MOTU

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Forbidden planet had a very over priced revelations stinkor in. I'm tempted to get one at some point -at least knowing it doesnt stink and hasnt supposed to doesnt weigh against it even if i'm happy with my staction.

they also had series Beastman which looks even better in person and it already looked good to me.

Smyths has updated listings for origins wave with Sunman and March release dates added but no listing for clawfull yet. They also have series Ram Maam and Man E Faces listings up.

Smyths next origin wave listings disapeered but hopefully that doesn't mean much.

Got my masters wwe wave 7 through.
There is a lot of reminders from the figures themselves that these are child toys and not collectors toys so I wouldn't advise paying collectors price for them.

First cheap out is the mini comics - which are no longer mini comics. Just a front and back page now called 'collectors sheets'. Maybe jake the snakes finishing of triple H was a bit too grizzly or Mattel went cheap.

Junkyards dog weapon was broke/snapped out of the box. Can probably glue the rubbery chain back together with out much fuss. He has a speck of white in his hair.

Brett was fine, Chynas likely going to steal his sword. Removing the shades reveals probably the most characturish face ever tho!! Yikes. He's keeping the shades band on until he gets his head replaced

Sgt slaughter has a bit of paint rub or a dirty face on one side from his armor. What's nice to see is not only the hat removable, so is his glasses. He might not get the full armor (just man at arms parts) like the eternian guards but it's nice to know standard figures can occasionally get a few more accessories thrown in with their price point.

Andre the giant. The way he is packaged cleverly hides the extra height from putting his feet on seperately. Doesn't seem to be a right/left foot so also means no qc issues as both feet can go on either leg. Mine has a bit of a nodule or pimple on one of his knees. Despite being a head or so taller than standard origins bodies he's way more bulkier (Hemans gonna need to go to the gym to compete with him) and definitely great for customs... If people weren't charging so much for him. Could see the body being used for king greyskull etc but would hope origins giants are giant.

Apparently JYD's weapon is commonly broken in the package. I really wanted this wave more than 8, but it doesn't look like it'll ever go back in stock and the cheapest I can find any of them is $38 each.

I pick up the Revelations Savage He-Man and Orko set at Target. They also had Tri-Klops, might go back for him soon.

There's a lot of interesting bits in that video. Stratos, Mosquitara, Man-E-Faces and Webstor who I don't believe has had a figure announced making him a real surprise. No sign of Tri-Klops. Interesting that the painting shows Hiss with the Power Sword and Snake Mountain in the background glowing as if Skeletor is revealing something secret hidden in the painting. In the original story King Hiss was meant to be seen as a hero in his human form, looks like they're doing the same here.

Good stuff, looking forward to seeing it all soon.

That's 7. ;)
Looking at news sites they're saying Whiplash, Randor, Trapjaw and Digitino are it for wave 9. I'm thinking Skeletor, Mantenna, Pighead and another figure will be wave 10 (maybe that Sun-Man guy with the black hood and sword), though I'd rather see Mantenna as a Deluxe figure.

People are saying the mystery figure and Zoar set is an Origin set exclusive to BBTS and EE.

I made a mistake. I touched the chrome. My finger prints are immortalised.

Default head is sadly kinda extreme bobble head loose. Wind swept head is a lot more secure. Neither paint matches the body but it isn't as bad as bumble yellows or power ranger pinks. Skeletors snappy dragon weapon is more fun than Hemans weapons but heman just looks better from his full chest armor.

Looking for insight from anyone who cares...

So back in December Target had the Retro MotU Panthor for $10, and Skeletor for $12-ish (and without thinking much, I bought them).
Today I received a Netflix series Skeletor (from Walmart.com)...

I'm not keeping it all... Something's going to be returned.

I actually really like the look of the NF series animation, and even though it's kind of ridiculous, I like the the skewed proportions of this figure as much if not more than the retro version...

But then I'm thinking, the retro stuff has that nostalgic pull.
And I don't know if I'd ever get Panthor again for $10.
*Sidenote... I don't plan on getting any other retro figures, other than maybe Evil Lyn.
With the NF series line, I could see getting both Trap Jaw and Beastman. Maybe Evil Lyn, but I'm not a huge fan of her look.

I'm really on the fence...

So any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!!

I've not seen any of the NF series yet but Panthor looks to be a bike (the one that comes with the lsd skeletor figure). You probably dont want to hear this but...mix and matching will work okay. the larger sized trapjaw and even the beastman will fit with origins.

Origins battlecat and he-man are usually both available pretty cheap and would compliment origins skel/panthor with being a good cut off point but then you might be tempted to get other figures and their mounts :P I got a vintage swiftwind for She-ra but Hordaks is looking a bit more pricier.

NF Panthor is a bike... I just saw that at my Target... Skeletor is done in different colors as well.
Trap Jaw's vehicle was really cool, but I'm not sure I'm going down that path.

I hear you about mixing and matching... I just don't know if I want to start justifying that...
I'm going to hold on to all of it for a while and try and decide sooner than later.

I will say, I have very little want of the Retro Trap Jaw or Beastman. In fact, I never ever liked the look of Beastman and never got him as a kid.

And who knows... Since I know I'm not going to get any other Retro line figures, maybe I'll keep Panthor and Skeletor, and keep them sealed.
We should be getting a nice hefty tax return... So the $24-ish for those two won't seem like anything in about a month.

