I had a really bad start to the morning today. So, I figured to cheer myself up, or someone else up, I would share the cover to the SPECIAL BOTCON CONBOT SPECIAL.
That will be an 8 page 'zine I'll be handing out at Botcon. But I won't have a lot of them. If you are there and don't see me or I run out (heaven forbid, right?), I will most certainly share a PDF or jpg of the whole thing.
BUT it's not that big a deal. Here's the breakdown: 1 - cover 2 - fake letter 3 - interview with Mairghread Scott 4 - interview with Brian Shearer (IDW inker) 5 - interview with Emily McBryan (NASA engineer who works on real robots) 6 - fake album & book reviews 7 - crossword puzzle 8 - fake classifieds & some contact info.
So, there. In case any of you are wondering where the interview with Buster the dog is.
You know, I feel a bit silly...but I haven't been clicking on these because I thought they were real (and I'm not caught up on the comics). But now it turns out that they are just really well done.
And now I feel like there is a mystery as to which 'bot is putting these together...
That's the nicest comment I've gotten about these.
In my opinion, #15 is the first post-Dark Cybertron issue. By then someone with a more tabloid sensibility got their hands on it.
But for the first dozen or so issues were probably done on the fly by Huffer, Gears, and Brawn. I just imagine them huddled around the Lost Light photocopier with scissors and printouts from Rewind. They thought they'd end up being the troublemakers only to discover they're trapped on a ship with a bunch of crazy people, so they made a little 'zine to circulate among some of the other less crazy bots. Then they got busted and were read the Tyrest act about wasting copier ink or something to that effect.
One of the letters in the Botcon Conbot special is from Huffer criticizing the LLI's decoration advice. -RwC Paul
A PDF & 300dpi jpgs of the 8 page special as described in the above post will be available during Botcon, and yes I'll share them here. I'll have them listed as single pages, and as combined pages if you want to print the whole thing out on two 8.5"x11" pages so you can recreate the experience for yourself.
(But like I said, three pages are interviews from the RwC fb page. So, you know, nothing to knock yourself out of.) -RwC Paul.
