I think we are starting to see the start of something I predicted would occur. The point where knowledge of the game will start to prove more valubale then just sheer time. No offense but alot of these new players who used the reset to climb to the top have no experience in builds beyond lvl2.

Of course i'm sure this will just be blown off as i'm not even in the top 50 and don't have a single lvl2 so what do i know ah well.

Admitedly, I have a HELL of a lot more knoladage of the game than I did last time I was lvl 2, but I am sure the xp gained at this level is much better than it was last time round.

To the contrary. You're one of the decent vets who actually values the game and welcomes new-blood into it to expand the game, and offers advice/guidance to newer players like myself. In fact, you WERE the first to reach out to me when I began playing and provided me with both suggestions and energon when I needed it.

In fact, that's my whole "beef" with some of the vets: If they spent time helping new people as opposed to attacking them, the game will grow and fill with more knowledgeable and capable players.

I did a poor job explaining myself: It's a very select few vets that I am referring to. Not vets as a whole. I shouldn't have cast such a wide net. :-(

I'm just waiting for someone to laugh at me and go "hahaha I reached level x faster than you did".

Which is well .... DUH! By the time it took me to reach level 4 our tactics still didn't count towards levelling up. So it took a significantly longer time to level up.

Plus we didn't have so many multi-tactic alts to choose from either.

Oh wait, better shut up, wouldn't want to be accused of whining about missing the old days now!
Though if it wasn't for old timers like me our tactics wouldn't count towards levelling and we'd all be scraping into level 1.

And this is by "beef" with some of the new players.

They're too **** ignorant to see help when it's being given to them, or don't appreciate it because it's not what they want to hear.

Or just plain don't ask and then get pissy at the "vets" because they think help should be automatic.

Whatever the case, it's a two-sided thing. Not as one-sided as you like to think GS.

Oh hell, while we're on it. You want to know what my real problem is with you?

You want to talk about disrespect?

DISRESPECT IS STARTING A TOURNAMENT IN THE MIDDLE OF SOMEONE ELSES!

Yeah that's what you did GS. I was running a little contest which YOU were competing in. You know that little contest you also decided to stop playing because you'd done enough to win it and chose not to continue?

What did you do then? You turned around and started your own. That's **** disrespectful dude. A lot of us spent many years building a tournament structure and you just strolled in and pissed all over it.

So yeah, learn how things work around here, ask questions if you want, but don't you **** sit there crying about how you're not getting respected because it's a two way street.

And as I said, if you have a problem with someone try pming them to discuss it with them instead of hiding behind this whole "I only have a problem with a select few vets" crap.

Following Redimus' point.

Pre-Ike my personal highest ranking as a commander was in the 50s at best. After 4-5 years of off and on playing. Highest rank I ever had a character was 281. Did not reach 1 million XP until about 3-4 months in. Did not reach level 2 until 6 months.

Post-Ike current rank is 30. Number 3 Predacon overall. Top character is ranked 290, and I'll reach 1 million XP in about 5 weeks play time from when I started. Given that I started atleast a week after everyone in the top fifty, I think I'm doing pretty well. If I had started sooner and been a Con, I could have even been number 1. Who knows.

What ifs don't count. GS is number 1. He's worked for it. He's earned it. He should be given respect for it.

The vets deserve respect for the things they've contributed to this game that goes far beyond XP earned. Without the vets, we'd still have only two factions, a horribly high amount of Autobots with only marginally higher Decepticons. Some of the alt modes would still really broken (1k avoid/1k strafe anyone?), weapons would be retarded. And no one would want to bring the robot modes back, because the vets were the ones who asked for them. All those pretty rorschachs would not exist, and there would be no alts that where not taken from a Transformer in the game. No star wars, star trek, gi joe, ect. There would be no option for Auto CR. All missions would have a 45 minute start time.

And its interesting that people lament the vets, calling them old timers as a derogatory term, simply for saying "I remember when I did that." or "I used to be able to do that. I used to be able to do this." Or even "Think that's impressive, once I did this. [implying that is something to look forward to]." I mean, really, would you tell your grandparents to **** off when they talk about their past? This is exactly why the newbies do not deserve respect. They don't want to respect those who came before them.

So, my suggestion is for you all to stop whining about competition and actually compete. So far, with the exception of a few of you, us "noobs" have seen nothing even close to a challenge from most of the vets.

Spoiler: I'm a "n00b" and I find you to be an arrogant prat suffering from the worst case of unwarranted self importance I've ever seen in my life. You do realize that eventually someone's going to overtake you right? And I'm willing to bet you're going to get 10 different kinds of butthurt about it. Maybe not on the boards but definitely inwardly.

