I had been seriously considering relocating to the Pacific Northwest, either to Northern Oregon or somewhere in Washington, preferably close to the coast. But now I'm not so sure...

Well, if it helps, this is truly the worst fire season in the entire history of Washington state. So next year, we're going to be prepared to the point of insanity.

BUT

This morning we've had a gift from the heavens! Rain! LOTS OF RAIN!!

Image

Amazing what a little H2O can do for air quality, now I don't feel like I'm breathing sludge. This is the second rain we've had since June 3rd. The one previous to this was more of a sprinkling then a downpour.

Okay so here's the thing, much like Madeus said, this is the worst it's been in like decades, i think the last time something remotely like this, and even then it wasn't this bad, happened in '93. The problem we've been havign is due to the fact we've been having very hot and humid summers, with very warm winters, which is the opposite of how the climate should be; rain, rain, more rain, and snow.

The coast in Oregon, I cant attest for washington, is piss freezingly cold with annoying rain, this coming from someone who likes the rain. The country area's in southern and eastern Oregon are very arid, and full of very deliverance-y people. If you come here, you really want to stay in the Metropolitan areas like Portland and Seattle. Trust me when I say, living in a studio apartment in the city, is way better than living in a house in the ghetto, country, or god forbid Clackamas. If you want a look at pictures just look at Alpha Bravo-Shock since I film in public. I also have a whole bunch of unused establishing shots of the city, so here.

Thanks for the advice. I grew up in Ohio so cold and snow doesn't bother me. I live in South Georgia now and the heat is killing me down here. I need to get the hell out. I never even been in the Northwest, and a few people told me I should go visit 1st and check it out. I like that kind of weather, and I can put up with most types of people. For me it's a question of finding a place to live and a job. I really don't like big cities, though.

Well, there are number of smaller towns in the Pacific Northwest that, while I prefer the city, are not bad at all. Spokane is decent, but not someplace I'd want to live, Seattle used to be nicer, don't get me wrong, it's a awesome city, but it's awfully touristy. Portland, I believe, out of all the big cities, is your best bet (it's a walking-type city. Idaho is nice too, but honestly, not much there besides Moscow and Boise.

For Oregon, Portland, and some of the larger cities like salem, are really the only place too get a job, mostly because that's where most of the states economy and infrastructure is. Most of the rest of oregon is very country and they've made damn sure none of the city's made it there. Then they complain when they don't have any form of local economy, or have modern infrastructure....

What's wrong with Clackamas? I would prefer a smaller town, but it will all be dictated by job availability and cost of living.

Despite portland being a "big city" it's really just a large metropolitan area. It's not all Portlandia or darth vader on a unicycle, most people keep to themselves, and are kinda quiet. Also, that darth vader dude is an asshole, totally shoulder checked me once.

Well the distinction is the population of Portland is 619,360, and let's saaaaay Los Angeles is 3,928,864. yet both cities are recognized internationally. Portland is just very metropolitan, it's actually a pretty small city. traffic is somewhat congested, however thats from people who come into town to work, or visit. People who live here walk, bike, or use public transit which is pretty cheap. Everything is within blocks of each other. Most homes/apartments and condos are located within a few yards of multiple restaurants and convenience stores. Actual grocery stores and Mass merchandise are within a few blocks, nothing that can't be walked to within 20 minutes at leisurely pace. Most of the tax dollars go to infrastructure and public establishments such as the parks, museums and libraries. For example, OMSI, which is used a STAR labs in the Flash is the The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. It contains three auditoriums, including a large-screen theatre, planetarium, and exhibition halls with a variety of hands-on permanent exhibits focused on natural sciences, industry, and technology. Transient exhibits span a wider range of disciplines. It's also the home to The USS Blueback (SS-581) which was used In the Hunt for the Red October. Multnomah County Central Library is an acre large with a four floor marble stair case. The library’s collections weigh more than 875 tons and take up 17 miles (27 km) of shelf space, with multiple rare books.

Don't forget....that Oregon also featured in the original G1 Transformers comics & cartoon series! even though there really isn't a Mt St Hillary(I guess it was meant to actually be Mt St Hellens).

I know this is rather stupid.....but I used to think that transformers fans would visit the area to try & spot locations that closely resembled the areas used in the G1 comics & cartoon

Yes, because a movie about the violence surrounding drug trafficking is what turns people away... Image

Also, this being the Man Thread, I have the urge for a small rant. Why the hell does a woman feel the need to be dishonest with a guy to fit her needs, when the guy has been nothing but honest and respectful with her? A lot of women complain about being mistreated by women, yet they do the same thing. I don't know, I guess I just don't get it. Image >:oP

I'm Admin, tell it to the Mod that just blatantly ignored your complaint! :-P
