Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.
Leader Rodimus Prime look mighty sweet... from the front. But from the back, he look like a hollow shell. Is there some hidden feature yet to be revealed?
Voyager Starscream. Look great, but I fear it's one of those lazy "bot under a jet" design. Can't deny the quality of his paintjob though.
Dreadwing/Darkwing are combiner limbs! And Skullgrin is a headmaster in a tiny pretender shell! Does that mean Power of the Primes will be Combiner Wars and Titan Return plus a new twist all mashed into one line? Anyway, so much to love!
One thing that I expect is that the price will surely follow the TLK 1er line. Those figures look far more "premium" than the previous Generations ones.

Pass: Liege Maximo: I'll stick with the T30 Skullgrin. Plus give me a real Voyager or Leader class Liege that's IDW based that can have a Tyrest remold.
Jazz: It looks lame. I'll stick with my RTS version
Maybe: Starscream: He looks a bulky, clunky mess but if he's just mis-transformed I'll give it a chance. Dreadwind & Darkwing: I'm just about sick of these CW Aerialbot remold's. But these aren't too bad.
Want: Beachcomber: Honestly he's the best looking figure on the panel. Rodimus Prime: Knew he was coming which is why I skipped TR Deluxe Hotrod.
Overall this Panel was kind of MEH! But wave 1 of TR wasn't all that great IMO either, so here's hopes that there's better to come in POTP.

Kurona wrote:Jazz's combiner peg is a bit hard to see in bot mode (which, let's face it, is kind of awesome -- it's really nice to for once get a combiner component that doesn't show off its combining).
And its the first car combiner limb to not have a fake chest. Kudos for them finally figuring that one out
Albatross250 wrote:Anyone thinking about Animated Starscream for this mold?
I think more Universe King Atlas and Universe 2.0 Silverbolt
Zeedust wrote:Somebody please tell me Jazz and the jets have HFGs or something!
They do, you can see them becoming chest armour when you go to minute 28 of the presentation
lupinesithlord wrote:Any word as to whether or not dreadwind & darkwing will combinable for dreadwing?
Yup, just scroll down the front page of the site and you should see an image of it.
And yup, those pics under the glass shelf for starscream totally reveal combiner wars ports. Well, glad to know there is a reason though I still dont like the aesthetic.

He must make delicious cookies then.
Munkky wrote:Liege Maximo - I like the Pretender Decoy Suit based on Skullgrin, though I do hope this isn't it for Liege Maximo and he gets at least a Deluxe figure as well. Same goes for the rest of the Primes.
Hope is simply undiscovered disappointment.

It's G2 launch.
The original Transformers line started in 84 as being 100% straight redecos of previously released toys with removed accessories and functionality. And look at where we are today.

Don't worry, you're not completely alone. I like 'em too!...could be because I don't have any variations of the Aerialbots. But still, I like them and I'll probably be adding them to my shelf.
I think what they did with those is genius. I am not a fan of needless retools and redecos but here they took the combiner port technology and adapted it to redo their G1 gimmick. I will be buying those based on that genius notion alone.
ScottyP wrote:Can't wait for that Starscream to be Skyquake. Turbomaster and Predator combiners, let's do this.
I totally got that vibe too, but thinking of King Atlas.
Also, am I the only one who finds it pretty nuts that they introduce a modernized gimick of a smaller transforming robot who turns bigger with a giant suit on.... AFTER they release Power Master Optimus?!

Voyagers: Torso (obviously) Deluxe: Limbs (yeah) Prime Master shells: Hands and feet?
Just thinking that Liege Maximo's Skullgrin shell sits awfully flat in weapon mode and sort of resembles a foot. I wonder if there's a flip up peg hiding underneath Maximo's head? And what if they went a step further and the combiner head was just a helmet to stick a Titan/Prime Master in?

Sorry if this dashes your hopes any bit, but, these are all hand painted prototypes made from white plastic. The siege on cybertron box set had the same thing, but the gold on metal hawk was a dull gold plastic, and Magnus prime ended up with a grey trailer and not a painted, silver one.

The hands/ feet are the armour accessory that come with the deluxes. You see it in this image:
Its just the same HFG but now with an extra peg inside it to accomodate the Prime Masters.
Burn wrote:So our hopes for a modern Pretender line is this ... yay.
Or it could also be the other amazing extreme. Look at Rodimus, thats the same as a mega pretender where both parts transform.
Its about a bunch of leaders fighting for the matrix so I would be surprised if one of these isnt Thunderwing. He would be a small jet that turns into a bot with the bigger jet component becoming the bigger robot that the smaller robot would fit into.
So this line is offering us 2 possible ways to get pretenders both reworking the pretender gimmick in its own way.