Galvatron Supreme wrote:This thread is a perfect example: I asked a simple question and then you found it nescessary to shred me to pieces over it. Are these the actions of somebody deserving of respect? lol

No. See what you did was arrogantly assume that the XP code was broken because you weren't earning what you used to. Because, of course, that's the only way that'd happen to you. I mean, you're awesome, and if you're not scoring as much as you used to it can't possibly be your performance and the performance of others. Nope, The Game (you just lost) MUST be broken. That's the only logical explanation.

I only stopped playing yours because nobody else was playing it anymore. In fact, I didn't start mine until after you yorself acknowleded that nobody was playing yours anymore. It's a great idea for a tourney, but, there was no sense continuing when I was only competing against myself. I didn't start one to replace yours.

My apologies if it offended you or was disrespectful. That was certainly not my intention.

This s why we usually have run-in times. Announcing a tournament usually takes place a week or two before it actually runs, which means that they only ever clash in bizarre Elseworlds scenarios.

I dont know anything about this, but even if someone has taken an unasailable lead, and the orginiser admits it's a forgon conclusion, you should always let it run it's course, cuase some people arnt just playing to win, they are playing to achive their best. I know there have been tournies and hunts, where work has stopped me from competing to the extent I want to, but that dosnt stop me having a damn good time doing the best I can.

ummmm no. You declared your intention to start your little tournament BEFORE I announced that I was giving up on mine.

I asked if people were still playing it, got no real response, at which point your made your intentions to start your tournament in a time frame that WOULD have clashed with mine.

It was at that point in time that I decided to end mine due to lack of interest. But mostly because I found your actions to be completely and utterly disrespectful, to myself, and to the tournament/contest foundations that we'd spent a long time building.

Don't believe me? Go back and look at the threads and the time stamps.

Yea, I just went and read the threads. The tourney was dead before I started mine. (even though you didn't declare it so) I am glad to have gone back and read your thread though. It only affirmed what I thought: The people that quit only quit because they didn't want to try and compete against me.

Is this the way things used to be? People would just quit as opposed to trying to compete in things that they felt overmatched in?

Your tourney was a great idea. That's why I participated. I'd be happy to make it up to you by kicking in prize money so you could restart it.

Apparently, you have to incentivize things here in order to have participation, which is just SAD.

You do realise that entire thread was intended to create a fun rivallry right?

Indeed, I do.

So why trash it then? I'm no vet, or at least not a high ranker, but I had significant time as a Bot before Ike; I was on a work/school/sweet Jesus we're having a baby! break and came back to find the whole thing went *poop*. So, to shoot straight, something is seriously off with how you're being perceived if you're not an arrogant Image, because it how you sound. Or at least, you sound like you're trying to hard NOT be and therefore coming across horribly wrong.

Burn? Sarcastic rude bastard, but he knows his stuff and is always happy to tell you.
Tammuz? There isnt a person in the game who hanst learnt something from her.
Jeep?? If he knew anything worth knowing about playing the game, I'm sure he'd offer it! :P

First, fixxed the gender :P. Second, Burn was one of the few Cons (when he was still Level Gajillion) who accepted some toe-to-toe trash talk with little Level 0-1 Bot me. It would have gone great on my side if a link to a lil' former image mocking decepticon leadership hadn't epically failed. The probability of that even registering in his memory is slim (due to old age or jumbling too much trash over the years) but the fact that he treated me like everyone else (I had a chance to participate in the pissing contest) was appreciated and showed a certain level of, quality Image.

So, as I see Burn posting some brutal stuff in response to initially playful mockery taken horribly wrong, we need to call this insanity done and over and get back to standard trash. Perhaps we should have a "role-remove-from-butt" tournament just to "clear the air".
Assuming Burn can keep the gas in his pants for that long....

There's too much drama in this thread. This thread is now about the greatest 2D fighting game ever made and why trash talking is vitally important to the experience.

Where yo Curleh Mustache at?

Is Mahvel Baybee!

Yeah this is what we call an "analogy".

NSFW for language.

It's best to assume every link I post is NSFW, and every post I make is just me taking the piss.

it wasn't worded that way and Alex certainly didn't read it that way (being a proud sing and all.)

His name's seriously Alex? LULZ! That's even moar reason for him to be Agent X when he loses. And I don't need to pick and choose how I word things. It's the internet. This is a game. It's not meant to be taken seriously. And trash talking is part of any competitive game.
