As I've continued looking and soaking it all in, the torso proportions don't bother me anymore.
I will say the top of the torso looking so puzzle-like, while not a deal-breaker, is going to be quite noticeable all of the time unless you have this figure displayed on a shelf above eye-level.
I would think the price tag will be < $200, hopefully around $180.
This is more motivation for me to resist buying TR figures that I'm kinda "mehhh" about.
As far as moving towards a more cartoon-looking aesthetic with the MP line,
I wouldn't doubt if it's simply a matter of $$$$. Less details have to mean lower cost.
And while you wouldn't assume it would be that much more, it just mirrors almost every other product.
Not to mention, there's no way to get re-uses out of MP molds as there is in basic lines like CW.
But also, I'd argue that deciding what subtle details make a character the "ultimate version" would be pretty difficult, even for a more than capable design team. Whether you like it or not, basing these figures on the show designs isn't 100% wrong.
