I'm only upset because A, Redhead just doesn't work the same way on black people. Not in a bad way, just in a matter-of-fact way, and B...redheads are really my thang. So mostly the redhead thing.

I was mildly outraged in a "oh here go, race/gender swapping for political correctness again".

Soon after I just resigned myself to the fact that they'd rather take existing characters and change their race/gender because it's easier than creating and establishing new characters.

They should've made Felicia Hardy black. Mary Jane just sounds soooooo so white.

Of course, then they'd run into problems with calling her Black Cat.

I understand the why, I just wish that sometimes people would respect some classic things. I mean, when I think of MJ I always think about a slim, pale, freckled redheaded teen beauty. It just bugs me when they mess around with characters that have such a definitive image and look about them (yes, based on their race, but you know what I mean).

James gunn has been arguing about this on twitter with all the twitter trolls, defending the actress. He said where was all the outrage over dead shot and nick fury becoming black. Another user piped up with a comment saying that everyone was up in arms with this when gods of Egypt had white guys playing egyptians and they were fine with it.

Oh and madeus depending on the media, mj doesn't have freckles.

There is no need to argue about Nick Fury. Marvel created the Ultimate universe which was a completely fresh take on the existing universe, it was a re-imagining, BUT, the classic characters/looks continued on in the main universe.

Do they remember the race swap with Johnny Storm and how well THAT movie turned out?

Develop characters. They're doing it with T'challa. Why not others?

Black Nick was definitely a grandfather clause; it was established long before this sort of thing became controversial, and under the agreement that Samuel L Jackson would get to play the character.

Because it's so much more "progressive" to shoehorn new characters who aren't white males into pre-existing titles rather than giving them something new. (Though I'm giving Simon Baz the same pass we all gave John Stewart; as well as Carol Danvers for just being all-around superior to Mar-Vell)

Add in the fact that Sammy L could literally be cast as any single character and the world would be okay with it. Like, pick a reboot, put him in as a recast for any character that isn't the main character, and think about whether or not you'd enjoy it. Not to mention, the non-nerd world had no idea who Nick Fury was, whereas Mary Jane Watson is a more known character because of being associated with Spider-Man.

I just watched episode 1 of season 4 of Agents Of Shield & it was actually pretty good

Ghostrider looked amazing(although i'll still have to get used to him riding around in a dodge charger instead of on a flaming hellcycle)

dunno what those whispy things were once the chinese guys opened the box(seemed similar to what came out of the ark in Indiana Jones) nor who that mysterious ghost girl was?

Anyone else finding Luke Cage boring? i've watched a few eps & find it really slow....Jessica Jones slow! dunno whether to bother watch the rest of it or not

If you found Jessica Jones slow, you missed the point if the series.

Finished Luke Cage last week. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, though the tone shift halfway through wasa bit odd. Still a damn fine show.

Question for those in the know : Is Agents of SHIELD still decent? I kinda fell off at the half season mark on season 2. It was going great guns at that point but real life got in the way. Is it worth putting back into my watch rotation?

I wouldn't say it's changed much so if you weren't enjoying it then, I doubt you'll enjoy it now. I think Marvel splitting the movie and TV departments and subsequent stalling of The Inhumans movie has probably hurt the show.

That's because the most recent Ghost Rider in the comics, Robbie Reyes, drives a Dodge Charger (Or something intentionally similar) instead of a motorcycle.

Might just have to catch up then as I was enjoying it when I was watching it. Just other stuff got in the way and when it picked up again after the season 2 mid season break, I simply forgot to get back to it.
