I apologize, but I did not follow everything AZ said.

I am hesitant to level up to 5 because I am concerned that Galvatron Supreme and Name Violation collectively will not have enough L5 bots AND play as often as I do in order to keep my bots busy in the arena. If all three of us can put 4 into the arena at the same time, it should work out well, since we all are members of different factions and can compete against each other.

Otherwise, my bots will sit idle, as there are no missions for them to compete in.

I don't understand the %win argument. That is pretty much a useless metric as far as I am concerned. I never cared or payed attention to my %win. I am much more concerned about earning XP.

If all three of you make 4, then someone's going to likely be left out in the cold waiting for a longer period of time.

While I think GS isn't playing as much, NV is playing all the time, and usually waiting for a while in the arena at level 4, so I'm pretty sure the wait time, even with all 3 of you making 4, would end up being about the same anyway.

some days i time out waiting like 3 or 4 times with the same character. so either there is a conspiracy to avoid me, or people just stoppped playing.

also after toying with some builds, the only thing i could do at level 5 is the same 10 str ramfest i'm getting bored with. hell i just made a char to purposfully lose i'm so bored..

I actually have not been playing as much the last couple of days. My business has been moving into a new office. My house is getting some work done. My wife and I are having a baby in 5 weeks.

I should now be able to play as much as I normally do. You should not have to wait in the arena that long.

I'll be surprised if anybody other than the top 3 has the xp for level 5s, there's a big xp gap between 3rd and 4th. I know the vast majority of my team is just above or bellow level 4, no where near level 5. And Dreadspawn, who possibly could make level 5 (although Im doutbful), has an alt I cant replace, and Im not fast tracking him for the sake of getting his ass handed to him by those with far more xp, he's only just stopped doing that with level 4s...

i did the math on my chars. i could make a level 5 out of my top 3 or 4, but they'd be weak as hell, 'specially compaired to what RoS could do.

so yeah... bad math on my part

There would be a gap, yes, but it would not be that wide. My extra XP would translate into roughly 3 or 4 upgrades at L5. My bots would not quite be mid level L5s. This is because I would only upgrade where it actually would produce a meaningful result. Even if I give them firepower or skill, it would not be enough to allow them to have weapons that are stronger than a 10 level punch/kick. I would just be upgrading their speed, courage, and endurance. Which, is roughly 512K per upgrade. That eats into my extra XP really quick.

But yes, they would indeed have better stats and there would be a gap.

To Galvatron Supreme and Name Violation:

Let's level up to L5 and fight in the arena. I think we are discouraging the lower level L4 bots/cons, as we are maxed out at L4 and are easily defeating them in the arena. They are loosing energon and cannot keep up.

Yes, I will have a 3 or possibly 4 upgrade point advantage over you two and yes, statistically I will have a higher number of wins. But, we are just too powerful at L4, making it VERY hard for them to advance.

I wish the HMW2 efforts all of the best, but there are always circumstances that are beyond the control of a single developer (MP) that may significantly delay HMW2's completion. There is still the possibility that HMW1 might continue for a long while. I think we can help this game and still advance our teams by moving up to L5.

I have 4 bots that can do this at any time.

Thoughts?

actually if we stop making 10 str ram builds we're still fair fights. Like Alpha extreme is a really weak 4 (thought 10 fpr 8 strafe 8 courage would work better), but was maxed out as a rammer and now i have 10 upgrades till 5 with his current build.

I wanna hear from gs. I can only stand fightin your bots for so long :P

while i am bored at level 4, i got the best of both worlds bein able to fight bots and cons. but even with the extra mill xp Col mustard is sittin on, he won't get too far in upgrades.

I'll think it over, but seriously just the 3 of us (and gs is semi retired) will be harsh. I think we'll average the same (double the xp, half the battles), but you've deffinately got the advantage. I think you losing is theoretically discougaging enough to make me not want to. Not that i'm against trying, but i doubt i'd ever win, and then my xp intake would go down faster than A fangirl on starscream

I really want you three to go up to level 5, then my (patheticly low) level 4s might find someone who wont shaft them almost constantly.

