While I think doing so was the right move, I'd be stupid to point out that I really don't think anyone would really go out of their way to make those assumptions.

He may or may not be standing up for the consumers. Recall his reasoning for making stylistic changes to some of the characters for the movie wherein his answer was sometimes, "Because I wanted it that way..." Also, remember the way he took the criticism from the fans.

I'm not saying that the reason he wants to cut ties with the company isn't because of principles, I'm just saying that he sometimes can be a little childish. It's possible that he was already looking for a way out of Transformers 2 and that this 'out' allows him to look like a good-guy taking on the monster corporation.

Having a non-Bay sequel might be all right, after all. He did a nice job of playing around with the mythology, but he did some things that weren't exactly what the collective fandom wouldn't have wanted. Additionally, he really didn't include some things that would have been welcome. Think about this: Besides Prime and Bumblebee, was there any kind of character development for the other Transformers? Couldn't those characters have been Generic Autobots A-C and Generic Decepticons 1-4 or something? Could we have cut the 'hiding outside Sam's house' to 1/3 the length and developed these characters a bit?

That's a long-winded post. The take-home message is that Bay may not be the boyscout here and that (although I enjoyed the film) a non-Bay sequel might not be the worst thing ever to happen :)

I personally like Micheal Bay's movies and i will tell anyone to piss off if they try to tell me otherwise.

However i think this is a bit stupid and a harsh knee-jerk decision to make just because his movie isnt being released on the lame, overkill, not needed Sony crap format that is Blu-ray.

Lets just clear one thing up though: Will Transformers be released on NORMAL DVD? The way these articles are worded it makes it sound as if there will be no NORMAL DVD release. If that happens i will have to kill someone, or worse still get a bootleg.

To start such a rumour is just cruel and ignorant and retarded because DVD hasnt been replaced yet, as few people actually have HD-DVD.

Erm, i did read the original posts clearly thank you very much and the way it was worded made it sound like there was going to be no normal DVD release.

Dont patronize me please, it isnt my fault if these articles are worded poorly by whoever wrote them.

I wasnt accusing you of starting any rumours, as what is posted is basically just cut and paste text. I was accusing Paramount FYI.

Betamax, Mini-Disc...these are prime examples of Sony consumer tech that completely blows.

Maybe some idiot like Dong Murphy will talk some sense to Bay and let him know that because he's pissed about a corporation's choice of format he'll be flushing BILLIONS of dollars down the drain by passing on TF2.

Think about this, if you were any type of a business man, wouldn't you make some sort of contract clause in the sequel that in order for you to direct, they make it in ALL formats?

The bottom line is that this is a stupid Hollywood tactic. These guys think that they are invincible and such. It blows my mind, how individuals don't actually LIVE in the real world.

And S-Tron, thanks for the Wiki-link, I'll have something to kill time with at work now! Besides H-M-Dub of course.

It was stated in the article that was linked on Seib's news that there will be a normal DVD realease, just only one of the formats of the digital will be supported. Only benifical to you if your tv supports 1080p. Mine only supports 1080i, and the players are too expensive, so I dont care one way or another.

I totaly agree the best part of the TF franchise is that all the charachters have personality, and character development. Maybee in the outtakes on the dvd they will get some...

Personaly I don't agree. I owned a portable, and a home mini disk player recorder. Best part of em' was they were all rerecordable. But now with MP3, and every format being recordable they are obsolite...

That's pretty much my small, tiny little hope that I know will never happen. It would be nice to see even just a small retouching of the designs(namely the heads).

Anyway, I'm glad Bay is leaving. Even though I think in the end he pulled it off; I hated the way he got to it, and still don't like many of his decisions(*cough*head designs*cough*).

However, I AM afraid that we'll get some crappy director who absolutely sucks.

OK to clear a few things up

1- Movies will be available on regular DVD for a long time so this debate has nothing to do with regular format just HD and blue ray.
2- Paramount made the decision not to do it on blue ray for technical reasons, Its easier to make HD- DVD's than it is to make Blue Ray. You can find that article that gives their reasons here http://www.aintitcool.com/node/33722 It says that the decision is not only for transformers but all paramount movies.

3- And with Bay leaving, I hope the designs don't change because it would just be weird to have the designs to change from movie to movie. But we wont know until we see pics of it.

I doubt the designs will change. ILM has spent alot of time and money working on them, only to use them in one movie.

No! If Bay's out and then the next guy that comes in might not follow the format Bay Started. This could mean that we see another reinvention of the franchise. And ILM will be forced to make new molds. I don't want to see this film franchise turn around and hit nothing but 'fan pops'

Can Anyone else say "BRET RATNER COMPLEX"

Other directors

Postby riogrande100 » Tue Aug 21, 2007 9:53 am

I swear michael bay made the new action packed and a little shallow but was very enjoyable. We get some other director on baord and i fear we will have another spiderman franchise with the main emphasis on arcee and [autobot] relationship. The whoel story will be driven by a decepticon trying to hurt Arcee.

Prime would be relegated to giving Hot Rod fatherly advice, while sam and mikaela will have troubles because of this. I mean come on G1 was shallow but was baout huge robots whoopin a$$ not a love story.

i swear any how they use the aircraft carrier as a way to reinact the titanic scene, im gonna blow a gasket!

Man i am sick of all the lame action movies that show a trailer of great action, only to turn into some chick flick. transformers and die hard deliveered by giving us a fast paced action flick.