Watched the newest batch of the new younger themed CG He-Man & MOTU. It didn't really grab like the first 10 did. I understand there are a LOT of differences, but they seem to be doing them just for the sake of being different. Some work, some don't. Also I'm a sucker for a mcguffin based story, so why not...

The ones that Don't: Stratos- is just Falcon from Marvels Avengers. I said that to my wife upon his first appearance, and I kid you not, BOTH my kids walked in at different times asking why Falcon was on MOTU. Tri-Klops- just being a bot that can attach itself to others and control them. Sounds good at first, but it just didn't work for me.

The ones that Do - Man-E-Faces. I liked the new take that he was some sort of self appointed King for Eternia's underclass. Hopefully helping Randor to be a better King and treat his people more equally. Also "Mosquitara". My jaw dropped, we finally get Mosquitor in female form, in animation for the first time ! I can't wait to see more of her.

The overall plot with Skeletor was ok. Bobcat G. As a Giant Dragonfly, and the Skeletor Birthday episode, I just had to laugh. The ending though...I understand they are trying to go way different, but I'm more excited about the prospect of Snake Men and eventually the Evil Horde, than Adam's new rift with his female BFF.

The Man is 85 though... Yeah I get the "Hawkman" reference, but maybe if they had a "sounds like" type voice? Scott McNeil did a half decent Sean Connery impersonation of Stratos for the 2002 series.

Motu origins reveals today

https://toynewsi.com/241-42140

Wanting two Zoars which is kind of a pain when I dont undertsand what is so special about the Teela unless it is a really low effort 200X version like they did with Evil Lyn (no boots etc etc) or if it's the only way to get a teela with exclusive knees (other than scratching the paint off a green goddess). Think I'd have preferred a Pink teela like the loyal subjects version.

Either way, happy for Randor & Pig Head. 200x he-mans heads a bit low effort too but if it means the deluxes aren't he-man and skeletor (supposedly Mantenna and one unknown) then I'm good with that. Other sunman guys are a bit generic but I'm likely to pick them up.

Hopefully two bad and more of the horde on their way.

Also hoping the scum of the earth isn't all over the superstars Razor Ramone figure like they were with Egons :/ because he is so going with my motu wwe wearing terror claws.

Masterverse series skeletor looking way better than masterverse revelations skeletor XD maybe netflix she-ra will get some masterverse love after all.

Same could be said for literally any other incarnation of revelations versions though. Beastman is looking good but def not the same as the silohette with it not having leg padding.

Catra and hordak are musts for me and looks like I'll have to pick up revelations fisto to go with that jitsu.

A good day for reveals in all

Yeah, I could see myself buying all of that. Already ordered Teela and Zoar at BBTS. Teela appears to just be the original with shinier gold armor and weapons, updated knees and the added sword, doesn't seem like a 200X update like Evil-Lyn, but can probably double as one just fine. Something about the 200X He-man's head reminds me of the vintage Laser Power He-man alternate head.

https://toynewsi.com/241-42167

Origins
200x skeletor (meh) sword doesn't even look like it is two parts?

Grizzlor affordable version YAY and still oh so fluffy

Mantenna yeeeeep. Think they could do a toy color or a more blue version but yep.

Snout spout yeeep and yep, gotta have two for a hose head

Leech... Damn. Yes. Yes. Yes

Rotton, I've been avoiding vehicles for space but who am I kidding.

turns out the reveals haven't ended and I'm still hoping for one more in the form of a snake mountain sneak peek (I'm already willing to bet snake men will start showing up some time soon)

https://toynewsi.com/241-42181

All masterverse this time:

Battle armor he-man -I'd kind of wanted more of a twist like a 40k space marine or something but it's okay

Hero -no chrome so it kind of seems different enough to get

Series he-man is a definite for me even if I only wanted the toy version in armor

Sunman, looks good even if it's one of those figures where the masterverse knee joints look a bit robotic or out of place. Nicer than the retail head origins sunman anyways

She-ra a must for me.

Man, so much great stuff this time around. I predicted before that Mantenna would be a Deluxe figure with four legs and I can't believe they're actually doing it! Leech is unexpected cool with all the part swaps. Grizzlor was predictable given the dark face version made for Powercon. Snout Spout definitely looks better with the toy style trunk. 200X Skeletor is at least better than just a repaint of the original figure with black highlights.

For the Revelations stuff I wasn't expecting Battle Armor He-Man to have the King He-Man head, I wish he had a crown! Sun Man looks really cool in more normal human proportions, though it does look a little like he's wearing a skirt and crop top from a distance. She-Ra is great and I love that she has an alternate head. He-Ro is good, but needs more contrast between his armor and skin tone. Series He-Man is a bit odd, he doesn't really fit the rest of Revelations, but will likely be too big for the regular toy line. I almost wondered before the reveal if the figure would be a normal He-Man in Series He-Man's outfit.

I was thinking the other day that the next 2-pack done in the style of Battlefield Warriors He-man and Battle Cat should be She-Ra and Swift Wing (but without battle damage of course). The two current She-Ra's are OK, but her headpiece isn't good for a cartoon likeness at all. However the mold for the cartoon headpiece is out there, it came with Chyna and just begging to be reused.