I believe they set the amount of energon you win in the arena to a lower level than it was before the great crash of 2008. You used to be able to lose a lot and still earn energon slowly.

As I said in other posts, I will try to fight only NV and GS in the arena. I will make mistakes (as I just did about 5 minutes ago) and accidentally send a bot against a week L4. I sometimes get into a hurry while using my iPhone and blindly send all of my bots into the arena.

I am going to amend my statement and still send Alpha Sentinel to fight any L4. He is a strafer and therefor does not exploit the ram game imbalance. In the next week or so I am going to reset him and he will be a mid level L4.

I would be willing to upgrade 2 or 3 to level 5 if you guys will do the same. Although I tend to agree with NV in that we will just get slaughtered by RoS.

In the meantime, I have been trying to throw my guys into missions whenever they are available in order to not excercise unfair advantages in the arena.

As you noted, I am semi-retired so I mostly just throw my guys in the arena during work hours out of habit more than anything else. So I'm sorry I haven't really been following the forums much at all lately. :-(

If anybody wants to reach me, the best way is by PM.

Just let me know if you want to do it. My guys will have about a 3 or so upgrade advantage, which will result a win ratio that is over 50 percent, but I doubt it will be a slaughter.

I have been putting my bots in missions as well, but that has actually resulted in fewer bouts with GS and NV. If there are weaker cons/preds in the waiting queue ahead of GS or NV, then my bots go into missions, forcing GS and NV to wait longer in the queue. In the past I would put my bots in the arena, they would smash the weaker L4s who were at the top of the queue, and then they would quickly recover in time to fight GS or NV. I did not realize this resulted in a sustained energon loss for the weaker L4s. I thought the weaker L4s would still slowly gain XP and eventually close the upgrade gap, since the stronger L4s have reached an upgrade ceiling. Although that is true, if they are losing energon in the process then it does not work. I apologize for not realizing this. I would give you preds and cons some extra energon, but apparently the game does not allow it.

GS has the option to fight it out with me in missions. However, I think this sucks for NV, as I don't get the impression there are enough pred vs. con and pred vs. autobot missions to give him a viable alternative to the arena.

Right, I have discovered that, in order not to pick on the weaker L4 cons, I am sending my bots into missions more. I noticed this was causing you to wait much longer in the arena than before.

I suppose we could agree to an upgrade limit or something like that at L5. We initially set the number of upgrades to 41 (the minimum for L5) and do that for a while. That way anyone who comes out ahead does so because he optimized his stats better and not because he (in this case me) had more upgrades.

Just an idea...

Name_Violation wrote:if its the 3 of us i fear i'll hardly get a fight.

Well, like GS said: I play 24/7 so it is more likely that I will be the one waiting and not getting a fight. ;)

OK, one last idea before we take this to PM. Feel free to trash it, as I have not put that much thought into it:

What if SPL3 were to take place at L5? Psychout gives everyone's chosen bot enough XP for a mid level L5 build (or maybe a max level L5). NV, GS, and I would have our SPL3 candidates AND our other bots who are capable of making L5 on our own. Only our designated SPL3 candidate could compete for any prize (Supercruise in my case) while our other L5 bots would just fight other players in the arena.

The arena would always be full, giving us lots of opponents.

Thoughts?

We toyed with the idea of dropping everyone to level 5 as Action Masters.

I'm not sure if Psychout has any plans for SPL to continue, we (him more so) are going flat out for HMW2. Heck, if you have spare time take a look at the alt mode thread. You can help make them or even just submit some to be made!

I don't think level 5 SPL would be all that great simply because everybody's builds would be the same...even more so than what they are now, everybody would have 10str and 10 end....probably 8 spd...etc :P
