If I were to invest in a light damage weapon would it do less damage than a non-weapon, strength based attack or does light mean p/k damage + a small amount extra?

In theory, armed should do more damage than unarmed (unless there's a *lot* of STR (strength) on the unarmed character). However I'm not sure that particular fix was re-instated properly after the last major crash.
In my experience in the game, depending on how much STR you have, you're probably better off Brawling for now (although it doesn't harm to look at the character's next few results, then give him the FRP (firepower) and weapon, and take note of the results afterwards. You can always reset if you are not happy with the performance).

Redimus is right for the most part, no I haven't heard if that was fixed yet either sadly.

What I've seen is going with the highest damaging weapon in the category you want Light Damage vs none, with the non recharge as the recharge times still are a bit lengthy. The non weapon punch/kick I believe is a verity of non recharge, but its been a while. I could be wrong, but if I am right, that's what makes it viable.
