it and it's relatively small.
I'll put this out there now "I do not want Megs as a B-52" However, I would like his design to be based off of the Stratofortress, perhaps fused with an SR-71 Blackbird for sleekness and speed.
I don't think Megs should ever be an Earth vechicle. Megs is way too stuck up to take on a puny Earth form.
Dear god, for the first time ever, Saber has produced evidence to back up his thoughts! I feel like a father watching his child take it's first steps.Saber Prime wrote: How's this for proof
Soundwave is a CASSET PLAYER! What more proof do you need?
Or here how about this http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Laserbeak_(G1)Laserbeak was given the alternate mode of a red cassette tape.
Or this http://www.seibertron.com/toys/gallery. ... =0&start=0The Cassette Transformers are really the size of mini cassettes
And here's a picture of Laserbeak with a REAL casset tape.
There is literally no doubt about it, no room for speculation. There is NOTHING else Laserbeak could possibly be.

As Yoda would put it, 'Size matters not'.
Alot of War Within characters do have the same alt modes as the G1 cartoon, including Jazz and Bumblebee. Only their robot modes were changed to fit the vehicle mode sence the original Bumblebee still looked he Transformed into a VW Bug.Rodimus Primal wrote:The G1 toon writers and animators didn't care too much about what the alt modes on many of the TFs were back on Cybertron or they would have made all of the characters look different in both modes. The important thing was that they were different. War Within did more proper redesigns for them that were cool enough to make fans want them made into officially canon toys.
Megatron can be whatever he wants to be. In all incarnations he's been extremely powerful. I just think his jet modes have been very cool.

I think the War Within designs are cool because they look like the Cybertronian vehicles rather than Earth forms and still look like they kept most of their robot mode appearance. WW Megatron for example even though he has a different alt mode still looks mostly like G1 Megatron but with a little more detail.
I don't really like the story line because the Dynobots shouldn't exsist yet but they still look cool.

You make a good point, sence all the Transformers are self piloting there really is no point in haveing driver seats.Leonardo wrote:Saber Prime wrote:Alot of War Within characters do have the same alt modes as the G1 cartoon, including Jazz and Bumblebee. True enough. Wheeljack is another one whose War Within alt.mode looks almost identical to his G1 cartoon Cybertronian mode.
I never did understand, though, why their Cybertronian modes had canopies, cockpits, etc. If they were robots in disguise, what type of vehicles were they supposed to be? I know they were Cybertronian but who would have piloted them? Smaller Cybertronians? Who would have ridden on Cybertronian Groove? He appears to have a seat / saddle in "The Dark Ages".

Even the G1 U.S. and U.K. comics from Marvel had the Dinobots exsisting on Cybertron before coming to earth. The original Toy bio's on the tec-spec's on the back of the Dinobot toy's box's said that the Dino's were from Cybertron and every comic since has told the story the same way.
But since I dont think your into comics all that much you might not have knowen that.
The only time that the Dinobots story had them being created on earth was in the G1 toon.
