- Motto: "'till All Are One"
Gotta say, as much as the Transformers line could improve on distribution at times, the distribution for MOTU origins and MOTU CG Netflix toyline is utter garbage at brick and mortar retail. I get that americans can rely on BBTS, congrats on that, but I don't have that luxury in Canada. I can only rely on retail and it is abysmal. The main characters of MOTU were in the first 2 waves of Origins and I never got those. Unlike with general audience TF lines, like RID and Cyberverse, Mattel has not rereleased main characters in subsequent waves. So no Manefaces, or Man at Arms or Teela or Trap Jaw or Beast Man for me. I know that was a whole issue in the US too but at least there was a second run through BBTS ( I think). So that was off on the wrong foot.
But after that, the distribution is still hap hazard. I thought I could get Beast man with the LOP version in the later wave, but that was skipped in my stores too. It's like I get every second wave. We got those deluxe sets in drones though, along with the playsets and vehicles and cats. Seriously, for the first year of MOTU origins, all we had in Canada was Battlecat. And no He Man. What a fail.
So yeah, glad I am not collecting the origins line religiously, or else I would be PISSED!
What I did hope to collect though was the new Netflix line for kids. I figured it being just for kids, there could be a better chance at distribution (lower price point and all that). BUT NO. For some reason, the wave system is really messed up with there being different versions of the same wave. So wave 1 had skeletor and He Man and Man at Arms OR Trap Jaw. Some places got just the wave with trap jaw, and some just the wave with man at arms. We are seeing it again with the recent wave of Man E Faces and Ram M'am, where some also come with prince adam and some also come with the yellow clear plastic he man.
And the wave with Orco and Evil Lynn was blink and you'll miss it with stores never getting any. And we are talking Canada wide. That wave never appeared on Amazon.ca or at Toysrus, just in a few select Walmarts.
This is all just freaken ridiculous.