-Kanrabat- wrote:And Skullgrin is a headmaster in a tiny pretender shell!
Nope. What looks like Skullgrin is actually a "Prime Master" called "Liege Maximo" that hides in a "Decoy Suit".
So our hopes for a modern Pretender line is this ... yay.
If my eyes dosent deceives me, it's IS a tiny bot hiding in a shell. No matter what they call it. I wonder what will be the gimmick here though.
The gimmick is the Prime Masters "power up" the bigger bots (like Hot Rod's armour into Rodimus Prime. Basically Power Masters and Head Masters).
Did you read the news or are you just looking at the pretty pictures?
TBH, I just came in through the pretty pictures.
But as Will say, there is clues from Pretenders with a dash of Power Masters. That's why Rodimus Prime seem so empty from the back! So in fact, it's the Pretender's return... It's the MEGA Pretender's return!
On a side note, G1 Sky Shadow, Y U 2000$?

I was hoping for a little more articulation. And I think it could have been done by having the fold around the waist line, allowing for hips and knees. They only need to hinge the front half of the upper torso as well securing the back which can support articulated shoulders.

I honestly can't tell what I'm looking at on Jazz's chest. All I see is a black blob with a Maximo head pasted on it. Honestly, Jazz having a protruding chest makes slapping two more things out in front of it sound stupid. Let's see how well he does not falling forward. They might be trying too hard with this Prime Master gimmick.
Burn wrote:The problem with Hot Rod combining with a trailer to become Rodimus Prime is he still looks like Hot Rod but with a big useless backpack.
I wish they would have gone the Ultra Magnus/PM Prime route, or a giant version of the Titanium figure, where the entire vehicle transforms into the robot mode and nothing has to be attached/detached during transformation. This would have made Rodimus an entirely separate character from Hot Rod as the Hot Rod figure wouldn't have been used at all.
Exactly. It's just Hot Rod with a trailer boost. Not exactly an "evolved" character.
What other characters do we think will have the "evolve" gimmick?

Optimus Primal was confirmed.

Well, i'm not expecting a Pretender and they give us this... oh well pass Sorry for double posting on other Threads, yet i'm really a slow reader and a late bloomer this week

Now that I've slept and have awoken with fresh eyes I can have another look at these. And they suck. I still really love the beefy detailed way Rodimus looks from the front and wish he was voyager class. The rest of the toys just look like junk. Seriously I don't get how anyone can be remotely interested in that Jazz when the RTS mold blows it away (I have the Takara version up for sale cos I'm culling down a bit on G1 update figures in favour of my movie stuff).
I've wanted revamped Pretender shells for ages and this is what we get? And the previously creepy-shelled Skullgrin gets cutesified like a Funko Pop figure?
Really the only figure here which fits it's purpose well and works for fans of the original G1 toy seems to be Beachcomber. Whom I have zero interest in (even have the previous 2008 figure here i found at a car boot sale, selling it with some other similar sized figures)
Kurona wrote:Personally I think dismissing Darkwing and Dreadwind as Aerialbot repaints prevents you from seeing the positives they do have and realising they do actually look like decent figures, but hey, I guess positivity just isn't fashionable these days.
I didn't actually recognise them as aerialbots as first glance cos I was so excited to see the return of these two characters, an excitement that quickly vanished when I realised these figures kinda suck. And theeen I saw them for what they were. Lousy CW crud.

No I already commented earlier that they should have waited for this line before designing Powermaster Prime.
This looks like a total mess of a toyline. That's cool. I'll save my money then.
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool!
Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot) Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

I think you're missing the bigger picture here. This line is meant to be a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" collection. Nothing make sense, everything is a mish mash of the last two lines with what seems like every idea that didn't quite make it for the first two. These look like interesting figures, but the part many people are forgetting is that these aren't trying to usurp traditional generation figures as the "be all, end all" of these characters. Also, I don't know what your collection's display method is or anything like that, but some of these look like they'd be great army bulkers.
(If this makes no sense it's because it's midnight and I'm half asleep, sorry for making anyone read through this jumbled mess of non-argument.
