Women and transformers

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Rules are obviously not the same as Playboys don't need to be wrapped in black plastic here. Just put out of reach of minors. (though there's a few newsagents that don't bother complying with that even)

Also now I dismember my old barbie dolls
1.tear off head
2cut off all hair
3.cut head a little for brain surgery
4.keeps cutting until I see brain
5.never sees brain so keep on cutting until head is in a nice even two
6.Throw away body except for arms

lovely dismemberment huh folks :P Didn't mean to freak some of you out

Also what I like about TFs I dunno I think it just gives me a break from reallity and stuff. They are just really cool I never had any toys either when RID was around I don't remember hardly anything about it though :P

I'd never hurt my My Little Pony items from the 80's though.those could go for a bunch on ebay some day :P

I just stipped my barbies naked, and stuffed them back in their barbie house, then went to play with my paperdolls who actually had clothes that werent a royal pain to get on and off. The paperdolls looked better too. Oh no we should never hurt the Ponies they may look a little bit cutesy but they at least are our friends, and not out to warp our minds like barbie was. :P But I loved my She-ra figures. Them and the ponies have a place of honor in my curio-cabinet.

Cosmo I dont read, I personally find it silly, but that's just me. I don't like the way magizines like that present a warped image of what women should look like. And no I dont think kids should read them.

Back when I ran the news department of the local WHSmith I got to read the cover of every womens magazine. Why women continue to buy that stuff, particularly the gossip magazines escapes me. They are shockingly bad. The worst part of it is they sell like hotcakes.

I don't buy the gossip rags, but I do read PerezHilton and a couple other sites. I just love it, but that's me. I can't really relate to Cosmo, as it's written for single women, but I still enjoy reading it. It's cheap to subscribe, so what the hell.

As for Barbies, I had a zillion of them and I loved em. Now, there were a couple that I cut their hair off, or I made them break their legs, but for the most part I took good care of my Barbies.

I had no cool toys as a very small kid, just some Barbies and a Zoid. Guess which was more fun? :P Even my brothers Action Man was better than Barbie, although I must admit I did used to make them kiss.

I have almost made up for the lack of childhood toys now though with all my lovly Tfs :D

I have never understood any of the fashion/gossip/teen magazines. I read one called Lush once years ago, as all my friends were reading it at the time, and it was basically how to become a 9 year old slut in two easy lessons. And its not the worst by far.

Thing is though, I have seen mothers encouraging their little girls to go out and read this trash, the same mothers then buy thier kids Bratz dolls and the outfits to match. I simply cannot get my head around this. It disgusts me, to be frank.

One thing I must admit to is, if I'v got a long boring train or bus ride, I sometimes buy one of those really cheap 30p mags, filled with "Shocking real life stories!" to read. Because, they are simply the best comedy imagenable, I can laugh for hours at the crap these things contain.

While I hate to admit you are somewhat right, I have always vehemently disliked the lolicon element in Anime. But every time someone blames Anime for the sexualization of today's female youth... it gets me very depressed and a little part of me dies. =/

For every gross borderline insult that comes out of Japan, there is a lot of good material, even on the school theme, that does not cross that line. I hope that you don't judge it too harshly.

But I feel I must apologize for the rest of the fandom. I'm sorry.

Don't need to aplogize Anime isn't to blame really in Japan dressing like they do in the cartoons could be seen as provocative as is She-Ra was. She wore Skimpy outfits and what could be 7 inch heels and we as kids watched it. Let us not forget the other female super heros like Wonder Woman, and cat woman. But the white skinned young blonde haired blue eyed girl was always an object of desire If you look at the walls of Pompeii's Prostitution houses, There are frescos of these type of women preforming sexual acts on the outside of the building.
I have read some Greek poetry where they tell stories of 12 year old girls putting a part of thier robes up over thier arms to show off their butts.

Anime shows what the Japanese finds attractive in women. Women who are fair skinned and beautiful. This is almost like the Geisha who japan still is seen as beautiful. (No they are not whores either.)
Remember the stuff we get here in the US is actually meant for teens and adult in Japan. Also in japan nudity isn't an issue. They see the human body as a natural thing. If you go to japan for the hot springs you go inside them naked and some are unisex. We could also stand to mention the Penis festival. A fertility festival where they parade a giant penis though out the city.
I will not get into the fundushi underwear. But If i could I would...if you catch my drift...

I know it isn't responsible, I would be saddened if it was. But if you are a fan I'm sure you know how sad it is that a lot of the male fans get drawn into the whole loli thing.

It's such a touchy subject, and I wouldn't drag things off topic like this if it didn't concern me a lot. While things like Bratz are responsible for children dressing inappropriately, I am concerned the loli element in Anime and Manga will poison the perceptions of weak willed and weak minded men who fall under it's influence. When you get pictures like this which portray a sexualized image of a very young girl, it is cause for concern.

Now I suddenly don't want to talk about it anymore. v.v Sorry again, I will go away and take my preachy nonsense with me.

Please keep preaching...This is an interesting topic as an anime fan...
But you gotta admit that as a westerner looking in that the Japanese women at age 18 look increadably young!
and that we are as humans programed to look at a face and want to give attention to a big eyed big headed skinny bodyied humanas. And one thing took that because of the popularity of anime and manga. its hard to tell what is legit japanese art and what is someone anywhere in the world who has good drawing skills and access to a decent copy of photoshop.

BTW you can go off topic I dont mind...

*raises hand* I got to watch some of the series as a kid, and my parents bought me a few of the original figurines (I still need to find my Devastator and Computron... I loved Devastator as a kid). However, I got distracted by various other fandoms for a long time, but have come back to the Transformers fandom again :) I've rewatched the series and I feel like a kid again. It's fun! I think my happiest fangirl moment has been seeing the cars used for Ironhide and Bumblebee (the concept Camaro) in person. I have pics too!

Giant talking robots just seemed really kewl, and my parents liked them, so they had no problem buying me the toys. I've always had a thing for cars (which got worse when my brother was born, because then we started collecting model/toy cars and stuff). I still liked playing with dolls just as much though.

Buy me Transformers figurines and model cars? Yes, though I buy most of them myself. My mom did ask me to buy Jazz, Blackout (I'm still looking for him), and Bonecrusher though, hehe. Her fav movie Transformer is Ratchet :b

Do they still watch Transformers stuff with me? Yes, and they love the movie :)

Im glad to see that there are some responsible parents out there (Moonbase 2). Im female and like stuff like TF and MOTU and I don't care what others think of me. But then I love MLP too (esp me unicorns). Im pretty girly but Im not a dress girl yet I love girly colours like pink and purple.

I think that Bratz is bad and no way in hell would I buy them for my kids.I do have neices that I buy for they get MLP and Winx Club stuff instead. Im also sad that a good actor like Jon Voight is in the Bratz movie. At least TF is a toyline based film with substance. I guess he had some big bills coming in.

Bratz had a cartoon show on FOX one time and in one of the episodes. The girls were talking about carbs. Winx Club I do have some reservations with because the charectors poses are almost seductive.
I still feel women's rights movement slip back 9 years when thease lyrics in the theme song comes over the tv speakers:
