The Star Wars Toy Haul Thread

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Speaking of EU, I picked up the Quinlan Vos / Grahrk comic pack today. Procrastinated long enough on that one.

Still haven't gotten it. The figures look cool, but I've only ever read one Vos comic (the one where he has to fight Secura on Honnoghr) so I've lacked any drive to get him.

How well articulated is he?

The books are pretty much considered "mainstream" now.
They are canon as well.

Well Lucas kind of crapped on them in favor of the Anakin trilogy

About as much as any current SW figure by my recollection, although I do know that some of the most recent have many, many points of articulation.

Would anybody here like to see a evolution type of set with 10 year old Anakin,Young Boba Fett and the Luke and Leia "babies"

Either that or a Battle Pack with Yoda teaching younglings

I'm surprised not to see a young Anakin being reissued.

I can give you the address of local couple comic shops and plenty of people that go to them that read all the Star Wars novels and have described to me how my lack of knowledge about the "mainstream" books makes me that much less of a Star Wars fan.

And after chatting with some on the 501st boards, at one time they only allowed costumes in that were from the movies.
HOWEVER now they allow EU characters because in the Star Wars fandom they have become more mainstream.

Look through some of the suits and look for EU characters like clone emperor, Xizor and a bunch more.

No no, you misunderstand.

What I'm looking for is a statement from Lucas or someone of equal relative importance that has established the EU as canon.

I had understood that Lucas had basically given the green light for people to write whatever the heck they wanted, but had as of yet, not adopted any of it as official (as in the basis for an episode 7).

Ah I see what you are asking..
I (and others) were under the impression that the novels and comics were considered canon due to Lucas's approval.
Let me ask around and see if anyone knows this for a fact.

Well, from what I know. I can't, for the life of me, remember where I read this.

But before any Star Wars book is published, Lucas(or someone at Lucas Arts) goes through reads the entire thing, then greenlights it.

The greenlight, I figure, makes it in continuity.

Edit: Found this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expanded_U ... (Star_Wars)#Continuity_and_canonicity

and looks like I was wrong about, in parts, about Lucas reading it and all that.

I got my Animated Boba Fett in the mail from BBTS.

Also got the Ultimate Hunt versions of McQ Stormtrooper, McQ Fett, McQ Chewbacca, and McQ Animated Fett.

I'm digging animated Fett a lot. I like his colors! 8)

I read that article as well.

George Lucas wrote:I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions.

I've read a vast majority of the EU and find it a lot more appealing at times then the normal episode 1-6 world.

Amen. 4-6, is great, 1-3 not so much, but a lot of the expanded stuff is so good. In fact when I buy toys now, a lot of them are expanded universe related items, rather than rehashes of 1-3 characters, or even old favorites like Boba, or the Royal Guard...

That's one of the reasons that a lot of these comic two packs are so cool. New characters for the most part. That's also one of the reasons I like the McQuarrie concept figures so much. It's like a whole 'nother universe of Star Wars characters and ideas.

See, I sort of agree, I liked elements of 1-3, Qui-gon, Darth Maul, the Clone Wars, Anakin killing babies, but as whole movies, Lucas could have made them better.

I think if they had at least another half hour or hour added onto them, they could have made the movies better. Like Anakin's fall to the dark side. Instead of just "I just lopped off Sam Jackson's arm, ok I'll be a sith now." They could have added more to it.

But I gotta say, 2, 4, and 5 are my favorite films. RotJ was lame. No way would Ewoks defeat the Empire. Knowing the Empire, they would have just fire-bombed the planet.

All of the KOTOR games, comics and etc are awesome. The chracters are dynamic in so many ways.

I mean the freaking mandolorians are like the huns of the galaxy, nearly unstoppable.

Out of episodes 1-3, like Hugo said there are a few things I liked a lot. Maul, Jinn, Dooku, and the beginning and end of Anakin Skywalker.
The history of the Skywalker family is awesome as well.

But there aren't chracters like Bane, Revan, Mallak, Jolee Bindo, Nomi Sunrider, Ulic Quel Droma and his brother.
Exar Kun, the creator of the double blade lightsabre. Darth Nihlus, Darth Sion, I mean he embodies the dark side and the pun is intended.
Lord Hoth is and was one of the hardest hitting and most angry Jedi out there.

I mean a lot of my customs are EU characters.

Quinlan Vos is not EU. He was during the clone wars and even mentioned in episode three. So going by some peoples logic about Lucas, since he mentioned him, he must be "Lucas Cannon".

If any one wants to learn or catch up on the EU, check out the star wars chronology book. It will get you on the right track. It's a fantastic read.
Our the star wars guide to characters. That is also a brilliant book.

I could post volumes of goodness about the EU.

But to agree with TigerT,I am very excited about the comic packs. It's finally something fresh and new, and not the stale, oh look its Han Solo again....yippee figures.

I wonder what you do with your time? No gf, no kids...and etc?

You do realize that the live action tv series will be no doubt the EU, in the picture we saw it was Boba Fett's head.

So if Boba has to do anything with it, it will be expanded universe. Where it entails his growing up without Jango, hunting bounties during all the 3-6 movies.
The entire bounty guild is considered EU.

If it is about a time between 3 and 6, that would also be considered EU. Since niether were mentioned in any of the movies, with the exception of the clones wars being brought up by Obi-wan, in episode 4.

Since he is dead as some "Lucasites" see it.

And if Lucas doesn't care about the EU, why was he stated a few months back that Luke would only ever have one child, meaning Ben. Yeah, it was foreshadowing the eventual death of Mara, but still he made that descision, and it was set in stone.
For someone not too care, that sure seems like caring.

I am wondering the same thing..

I work a full time job (55+ hours a week)
Have a wife and 2 kids
Troop in the 501st
Help to run this website
Volunteer for the audio/video dept at our church
Go to a weekly church life group

And I still find time to read.. Hell even with that schedule I read the last Harry Potter book in 2 days.

I know DS is in the same kind of boat as I am in too.
