I heard there are quite a few QC issues. which is weird since the whole point of this from the beginning is to fix MP-10's "Problems"?

read somewhere that someone is missing two of the front rubber tires? lol wth?

Can't wait for your review!

wow... i already own a TRU MP prime. but i clicked on this thread being curious of how the KO stacks up. and being an idiot i read all four pages...

is there really this much disdain for collectors who own KO's? jeezus... ill buy official versions over KO's any day, but i never thought less of those who bought them as the scum of the earth.

allllll of the arguements can be summed up in a few points:
-this KO exists because official stock is exhausted
-aftermarket costs of official versions are very high
-the KO is the price it is for the same reasons other 3rd party items are
-adding a trailer would drive the price up, probably past what people are willing to pay for a KO

people want a second chance to add this to their collection, for less than the price of their kidney. if they can get the KO, are satisfied with the quality and lack of a trailer... who cares? more power to ya.

It's not as cut & dry as your making it out to be.

This KO of MP-10 comes with less accessories & Cost more than the 2012 USA HasTak retail version. That's what mostly everyone is mocking.

Hardly nobody here has any HasTak loyalty moral issue like you suggested. Some who hate on KO's here. Do so because they've had previous QC issues with them.

Exactly. The cost differential is irrelevant if they're not available concurrently.

I'd love to see your attempts at a video review, but whichever format you feel will support your thoughts appropriately.

I'm interested in seeing how the colors stack up against official version, but more so regarding any looseness issues.

The mod being available in the wrong colors. A lot of people don't want gold instead of chrome. I am one of them so the KO was the only way to go.

Bingo. That's like saying that because Takara reissued Henkei Rodimus, that the KO of Henkei Wildrider should cost the same as retail. In these cases, what people are paying for is the particular variant they want, which does make a real difference, otherwise all those Botcon repaints wouldn't go for so much money when the original versions of those molds could be found for a fraction of the price.

Saying people should settle for YOTH is like saying that someone who wants Starscream should settle for Acid Storm because he's languishing of TRU shelves.

Same mold, right? What's the difference?

No, it's about the handful who pile hate on Takara and Hasbro, claim they're overpriced, and then go and buy KOs claiming they're a better deal than the original while in fact they cost the same or in cases like this even more.

My god, what is it with you people and claiming YOTH Optimus is a reissue of MP10? LOOK at it, does it look like a freaking reissue? Is it the exact same version as the original?

This isn't about hating HasTak, it's about not wanting to spend $300. If I could buy the TRU Optimus at the original price right now, I would. Are they still available for that? No. If anyone wants to sell me theirs for the MSRP, I will Paypal them the money right now. Any takers? No? Well then. My options were spend $300, time travel back to when I could get it at TRU, and the KO. YOTH isn't even on that list. Time travel is more likely than my being satisfied with YOTH.

I must say though, if it were me, it would totally be worth it to pay the $300 for it. In fact, I did pay $250 for my Takara MP-10 on BBTS for the original release and he was totally worth it, but I also get that that is a TON of cash to spend on a mass-release figure, especially when there is a KO of it that's available for substantially less money.

So basically what I'm saying is, I hope that the KO is of substantial quality and that you're able to easily score one because it is an epic mold and I don't think (again, assuming the QC is there) that you'll be disappointed at all. That figure is one of my favorites of all time. It's not just another Optimus Prime figure, it IS Optimus Prime :)!

^ 100% agree ^
if you can afford it, i would also still totally buy the legit MP prime. but as i said if you dont care, more power to ya.

whats funny, is i actually found a TRU MP prime, thus getting him for the amazing domestic retail price. after about a month of owning him, i noticed i lost one of his index fingers, nowhere to be found. since something like that would drive me nuts, i bought a loose one with no accessories off ebay totalling just over 100 bucks. just for an index finger. SO in the end, i still ended up spending close to 250 anyways.
(which apparently, i can finally laugh about now)

Again, this is not about you. What pisses me off are the ones who refuse to buy the originals when they come out because "they're overpriced", but happily spend more on a KO while claiming it's a better deal. You know, the ones who are smug about buying KOs.
That said, this is still overpriced, even taking after-market prices into account.

refuses to buy? how about that 90% of the populace couldnt find the damn thing! and aftermarket prices were double retail right out of the gate.

if any collector walked into a store and saw on the shelves, the official version with all accessories for $120, right next to the KO with no trailer for $120, then the KO would be a tough sale.

the reason this KO exists is because the real one is no where to be found!

so dont act like everyone in the world had the option of buying the domestic TRU version and simply passed it up.

you sit down any collector and say "ill sell you this official version with all accessories for $120, or this KO with no trailer for $120" no one would go for the KO.

the reason this KO exists is because the real one is no where to be found!

so dont act like everyone in the world had the option of buying the domestic TRU version and simply passed it up.

Oh please, I'm not acting like everyone got the chance of getting it domestically. It never hit Germany, so I went and acquired it from the UK, so I imported it like 95% of all of my collection. So don't you dare cry about having a difficult time finding one specific toy in a local store, some of us have to import even the shittiest little Scout, and that comes with shipping costs.

And my response to your general statement about the reaction to KOs was also in general and not specifically to this single KO. You claim you've read all the posts in this thread. So, tell me, what was my opinion on this KO before the price was revealed? Go on, you know, after all you've read them all.
And the ones who refuse to buy these, you see them popping up more often now when the pre-orders for new MPs pop up, and I wasn't going to state any names.
I've been on this board for so long, I've read so many posts by so many different people, and I see patterns. My opinion on KOs was formed over those years as a reaction to those posts, and my beef is with that specific kind of poster I see so often. And I stated in my post which kind of KO buyer annoys me.
Do you fit the bill?
No?
Then my reply about which kind of KO customer pisses me off wasn't directed at you, I simply told you which kind of KO customer I disliked.

I'm fine with KOs, just don't go sucking up to those who produce them, pile hate on HasTak and their customers, and act like they're a better deal than the originals. Because, a KO costing more than the original, but with less acessories does not cheaper make.

I actually had one in hand at TRU when they had 4 in stock and I passed. Im just not into MP scale. Granted I live in Miami, and not some small town in middle America. But in my travels to the Phillippines, I could see how online shopping may not be an option for the lower class who usually only make cash purchases. I can understand why high quality KO's would be hot in small markets located in rural areas. For us high quality KO's are a means to save a few bucks. For them, high quality KO's are the real deal. They might not even know who Hasbro is in some parts of Asia. But they know who Optimus Prime is...
