is there really this much disdain for collectors who own KO's? jeezus... ill buy official versions over KO's any day, but i never thought less of those who bought them as the scum of the earth.
allllll of the arguements can be summed up in a few points:
-this KO exists because official stock is exhausted
-aftermarket costs of official versions are very high
-the KO is the price it is for the same reasons other 3rd party items are
-adding a trailer would drive the price up, probably past what people are willing to pay for a KO
people want a second chance to add this to their collection, for less than the price of their kidney. if they can get the KO, are satisfied with the quality and lack of a trailer... who cares? more power to ya.

and... i addressed that. its not available anymore so that point is moot.

Exactly. The cost differential is irrelevant if they're not available concurrently.

No, it's about the handful who pile hate on Takara and Hasbro, claim they're overpriced, and then go and buy KOs claiming they're a better deal than the original while in fact they cost the same or in cases like this even more.
This isn't about hating HasTak, it's about not wanting to spend $300. If I could buy the TRU Optimus at the original price right now, I would. Are they still available for that? No. If anyone wants to sell me theirs for the MSRP, I will Paypal them the money right now. Any takers? No? Well then. My options were spend $300, time travel back to when I could get it at TRU, and the KO. YOTH isn't even on that list. Time travel is more likely than my being satisfied with YOTH.

xyl360 wrote:I must say though, if it were me, it would totally be worth it to pay the $300 for it. In fact, I did pay $250 for my Takara MP-10 on BBTS for the original release and he was totally worth it, but I also get that that is a TON of cash to spend on a mass-release figure, especially when there is a KO of it that's available for substantially less money.
So basically what I'm saying is, I hope that the KO is of substantial quality and that you're able to easily score one because it is an epic mold and I don't think (again, assuming the QC is there) that you'll be disappointed at all. That figure is one of my favorites of all time. It's not just another Optimus Prime figure, it IS Optimus Prime!

refuses to buy? how about that 90% of the populace couldnt find the damn thing! and aftermarket prices were double retail right out of the gate.
you sit down any collector and say "ill sell you this official version with all accessories for $120, or this KO with no trailer for $120" no one would go for the KO.
the reason this KO exists is because the real one is no where to be found!
so dont act like everyone in the world had the option of buying the domestic TRU version and simply passed it up.
