Kinda intrigued that this wants to improve upon the original.
I may pick one of these up should it get released in Diaclone colours and be cheap.

Although I do support 3rd Parties generally, and I am intrigued by these improvements, I am dismayed by this.

Sigh.

Original mold issues? Does MP-10 really have so many issues?
Where the issues only on the first Takara mold or with the retail Hasbro/TrU releases also? :???:

The only real issues my TRU Prime has are the chest screws scraping, index fingers falls off when posed (sometimes), the black matrix lid IS difficult to open, and he does have that black hole behind the translucent yellow groin.

I removed the chest screws (there's really no functional reason for them to be there - the chest is still solid as a rock), I'm careful when I pose the index fingers, and the lid/black hole don't bother me.

So... >:oP

Okay, we need some pre-order listings or links please folk! ;)

I am sooo in the need of an MP-10 as I missed the fairly short term when Toys 'R' Us UK had them in stock, so if the price is right, Im game! :D

I thought this MP-10 was being KOed by the same people behind the KO MP Grimlock, Collection Kingdom, if so then arent they producing their own artwork/packaging as per KO Grimmy? :-?

KO and roll out!

well we're off to a great start by basically taking away most of the accessories. Maybe next they can paint it black and shell it out for the exact same price as the whole package

1. eye opacity

Don't really understand this myself, the American version just used a brighter shade of blue and that works well enough.

2. chest screws scraping

I... don't understand this one at all. is there something I'm missing?

3. loose fuel tank

Loose? Try mega tight!

4. index finger falling off

Yeah that's a bit annoying, but I'd rather it fall off than snap off.

5. uneven chest

Image
Good job fixing that >:oP

6. black lid for matix difficult to open

It is, but given that the Matrix sits in there tenuously I'll live with keeping it sealed.

7. legs closing together

I don't understand this one either :-(

8. wipers scraping

Scraping what?

9. stress marks on legs

What stress marks?

10. black hole behind transparent yellow on the crotch

If you're staring at his crotch long enough for something like that to bother you... what're you doing?!

11. sprue marks

Unavoidable hallmark of mass produced toylines. Apart from which I hardly notice them.

I'm still not convinced MP-10 was worth the asking price, even after I got the clerk to bring it down by scanning the shipping box, but I begrudgingly accept that it's not a horrible rendition of the big OP to own, at least compared to that oversized stack of bricks the previous MP Prime was. Still, I feel like a KO of this particular MP is a waste of time and effort over more recent desirables like one certain casseticon. Plus like any rendition of the old g1 leader he'll probably get re-issued over and over again anyway.

A lot of these were issues with the TRU version - the screws behind the chest windows scratching the chrome matrix cover, legs not tabbing together all the way, and loose fuel tanks (in addition to things that occur on both versions, like the finger falling off, or the hole in his crotch).

I don't think we need this KO, but you're really coming down hard on MP-10 for no particular reason. If you're all debbie downer on MP-10, don't buy MP-10. Sheesh.

Doing a KO of MP-10 & fixing tiny things hardly anyone notices just seems wasteful.

I'd prefer KO or 3rd party companies actually fixed some HasTak TF toys that really needed major fixes. Like doing a KO of 2005 Cybertron Leader sized Galvatron. doing major fixes like giving the toy a waist joint, ball jointed head. different hands that have articulated fingers & rotate wrist. new thighs that had a swivel rotate joint. Ball jointed ankles.

Rotf Leader Scale Megatron needs a newer tank turrent arm with more articulation in it. I'd like to see a 3rd party company create a replacements parts kit for this toy. As it desperately needs one.

But I have the TRU version, and as I mentioned I haven't really had most of the problems listed, and again... you have some strange habits if noticing a hole behind his crotch plate bothers you.

Debbie downer? That phrase sounds older than my grandma...
Also, I feel I'm quite fair on MP-10 given that I did buy it and I do like it, I just think it's a bit overpriced for what you get. I do admit I hold something of a double standard though, as I thought it was the best looking MP back when it was released and I was dubious of the price even then, but now I have MP Soundwave and I think he was well worth the price even though he's a lot simpler.

I, and many others I imagine, are just detail oriented. The hole in the crotch doesn't really bother me, but I can't say I don't notice it. :P

The Takara version is overpriced, certainly - especially the reissue. But, I do like the colors a whole lot better (except for the eyes, but I'll be swapping those with the YOTH version I get). The TRU version, even at $120, was a bit high but not awful. I was more offended at TRU's shameless price hike than the final price.

