Looks like it is designed to fit in with FP Bruticus and Superion.

Stake sauce, baby, stake sauce!!!!!!! Sorry, I didn't catch this earlier. Like I said in another post, I'm not knocking TFC. I just like this one better.

This. A million times this. This is the Devastator I've been waiting for. Maketoys had the support of Fansprojects at Botcon so to me quality and price are a nonissue. This it the Devastator that's replacing the Classics one on my shelf. Next, Stunticons and Protectobots and I'm practically done.

Maybe I'll give my nephew my Classics Devastator once I have this.

I agree.

I wasn't a fan of the other 3RD Party not-Devestator toy called Hercules. because the individual robot looked like they were deluxe or voyager sized. the combined form had to of been over 22 inches tall.
THE THING IS I'M NOT A FAN OF OVER SIZED TOY VERSIONS in how they relate to the original toys or media versions.

FROM MY perspective,a 3rd party not-devestator should have individual robots that are basic sized. and the combined form that is energon 5-in-1 sized.

Exactly! I never wanted a to scale Devastator not even as a kid! If I want him to be huge, I'll have him up against all of my Legends, WST and Minicons!

Oh, and as far as Maketoys site goes, I'm glad I can bookmark through Babblefish!

What gets me is that just cause TFC hasnt shown the the last two doesnt mean that they havent made them or done 3d renders of them. Or how can we not see what it will look like all its missing is one leg and arm but they have stand ins to show how tall it is.The make toys Devastator is great but thier not showing the head and that isnt stoping me from wanting it. What will make want one over the other is if the maketoys devy can do more with his arms then up and down ( like go side ways cause it dont look like it can do that)

Try to maintain perspective, and not let this forum turn into a panic attack. Let it play out. If you are invested in TFC Devy, all you can do is wait for their inevitable response. Honestly, if they have any concern for the loss of potential/future clientele, they will rest their audience collective concerns at ease. If there is a a plan to go back to the drawing board (and rescale the design in lieu of price wars) or, worse case scenario, tuck tail on the project, refunds will be given by the retail outlet at risk of bad publicity within the fandom. Until all cards are shown, embrace the level of power we, as a collective, have when it comes to 3P competition over our hard earned dollars. I know it has nothing to do with them, but when FansProject coined the motto: "For Fans By Fans" - they gave us something more than just the toys (and I'll leave that up to your own interpretation). We must utilize this gift.

Sure, if you have a preorder in and the store never gets the product to send to you, you'll be refunded. But if they get 3 figs in and then TFC goes under or jumps ship on the project...sorry, but you bought and received 3 figures. You're now stuck with half a not-Devastator set. The only thing you're getting back then is whatever you can sell them for, and if it's only half a set, it's not going to be all that close to what you paid.

I think the fact that TFC is, at least, looking into other combiners is a good sign that they'll finish Hercules. After all, if they can't finish their first one nobody will buy anything like it from them ever again.

I don't think they're finished making the prototypes for the other two limbs. And that's okay. I say do it right, not fast. They've already finished 4 prototypes, so there's only a couple more to go.

I also don't think Maketoys will release their Devy as one, huge, set. Aren't they releasing the minibots in a set of two? Why wouldn't they do that with the Constructicons?

Because if they can offer the entire set before TFC releases even half of theirs, they have a lot more potential customers. If they both finish about the same time, there are a lot more people content with only getting one or the other.

But that doesn't necessitate the offering of one, entire, set all at the same time. $300 is still a hefty pill to swallow for most. $50 or $100 in staggered releases isn't quite so bad.

Also, they have that minibot line they want to sell as well. So it's not just Devestator in the mix.

Goes both ways...I personally find it much more attractive if it's released all in one shot. Then you don't have to worry about stupid crap like them going under or half-assing the last figs, Has/Tak trying to put their foot down, your fave store deciding to stop offering it part way through, or simply having to wait forever to complete your damn figure...especially if it's available 6 months before TFC's is "planned" to be done. And I never understood why if people are so worried about paying staggered rather than all at once, why they'd want to pay shipping 3 or 6 times. Right...BBTS POL...whose base price is more than other places shipped price. Again, if cost is so concerning, why are you paying more with BBTS? Put it on a credit card and stagger your own payments (not you specifically, but the all encompassing 'you'.) The interest probably isn't going to be more than the added shipping.

Like I said before, getting excited about one gigantic release is just assuming too much. Maybe that's what they'll do ... I tend to doubt it ... but I think it's just taking assumptions too far.

When they announce prices and a release plan, then I'll agree to get excited about whatever strategy they'll wind up using.

They just released enough information to throw a spanner into the works of TFC's release (and thus prevent the fandom from committing to a competing product), I think they are a while away from any release of their own.

It is really sad to see two fan groups like this opposing one another for the rather small and fickle TF fan market. It is a pity they just didn't work together to make the best Devastator possible for everyone.

Well, just likea lot of people I guess seeing this just made it far harder to wrestle my conscienece into submission over the stupid price of the TFC product. Paying $50ish for a Fansproject is rich enough for my blood (and that's FansProject, the apex of 3rdP) so I knew sticking to my nerve over paying $100+ per piece of this was going to be tough and MakeToy come along and solve the problem for me. Sorry BBTS, your available stack just went up by 1......

Not aimed at you, necessarily, Kibble, just the best single quote I could find with regards to the size discussion.

Definitely larger than FP Bruticus:

The one arm's length is nearly the height of the Classics Devy's entire combined mode.

Whoe. How do you check BBTS's stock??

Really debating which to get after all the chatter.

I AM really sold on Devastator being massive (though Maketoys being in scale with the FansProject set is a HUGE selling point.) The Exgraver version has left a bad taste in my mouth how different these are from the G1 sculpts.

I think if anything can be learned from Classics/United... most of us are pretty okay with a change in transformation, so long as the overall impression is roughly the same — especially the head and chest. I think we can take some fudging on the arms, legs, back. BUT these are missing the mark on both of those counts. Different head sculpts makes me want the Maketoys version.

It's almost like they're a FOURTH set of constructicon characters (in addition to the original 6, Energon 5, and the Powercore 5). EDIT (yeah, I'm forgetting the movie. intentional?)

Given, I might still get both. Honestly they BOTH do look amazing. Great articulation and design. One has size on its side, the other being more G1 accurate.