Anyone saying we don't need a KO of MP-10 clearly doesn't have to face paying the current prices. I wasn't one of the six people who found it in TRU so my only option has been in the $300+ range. I do have MP-10B Nemesis Prime and the chest is uneven and while the KO may have a gap at the top, at least it's symmetrical. And the "wiper" problem is probably about the side mirrors, not the actual wipers.

Now who do I throw my money at to get one of these?

I really hate beating a dead horse, and I'm also not looking to pick an argument, so I shall say my piece and be done with it... but I have to take issue with your choice of words.

zodconvoy wrote:Anyone saying we don't need a KO of MP-10 clearly doesn't have to face paying the current prices.

Why do you need a KO of MP-10 exactly? Is someone holding your family hostage, threatening to kill them unless you deliver an MP-10 and within a certain budget? Or perhaps you have discovered a way to cure a deadly disease or feed the hungry with an MP-10? I'm at a loss to know why your absolute need of it is so great, that you must have one even if you have to resort to paying for stolen goods? (Okay, they didn't steal the physical toys, but it is an IP theft.)

Or is it just that you want one, didn't have the good fortune to find one when it was available for sale (I never saw one in person either, but had no trouble finding one at TRU.com when they were for sale), and can't be bothered to pay the after market prices for them?

Well, sucks to be you. And if you want to resort to the less then kosher route of getting a knocked off product, don't say things such as, "I need it!" or "I deserve it!" Because it isn't true. Owning a toy or collectable is not an entitlement. You aren't owed anything by Hasbro. Your life is not dependent on it, and you will survive just fine if you never have it. If you missed it while it was in retail, or if you couldn't afford it, yeah, that sucks. But the world will not come crashing to an end because you didn't get that one toy.

And if some unscrupulous thieves knock off the product you want, and you decide to buy that, that's your business. But be honest. Just say, "I want this, so I'm gonna buy it." Do not say, "I need this." Because no, you don't.

Yawn...for a second I thought the pope was delivering a speech about world peace. You want to know what makes KOs so awesome ? Ill tell you brother...its the thrill of getting the same thing at half the price and having some extra cash in your pocket. The other day I had to replace a bad headlight bulb in my truck. Do you think I went to the dealer and paid around $100 for them to replace it with an official chevy bulb installed by an official licensed chevy technician ? HELL NO !!! I went to the nearest Advance Auto Parts and bought a KO bulb for 15 bucks and installed it myself. Granted, im no mechanic, but with the money I saved I could probally buy an MP-10. I actually had the official one in my hands at TRU (they had 5 of them) but Im not into MP scale so I didnt need it for what hasbro says its worth. But at $75-80 bucks with a trailer, I might be a buyer just to throw it on the coffee table for beer nights.

Gm specifically designs their vehicles with a number of non proprietary parts, actually giving you the option to not use their parts. Not to mention that after you have purchased the car it's yours, what you then do with it is your business.

You really have no idea how patents, trademarks, or copyrights work do you?

No need to get desperate & buy the KO MP-10. MP-10 recently got a reissue in America for $119. Its being sold at TRU & BBTS.

MP-10 was priced low at USA TRU stores. $119 was a low price for what buyers got.

I doubt the KO MP-10 will be half the price of TRU's MP-10 USA version.
The KO version is not going to sell for $70-80 or under. The KO MP-10 price will be close to the $119 price maybe $100.

If you don't like KO's then why are you in this thread.
Other than borderline trolling.

You really have no idea how patents, trademarks, or copyrights work do you?

All I know is the official part exists for alot more and I saved plenty of money with the KO. Another great example of bucking the system is refilling printer cartridges. HP hates that ****. But who cares ? I dont own stock in HP, Chevy, or Hasbro. Im not the most ethical person in the world. But when did David ever care about Goliaths best interests ?

HP might hate it, but that doesn't change it's legality. I also don't get what a man fighting to save his people has to do with you saving money, his purpose was selfless while yours is selfish.

I used to have to go to a mom and pop store ten miles away to get my printer cartridges refilled, but now I can go to walgreens and get them "legally" refilled in plain sight. I guess HP lost that battle and refilling is as big a business as new cartridges themselves. Now if that isnt sticking it to big business, than what is ? But since you want to get all technical about my david and Goliath reference, Ill explain. I was only referring to the little man (me) taking a swing at the giant (hasbro) by saving big bucks on KOs. Who was good or evil in the actual biblical tale is irrelevant to my comparrison.
